So far so good. The translation is exceptionally readable and the writing style is clear and witty. The attention to detail and character construction are very enjoyable and look to be building a situation comedy, built on manners and character.

The MC is being portrayed as a rogue who is now in an interesting situation. Not sure where this is going to go. Comedy is hard to translate and even more a matter of particular taste. This first chapter managed to provoke a small smile while promising more in what's to... more>> come. <<less

It may take years; I don't care. I won't read this until the translation is complete... I'm going to wait as long as it takes because you are that good. Your skills at translating are superb and as everybody knows, it takes time for great things to happen.

Thank you for so much for doing this. It allows us non Chinese-speaking peasants a chance to enjoy this story.

Seems like I have to retract my earlier thoughts on this. My patience wore thin and having not much else to do, I gave... more>> in and started reading this. It's definitely a story I won't mind re-reading again and again if and when the updates occur and my covid-brain can't remember what the story entails.

I want to describe this in a way that won't spoil it too much and I'm having a hard time of it. There seems to be a lot of juxtaposing of thoughts so it's... complicated. The MC definitely finds herself ensconced in many adventures but she somehow comes out of it pretty much unscathed and even ends up with a lovely princess as a wife. There's cross-dressing involved and misunderstood attractions so if you have a mind, not only is there the expected GL but there's also BL. There's tomfoolery galore thanks to our easygoing MC and tender romance with many moments of serious yearning. A little mystery, too. Slow burn for sure, which makes this a top-notch read.

Nearly as important as the story itself, especially for those who can't read Chinese, the translation of this story by Douqi is, bar none, the best you will ever get... maybe even better than the original. I feel bad that one person can spend countless hours toiling over translating this story but it takes mere hours to read. Is that even fair? To balance things out, one person's efforts can bring enjoyment to many others. At least that's how I'd like to think of it.

The story has been really fun to read. Not too drawn out in any aspect... just right. It's got a little bit of everything. 5 stars should be given purely based on the translation alone... the story is the exquisite cherry on top.

This translation is incredible! I like the story so far, characters are likeable and funny. Protag is a dense sweet talker I love it

edit: 24 chapters in, the translation is still amazing !! I love the in-depth translators notes and its just so smooth !! zisong and the princess are super cute I love them

edit: i've finished the story... through tears with the final chapters 😭 I think this is my absolute favorite cn wn I have ever read. the romance is incredible ! and the translation is amazing, the... more>> translated prose is moving and natural, and the translation notes are detailed and well-done, though unneeded to understand the text, as it is translated so well !!

the two leads are so truly in love with each other, and their interactions are so sweet and lovely I could feel my heart crush in my chest !!

The novel is rather short, but packed with a punch of light-hearted (sometimes inappropriate jokes), fluffy moments that will make you grin and giggle to yourself and angsty moments that will make you clutch your heart and lament along with the characters. It's a very worthwhile read.

The author is very brilliant and patient in a sense that for most parts of the story (except the second final chapter and 1 extra chapter), we only get the limited view of our main character, Wei Zisong. As such, we also agonize along... more>> with her as she guesses the motivations of the people around her and learn with her of the new information as they get revealed to her. Personally, I think that brings forth a greater emotional impact compared to if the author chose to make us omniscient viewers of all of the characters' feelings. Instead, we are left to guess, to draw conclusion and to suffer and empathize with the characters.

There were moments in the novel that actually made me chuckle, also moments when it felt like happiness was so out of my reach - painful as it was. It's brilliant, but there are definitely some (forgivable) plot holes due to some late twists in the story the author decided to add (or probably had hinted all along and I just missed it - maybe if I reread I'll edit this review). Because of that, I wish the ending is drawn out a little longer. Especially because

I don't think the eldest princess Chu Feichen had atoned enough for the grievances she had inflicted upon the person she supposedly loved very much. You'd think she at least give Wei Zisong a chance to defend herself from such a heavy accusation but noooooo. She couldn't be impartial and let her ex poured more gasoline into the situation. Zhao Yishu should've suffered more tbh. I want to see an ending where she grovels (or at least do more) to gain Wei Zisong's trust again. Also I totally adore Xiao He because it's the author wasn't shy in hinting where his true affection lied throughout the novel.

C52: Ah, I feel so sad that this good story has come to an end. I'm looking forward to the extras. I think we need a scene where Feichan realizes how betrayed Zisong feels, how she thinks, and why she said 'You tricked me!'. Even though Feichan learned in Chapter52 that she misunderstood Zisong, by piecing together the perspectives of the Jeweller, ex-prisoner Writer, Steward, and the letter, Feichan still hasn't grasped that her trust and collaboration with Zhao Yishu were the core of Zisong's pain. Until now, Feichan only... more>> realizes that she misunderstood Zisong. She still needs to realize what hurt Zisong the most. It seems Feichan trusted Zhao Yishu more than Zisong, and choosing to cooperate with Zhao Yishu was the ultimate betrayal. Zisong desperately deserves an explanation. Honestly, if I were in Zisong's position, I'd feel the same way. Even though Feichan came to Zisong and apologized, she still hasn't fully explained her actions with Zhao Yishu. Zisong's long-term feelings of insecurity and hurt stem from Feichan's behavior with Zhao Yishu.

Really good story so far, likeable characters, excellent writing, and very good translation (with lots of translators notes that I'm finding interesting, though it's such a good translation that they're not necessary to appreciate the story).

Wow, the translation quality is really high. The proses were so sophisticated and intricate, I could tell that the translator had gone a great length to produce such work. Great job, translator laoshi! Also the story, the plot was simple but the delivery was top-notch. Usually, I stay away from novels told from first-person perspective, but this one just WORKS. It's really fascinating and funny to know Wei Zisong's inner workings. Made me understand her joys and sorrows, it really tugged on my heartstrings if I were to word it... more>> profoundly. I feel like, had this novel been told from third person pov, the comedy aspect wouldn't be executed that well. <<less

This is certainly one of my favorite novels I've read so far. The plot is simple; the characters are loveable, they don't have an unreasonable and irritating personality; and the whole vibe of the story is just great.

Although it is a pity that the author didn't really focus much on some parts of the plot (I guess they didn't want any political drama). They also did not give any depth to the side characters, it wouldve been fun to see how others interact with them more like silly girl and... more>> zhongliang. Basically every side character interaction that happened is to fuel the princess' jealousy (but I'm a sucker for that so it's fine) The ending is a also done in a hurry. It leaves the audiences hanging and expecting more for the ending.

I still give it 4 stars because it's a total breath of fresh air for me to read this amidst all the transmigration novels here. It's a fun read and perfect for people who just want to read a romcom story without much outside drama.

p.s. The translations are also worth the wait because it's a total perfection! There are too much jokes that I think would be more fun to read in proper english rather than MTLed version😭.

Absolute cinema is really all I'd be able to muster up if I were asked to describe this series, nothing else really necessary.

Before anything else, the translator is absolutely phenomenal at their job. Douqi's diction is massively impressive, finding just the right words to suite the situation at hand, also taking into account the time period, who is being spoken to and the speaker, and really everything else within the context of the situations. Additionally, the translator notes, with how many allusions to pieces of literature and general occurrences of... more>> the past Leng Qian Shan, do an absolutely fantastic job at explaining to the readers all they'd need to understand.

The story itself is nothing short of wonderful as well. The pacing of the story is quite faster than I'm used to but the caveats that usually come with a faster paced. The characters

did not feel lacking in any depth. The way they interacted around with each other and to situations at hand felt realistic. All the actions characters take within this story, even if sudden, make sense and can be logically followed through taking into account their unique circumstances around their life and how they grew up.

Although I really wished Zhao Yishu would've given some semblance of an apology on-screen to Wei Zisong. I also wished we got a bit of an update on what happened to the true traitors of/to the Yan kingdom between Wei Zisong's adoptive father and her to brethren from the mountain hideout originally.

The humor aspect of the story, although at times tactless, I generally found quite funny. I don't usually laugh all too much at novels. Stories with a comedic element to it usually have me bearing a deadpan face once said elements arrive, but this story was different. This particular humor where we see our main character make remarks that are usually meant to stay unsaid, her sarcastic comments, her playful teasing, and really just her unapologetically being a rascal I found hilarious.

For the romance of the story, I unsurprisingly loved it. Every moment between the two main leads just felt so raw and intimate with no other words describing it as well. They feel like they match with each other and blend in seamlessly alongside one another but also have their own characters and personalities. The wide array of different emotions these main characters have evoked within me, and the intensities of the emotions at that, are nothing short of amazing.

Guys, please give this a read, it really is nothing short of amazing. <<less

I think it would be absolutely remiss not to compliment the translator who did all this beautiful work translating every word. The prose is impeccable, every sentence has been brought together so beautifully I can only wonder how good the original work is in its native language. Thank you so much for your efforts over the years!

TLDR: The story is honestly quite simple but what it does in its short length is remarkable and only made better by the absolute art in its writing. I promise you, the writing will... more>> make you weep in its composition. AGAIN THANK YOU TO THE TRANSLATOR. I cannot convey in words how absolutely amazing the writing is.

The characters are beautifully written as with everything else in this novel. Our main character has many hidden depths that are uncovered as we go along the story. Her wit and charm endear themselves to you so much. It’s not hard to understand why the princess falls for her so. And the princess herself, as demure as she puts herself out to be is quite the clever fox. Their relationship will entertain you and make you feel for their relationship as much as they fall for each other.

The romance is absolutely amazing to read and experience. The plot picks up quite a bit to the end and its a heart wrenching stretch to the finish that- after all the fluff we’d experienced- was so refreshing to see. The buildup from their fluffy romance to the undercurrents of tension as they get to know each other and the circumstances that lead both of them to the people they are now and the people who made them who they are. The way their relationship falters and mends, the plot twists and the palace politics that are so deeply intwined with their relationship. ITS PERFECT. To have this all wrapped up in 52 chapters without being overwhelming? It’s a masterpiece of writing.

So far, I'm on chapter 10 of this novel. And so far, it's a very sweet and comfortable story.

It's worth saying right away that the last chapters are mixed up here. Namely, extras 50 and 51 chapters. And chapters 49 and 52 are the last in the original text. I don't know if the translator will notice, but it would be great to fix it. That's why I'm a little confused.

After reading it, I will definitely write a review for the entire work. Now I decided to write, if suddenly... more>> someone else will read, so that they do not find difficulties in understanding like me, and read after chapter 49, 52. And then it's 50-51.

Updated: Well, I've finished reading this wonderful story and I can say it's worth it. A funny, light, sometimes melancholic and sensual love story of two girls who are lucky to find each other.

But they just needed to talk to each other.

Oh, but it's nice that despite a lot of misunderstandings, they were resolved relatively quickly here. The author did not drag out the work for a bunch of chapters. And they probably liked this story even more, relatively short, but unhurried and logical.

I read ambiguous comments under the original, and honestly, I do not share the opinion that some readers had. The author's style is beautiful. And maybe the fact is that the translator adapted everything so well (and this is true, because being a non-native English speaker, I read and understood everything), but reading was so fun and pleasing to the eye. Especially a lot of references to poems and works of Chinese classics, to real historical figures. This is one of the few works in which there are so many references and metaphors. My compliments, the author! And my low bow to the translator who did not miss a single reference. Thanks!

In general, this is a good GL. I boldly recommend it and will re-read it later!

If anything, I'll apologize wildly, English is not my native language. But I couldn't write a few words about the novel and the translation. Everything here is worthy of praise.

A really good story! You can't help but fall in love with the main characters. Hell, even the side characters are really good. Both of the main characters have unique personalities that you'll eventually love. Although there are many twists and turns, it basically just focus on their love story. Their interactions are very sweet that it gives me toothaches. The humor is also up to my ally. Honestly, there's not a time that I'm not smiling every time I read a chapter. And, oh boy, the translator really did... more>> a good job! It's not often you can find a translated book as good as this anywhere so kudos to the translator! Overall, I enjoyed the book so much. I have already read some GL, good, average but till now the best one for me is "My dear miss medical forensic". Now this novel is also add the best list!

Well now come to the story! The plot is simple but the way the story narrated by our MC is really enjoyable.... Thus we can feel the joy, sorrow, excitement and every little feelings with our MC! MC is such a fluffy character! Liked her!

But if there were some more stories about the side characters, that would be good!

Absolutely loved this and highly recommended! It's funny, has romance and a bit of angst. MC's internal thoughts are hilarious at times and heart wrenching at other moments. I found the FL to be a mystery until the very end. Thought she was one of those scheming princesses, but she just turned out to be a heartbroken girl who learns to love again.

The story was super fun to read. It was wholesome, easy to follow drama and very simple world. If you want a short fun and cute story, I highly recommend this.

The main lead was funny, nice and love the other female lead very much.
