Uwaahh~ This is one of the best Yaoi stories in this sites! Not only it has excellent story line/plot, the pace is also very on point~! Love this~! I can't stop my mouth from grinning too widely throughout this series. Hopefully my colleagues didn't see me grinning like a fool. Tehe~ ;p

I've just started reading the novel but I liked what I read so much, so I am writing a review.

Many novels start promising but later due to many reasons my interest would die out. But... but I sincerely hope that this won't be one of those for me. The premise is fun and the protagonist is the kind of OP I really like - smart, a bit evil and loyal. I am looking foward to reading the rest of it.

The story is good for yaoi fans who just want the romance but even that is boring past the first arc. The problem I have with this story is that it's the same story every f*cking arc. Every arc begins whit MC possesing a body of some canon fooder and having to resolve the situation he is in to avoid his demise, but what's s*upid is the way he solves his problems, it's way to easy and then it focuses on gay romance.

And I even have problem with that. The... more>> yaoi romance in the first arc was OK because the body MC possesed is said to be gay, so I was like if the body he possess is gay, he is too, and his lover that is gay is reasonable too because it was never said or shown that he had a wife/girlfriend etc. But in the second arc where he is a painter he is gay again (then I was: OK he is gay himself) but the problem is his gay lover he was before falling for the MC a married guy who has a kid and has remarried again. Why would he suddenly become gay for the MC? And the same happens in the third arc, I don't know is it the emperor or the crown prince because I stopped reading it midway, but neither of them showed signs of being gay, since MC showed how their stories would have ended, and would you guess it, one of them is definitely gay for the MC. Why can't the author spice it up by making MC girl and making yuri romance or having a normal relationship as a man/woman?

So the story is god for yaoi fans who want the same rehashed romance every 10 chapters but if you want anything else you won't find it here. <<less

I don't get the hype.

I read this quite early, one of my first novel back when I was just starting, the pandemic has also just begun. Since I was just starting I don't have any standards or requirement and yet I literally stopped at c2.6. This is a late update but I can't help it since I tried reading it again and still felt the same. I can't handle how shitty the narration/writing skills. I'm the type of person who only uses two braincell so I really don't care about... more>> the plot as long as the narration is bearable. But this novel has no plot nor good narration or pace. I always see people recommending this sh*t and I just can't help but raise my eyebrows to them. I've seen a lot of apathetic MC, especially in unlimited transmigration novels but the author made a bad type of it. He literally just lost his supposed love of his life and yet quickly fell in love in the next worldd? Even if some said its the same person, like they're basically different person since those mls have different personalities from the each other. I really don't see it as MC falling in love with same person, I simply felt the MC is so fickle that even tho he said he loved the guy so much and yet quickly fell inlove with another. Ugh, horrible. Other novels do it better like Born to Be Rebellious [Quick Transmigration] or another one that I lost the title ever since I changed phones (I love destroying plots or something like that but longer). Atleast it's cohesive enough.

PS: Sorry for my bad english, pretty sure I had a lot of wrong grammars there but I just can't help but rant because I really don't understand how others like this and keep recommending it and saying this is the best. Perhaps it's the translators problem that didnt captured the authors intention well or I dunno. I don't think Im gonna give this a chance again. <<less

Was so apprehensive starting this novel because of how popular it is (and also after reading some negative reviews), as I really didn't want to be let down. And behold, this is now one of my favorites! I definitely understand the potential complaints about this novel, but for me, the romance, the plot, the characters- everything was just perfect. Each arc is really short, and I actually enjoyed every plot line, though the first is still probably my favorite just because it was the only one I wasn't sure who... more>> the ML would be haha!

I will say though as a disclaimer that it's important to approach this novel with no expectation for a literary experience, and rather to view it as a fun and lighthearted face slapping experience with the most OP protagonist that has ever existed. There is no issue that he can't resolve, and he's always the hottest person in the room. If this bothers you in the first arc, it doesn't get any better so probably stop reading at that point lol

Every arc can be read separately and they're all just so much fun. The ML is always h**ny at first sight and the MC is delightfully manipulative. Their dynamic is so amusing to me every time. The two of them together is like if two glaring red flags met and were into each others dramatics and then got married and lived together forever. Incredible.

I get that this kind of ML isn't for everyone, but his antics were just too funny and I really do have different standards for fictional characters when it comes to acceptable behavior. The fact that he remains a tall, obsessive, possessive, stalkerish, h**ny foodie in every world will never get old. First arc romance always will be the best for me because of the whole "is he going to f*ck the uncle??" feeling, while all the other arcs were more "when is he going to f*ck the uncle" lmfao.

If nothing else this novel has desensitized me completely to fictional age gaps. Unintended consequences. <<less

Honestly, I read this a long time ago and rereading it has changed my opinion a bit.

It's not bad, especially if you start out. This was my first experience in the BL genre. The plots are not anything special. In the Quick Transmigration (QT) types, this is definently not some stellar gem that would change your life.

Good to get aquainted with some genres that you'll see often like ABO or some other weird confusing set-up.

For what it is, it's generic and barely interesting enough to keep any of my attention... more>> now.

If you want to give it a try, it's alright, but you're not missing out on anyrhing mind-blowing.

Not saying it's bad, but there's definitely some better ones out there.

P.S. Favorite Arc has gotta be Arc 9. Makes it seem that both characters are a tiny bit less 2d. <<less

The reason I started reading this novel is because I love "Don't Pick Up Boyfriend From the tr*sh Bin" and some people in the review section said that they thought FOD was still better, so I decided to give it a try while waiting for the complete translation.

And I'm sorry if comparing is annoying but this is not as good as I thought. It can be entertaining in some parts but the story just lacks good suspense that any good novel has.

While I don't mind overpowered MCs (because this is... more>> one of the traits I really like) the fact that this MC resolves everything with "hacking skills" without really explaining how he really works in it, makes me feel less interested in the MC skill. He has no struggles as a person and feels lazy.

Like I understand he's lived a thousand lives and he's from a high tech world but the author is not giving any effort to write the MC's problem-solving mind. The author writes "the MC found a laptop and immediately hacked into the system to find all the evidence. And also created false evidence to counter attack the bad guys. This was easy because of his 180IQ". It feels a bit cringy how those parts are explained and portrayed in a really lacking way.

There's always ways to have OP MCs that have unbelievable skills but they still struggle in some areas which gives us some type of growth. But this MC stays the same.

The ML is less interesting and not because he's the classic cold and a control freak (i like those types) but because author just writes him their love story as "and they lived happily ever after" so I couldn't feel any actual romantic connection other than lust from the ML.

I've basically read more than half of this novel so I'm just gonna finish it but not a really memorable novel.

Update.

I read all of it and I changed my 2 star review for a 1 star.

The basis of all the arcs follow the same path. You can still "enjoy" some arcs and face-slapping but they are literally the same issues, same solving, same outcome in every single world.

I thought the high rating was because of old readers that never read QT novels before but even to this day there are people giving it high rating?? At most this novel would be a 3/5.

The only reason someone should read this is if they like really shut-off-brain reading and some smut sprinkled. Like everything that happens won't give you any excitement plot wise nor character development wise (because there is none).

The only moment you get some sort of novelty is the first description of each world. That's it. Then it goes downhilld really.

I usually trust reviews that go from 4.6+ novels (at that time this was 4.6 then 4.4 and came back to 4.5 stars) because I usually enjoy what the majority here enjoys. But this is one of, if not the first novel it gets such high rating and I literally can't understand why. <<less

People give this novel too much hype lol. I really liked the introduction to the MCs character and I was looking froward on how he would do things... but I got disappointed, the writing was messy, it was only good at the intro, it quickly became boring, the romance is fast, ML is like a useful decoration to the MC and the romance is basically dead.

Yes, repetitive stories may be the main selling point of QT novels but it doesn't mean they're good, they deliver the same cliche story line,... more>> people would eat it but sooner or late they would spit it out.

This may be the usual QT novel but compared to other QT novel, this fall short, it's not even average, it's BELOW average. If I have read this before I have fallen deep into the quick transmigration genre, I would've loved it, but no. <<less

I was recommended to read this, I am glad that I did and didn't miss out on one of the best novels out there.

The first half was kinda short but it wasn't bad at all, but I didn't get the hype. Then came the 2nd half and I was thrilled and obsessed with everything the novel has to offer.

Even in the first ARC that NSFW really hit the spot. MC is so passionate, even I can feel it in my bones and want to tangle with him. It was so... more>> hot and seductive. He's a freaking temptress. I just love his attitude Good to me Good to you, bad to me repaid with interest make you feel worst than death. Also when he loves he loves, he won't hide and will take you down with his passion. He's wild, charming, strong, clever and seductive. I want to lick his feets lol.

Every arc in the novel feels very different, I don't feel it's repetitive at all. Going into each arc I feel refreshed. (Except the Supermodel one too long!) Each character MC transmigrate to has its own goals and there's also interactions with ML who is different in each world, all the different personalities stories , and developments creates an amazing trend where you just can't stop reading. I was obsessed with reading non stop and stay up a few nights.

I swear all the character In the story are equip with Eyes detection skills. They all can tell peoples emotions by looking into their eyes, it's really fascinating.

Did I tell you how awesome the ML is in this novel too? He's h**ny all the time but don't feel it's greasy, you can tell how much he's loves the MC. All the things he do, how he reacts and how he cares for the MC. He's strong, and smart buy he knows how to LOVE! He never forces MC to do anything that he doesn't want to do. That's the best quality as a ML to me.

The faceslappings in the novel is top notch, death isn't scary, MC will make you feel worst than death scary but charming. MC and ML is so good together ahhh I will miss their papapa, flirting, chats and their chemistry. I don't want it to end. Also I didn't feel the MC was a devil until the 2nd half. He really Good at being good and evil at the same time. He need go to meet Xie He and do a crossover how awesome would that be?

I love this novel alot and glad I didn't miss out. I can read another 1000 chapters, it never makes me bored, always look forward to a new world and story, some of these stories can even be it's own mini novels. 10 stars novel this one ! <<less

I’ve only read up to arc 10 but something that has really been bugging me is the MC and ML’s lack of chemistry.

Spoiler

In the first few arcs it felt okay, but in the later arcs it doesn’t even feel like the MC likes the ML or enjoys being around him until he realizes the ML is his lover from past worlds. He can “recognize” the ML by kissing him or being intimate with him, so he’ll sometimes randomly kiss the wrong person to test whether they are his lover. I feel like if they are true lovers or meant to be, they should be able to recognize each other by their personality or care for each other.

The people who will read this story should be aware that MC is not a good person and ML too. There are many things in the story that will surpass your moral bottom line. And this story should be read knowing that this is fantasy, and must not be taken seriously.

For me, QWFOD is a masterpiece in poking your guilty-pleasures. And is good because it showcase the reason why many people become addicted to world-hopping. It is not completly a no-brainer (at least you burn calories remembering the names haha)... more>> but it is not overly-complicated. Moreover, there's a lit of varieties. When you need a very satisfactory face-slapping you have your arc. When you need tears and angst, you have your arc. When you want lots of drama, you can have it. Or just want a bit like no-brainer everything is solved in one stroke, there are arcs for you.

I have read this story around the time I've just started in reading BL novels. And honestly, sometimes I hardly I understand some scenes. I had to re-read and re-read so I can understand it. Recently, I re-read this again but did not complete the story and I kinda smoothly passed the chapters. So yeah. That's all.

Oh yeah, I haven't read the extra chapters yet. I think. But I already read the smt part. <<less

  1. Well, I just had to review this because I really think there are some misunderstandings about this novel. Serious misunderstandings. I will try to not make spoilers, this is not about telling about what the novel is about but a... Warning?

(If I put it like that, sounds like this is not good, it is, I promised).

    • First: SOME ARC INCLUDES DUBIOUS CONSENT (there's also an ABO world and that implies some consent issues) AND in*est (non-blood related in*est but don't f*ck with me, that's in*est nevertheless),

so some people might feel uncomfortable or triggered reading it. If you're that kind of people, I suggest you to back off even if lot of people recommend you this story.
    • Edit (after finishing the novel) : literally, in the arc of the Cuckold Emperor, our MC says very clearly "If I wasn't me, and you weren't you, this would be considered r*pe, you know, animal!" That line is very fuzzy because of how crazy they are for eachother (not kidding, they're really really crazy). So, as I said, precaution.
    • Also, both the MC and the ML have some "quirks" that might feel adorable for eachother but for us -people outside the story and with at least some emotional development- the readers, might find sorta psychotic. Not ultra yandere levels of psychotic, but if possessive and a bit unreasonable characters annoys you, avoid this at all cost.
    • Second: This isn't the best novel you will ever found, doesn't have the best world-buildings or the best characters development, actually, its character development sucks. But, if you're new in all this reading novels path, it will be a really pleasant reading. THIS MEANS: READ IT WITH AN OPEN MIND, DON'T EXPECT TO MUCH. I love this type of novels, I know the format and I'm already really acostumed to the face-slaping, OP, manipulative and cunning but charming MC. This character, and we know it from the first chapter, is well-known as The Pretender, he's an actor and one of the best so what he really does in every world is give

some cheats to the body he's using and then make use of the natural talent the original body has and then everything around him inevitably goes the way he wants.
      Spoiler

My favourite arc definitely was the apocalypse one, zombies are the most cliche setting

but it was the first world in which our MC struggled. He had a disadvantage on his body that is already dying from the start and in the first four chapters the MC and the ML couldn't even interact because one is a force ghost (not kidding, the ML is an experimental subject since he has some healing abilities and when the MC enter the world -which is one where are double rebirth setting - the ML was in the edge of immolation and to start the plot that would definitely lead to the MC death, so he had to damage his own body and soul to put him down without killing him. The ML is in comma but his spirit is aware of everything and follows the MC through all the process of creating a vaccine for the Zombie virus.) And the other is too busy trying to save the world -and himself- to even worry about romance. I liked this arc so much because I thought, yes, this is what I wanted, something that is really challenging our MC but it didn't last much, our MC finally died and the rebirth plot of this world is triggered because of it (so basically the ML rebirth with the memories of the world where the MC was a good person and then everything goes smoothly for our MC and their romance in that world is a flower path). That f*cking hurt because everything before that was so exciting that after it felt like the whole arc was a kind of waste

      [collapse]
So, it's a satisfying reading but not a fulfilling one, good for starters but a bit disappointing for the ones that are familiar with the format, nevertheless, it's well written and translated, so it has its kind of charm (at least, I like the MC and the ML and that's a lot to say in QT stories.)
    • Third: That this is not the best, doesn't immediately means this is tr*sh. It's really worth reading. Just... Be careful, there are not much "deep" feelings in there (when I say this, I'm referring to that "tragedy" or "bittersweet" or even "happiness" sense that we sometimes get from reading one or two arcs of a QT novel, well, it's not here, you'll probably don't even shed a tear after reading this nor will feel bad or happy when the MC and the ML achieve something or lost something, and for me

that is a big no-no, because

the emotional impact the characters has on the reader is what makes them lovable, they're really alive when they make you feel at least something.)
Edit: About my thoughts above, I have a recommendation for those who are looking for character development, nice world building or at least, good twists on cliche kind

of world, a reasonably healthy relationship, with a cunning MC and a very good ML (like, if this man existed in real life, I would fight for his hand in marriage because goddamn that Lou Ying, he's husband material). That exists! It's hard to find, but exists. Don't pick up boyfriends from the tr*sh bin

is amazing in all that, and actually put into perspective our "beloved" typical ML (not you, Zhao Xuan -ML of FOD- we love you here) in a "real-life" setting, like, we love to read an overbearing, possessive, kind of crazy or tsundere or aloof ML, but if that relationship would develop in our real life, those are pretty big neon red flags

that would make us call the police. I'm not here to talk about that piece of art, but if you can, go take a look, it's worth it (though inevitable will be compared with FOD because it has the same premise as a QT story but it's different from the start. A comparison is unfair since the stories they want to tell are too far away from eachother, their objectives are too diverse to reconcile).

I started reading this nice work out of recommendation, but, like from five different people with very unmatched likes (after realising that this goes through the most clich

worlds to some pretty interesting ones, I kinda get the reason why, at least one arc will suit your tastes). It's a -as I said above- a pretty nice reading, the pace is fast (slow enough to explain the world, the original story and then make the MC give us a twisted plot rollercoaster) and though the MC and the ML are enough to make it entertaining, the supporting characters of every world are... Well, I just read it and I forgot almost all their names with a remarkable exception (Ivana, you won my heart, you're now my new fictional crush, that woman is worth to be remembered).

So. All in All, is not the best nor the worst. I suppose you can say it's a must for everyone, beginners or experience readers but that gap between the two is what will decide if you love it, hate it, or you're indifferent.

Edit: The Extra 1 who is about XZX is killing me, I mean, I know is not the best but goddamn it, I like it so much I can't stop reading it. Can't wait for the updates about it.

XZX was the only character, apart from Ivana, that I really liked. Actually, before our MC found XY I firmly thought he was our ML of that world! Of course, he wasn't, but he was such a lovable character, I was so sad with the life he had after our MC and ML face slap everyone. Like, he was kind of a bastard but we are informed that he actually has issues in understanding people feelings and actions, so it makes sense the way he behaved. And this second chance, though I love our quirky and possessive and bit unreasonable and crazy ML, felt really nice! He has a chance! I'm really excited to se what's going to happen from here on.

I very much enjoy this story.

The plot varies from simple and fun to absolutely heartbreaking. The main character is interesting and entertaining, and manages not to lose himself even while submerging himself in so many other characters.

Wow. Just wow.

This is one of the best web novels I have read. The writer is wonderful and the translator has done an excellent job too. (Though the xianxia was harder for me to read cause I don't read a lot of it.)

I couldn't put the book down for 3 days straight. Even at the end of arcs, I was muttering "I'll stop after one more paragraph." Didn't happen.

I don't usually write reviews, but I can't not when a book is this awesome.

The main points I had that made me dislike this novel:

  • Main character is a hacker that somehow turns against the system within the first chapter.
  • The main hook in the first chapter is boring.
Starting off in a climax in a novel is enjoyable to read, but the author tells what happens and does not show how the scene went. The protagonist is said to be monologuing as the villain to his victim, but there's no actual dialogue. For all I know, he could be speaking in Pig Latin and extolling his... more>> love for his victim.

I stopped at chapter 1.1 because the story now dumps a load of information to the reader. Surely the author could space it out just like his chapters, since there's going to be many chapter 1's.

This is not the best review, but this novel also isn't the best novel on Novel Updates about villains as protagonists. <<less

Now, I've got a lot to say about this novel.

I'm a devout avid reader in the unlimited flow genre, and I really enjoy critically rating novels- in my mind that is. Usually when I recommend novels it would be based on how enjoyable it was and not the technical aspects.

FOD is one of those novels that I like to refer to as 'brainrot', it's simply there to make you feel good (shuai) and that's about it, and that's exactly why I read it, when I saw the reviews, I was... more>> immediately aware of what kind of novel this was going to be: a repetitive face slapping novel with an op and beautiful MC together with an extremely possessive and strong ML, something I would read just for fun, but oh lord.

  • MC; Zhou Yunsheng - Nothing surprising, even better than I expected honestly, he wasn't naive and was also very headstrong, and he does what he wants. However, this is where I was irked. Now let me emphasize, I did NOT think of this as an actual read but more like a filler- just feel-good brainrot, and that's how I enjoyed this novel (I didn't critisize ANYTHING) but at one point I was itching to question everything, the author overpraises him to be a genius, 180 IQ, supercomputer processing e.t.c e.t.c, alright, I'll admit that's why I even read face-slapping, but this is one that's hard to pull off, Intelligence. Making strong characters is easy as they just destroy everything but smart characters? there needs to be consistency. To defend him by stating his high IQ caused him to have low EQ (trust issues whatever) is absolutely ridiculous, this man, LITERALLY cannot use his supergenius brain to analyze someone's actions and figure out who the ML is???? It's PAINFULLY obvious the author is dragging it for face-slapping purposes but it's so frustrating and ooc, it's just s*upid.
  • ML ; Uhh, he's whatever to be honest, stereotypical gong who's either possessive, fanboy (i like this one) or black-bellied. HAS to be 190 cm+, sturdy chest and a huge diao. No character development, and he just exists.
  • SIDE CHARACTERS ; I liked Ivana she was cool, but like don't expect anything.

    PLOT
  • Repetitive face slapping, fun when not s*upid and interesting when you're bored, the instances are not intense, well thought-out, compelling, complex or anything worth mentioning, I personally liked the apocalypse arc as it was probably the only intense one? and MC's s*upidity can be excused as he did try to kiss him.
  • You can skip any arc you don't want to read, it doesn't matter, there's no development or anything so if you find anything boring, please go ahead. I'm writing this review as I contemplate whether I should drop this novel or not as the Holy god arc? the MC doesn't even think anymore. ROMANCE
  • Like a few have mentioned, it's actually just fated lust (?) but we know the feelings are deep but the author could have described it in a more wholesome manner. MC is actually pretty faithful in this aspect as he only wants to love ML, this, I understand, it can be inferred he loves Du Xu lang as it's his traces he looks for (I haven't finished the book) but.. from here I understand the author has probably never deeply fallen in love with anyone. MC being in love with ML is quite questionable if he needs to kiss him to know, especially how most of the time he's been so close to him. Being faithful and In love are pretty different. Love is all about subtleties, not lust- the temperament, the pheromones, there are so many scientific aspects, and this guy has to KISS him to know? sighs...
  • ML actually feels strong attraction towards him, he can also observe subtleties (pursing lips, likes drinking milk e.t.c) the MC also started off noticing these subtleties BEFORE he knew ML was in the world, after he knew, the author just forgot. tsk.. especially when I compare it to other novels (mu su li ah!) it's painful, and GUEE is much better than this especially if you like the fated lovers trope with a much MUCH more well written plot (it's also feel good), not the best but the characters and romance have beautiful development. (shameless mu su li advertising)
CRITICAL RATING

  • TECHNICALITY (once more, NOT a factor!), inconsistent writing, random plot holes, forgotten details, no character development, deus ex machina basically. 0/5
  • PLOT, for a brainrot, the plot is actually pretty fun, especially if you're bored but there's a lot of avoidable frustrations included, but still repetitive and tactless, no thought involved and lazy face-slapping writing. 1/5
  • ROMANCE, ML maybe, MC, +1 for loyalty, but it felt forced, barely any subtleties, 90% lust. 0.5/5
  • CHARACTERS, cardboard cut-outs with their traits written on them, no development whatsoever. 0/5 OVERALL RATING
  • BRAINROT, the face-slapping was pretty satisfying and for that aspect. 5/5
  • FEELS, it wasn't cringy per se, you could laugh or maybe even fangirl, shed a few tears. 2/5 CONCLUSION

I'm solely recommending this novel based on it's enjoyability and not it's technical aspects but I've still mentioned it above, for the faceslapping and brainrot, it's extremely feel-good and fun so I'd give it a 5/5 but there was so many frustrating points my rationality couldn't digest so a FINAL RATING OF 3/5.
