Along with the other members, Raniel sets out on adventures to slay the Demon Lord—the evil being who trampled his village long ago. He spends four years defeating the dark forces and grinding half of his life to save his team, only to find out that his effort has been in vain. Kyle suddenly kicks Raniel out of the party one day, claiming that their goals are different. Devastated after getting betrayed by his team, Raniel decides to return to the tower, but things grow worse when he runs into a succubus queen on his way back, gets cursed, and realizes… he has turned into a girl?!

I believe there are many readers who are interested in this novel from the manhwa's release. The novel received top ranking on Novelpia, and has received some awards as well.

For me, this novel is considered well written. There is a clear direction of the story that focus on the personalities and development of MC. Including the relationships between the characters.

The story at the beginning is not very interesting. But it will gradually increase in interest after reading for a while.

I know there are reasons and elements that make this novel... more>> unpopular. Or not worth following in the beginning, such as changing the gender of MC or being kicked out of a party that seemed unreasonable.

But when you get to the point where the story reveals itself, I can tell that the breakup in the party makes a lot more sense than in other novels I've read.

Spoiler

The reason for the party's breakup doesn't happen for a simple reason like in other novels. It has nothing to do with the characters' strengths or weaknesses. It is not a matter of personal likes or dislikes. But it's a matter of personality. And complex relationships, especially MC and the hero, which leads to the conclusion of the first part of the novel.

[collapse]

And things that initially didn't make sense to you will disappear once you've gotten to the point where they're revealed. This novel is a good novel, but because of problems in the presentation at the beginning, many people have drop it away. For this reason, I recommend it to readers who are interested in this novel. This novel is worthy enough for you to read at least once. Don't worry it won't be worth it. It's definitely worth reading. <<less

I've been reading this for a while now, so I'd like to think I have a decent grasp of the story.

tl;dr - ... more>>
Spoiler

Gender Bender is relatively unimportant. MC is dynamic. MC is also OP. Side characters have growth and personality.

[collapse]

First off, I won't say this is a masterpiece. But, it's pretty damn good overall. There is a lot of character growth, and for once : the MC wasn't just kicked out of the party for dumb reasons. I know, crazy, right?

Secondly, there is also a decent bit of mystery involved in this series. Especially about the MC's current predicament. Having said that, while the MC was genderbent, it's not really a significant emotional/psychological issue. If you're looking for an in-depth trans-series, look elsewhere. The psychological tag is for other important spoilers.

Thirdly, does the MC getting genderbent have any major effect on the story? Not really, but it does have plot relevant reasons that are not touched on for a long while.

Lastly, the MC is both a genius when it comes to magic and extremely strong in both martial and magical techniques. (Overpowered? Absolutely, but not the strongest, yet).

P.S. The Tragedy tag exists for a reason. But I'd say it's on the lighter side of emotional damage. <<less

The series definitely has a rough start but it quickly picks up steam. The setup is definitely the weakest, looking like a combination of 'banished from the party' and random gender bend. Well, the banishment is taken seriously here. The Hero Party doesn't fall apart immediately just because their most important member is gone, and that's because despite their character the members are all competent in their own ways. The MC did handle many things for the party, but there's actually a scene where the Hero muses that he expected... more>> the loss in performance and had somewhat prepared for it.

The gender bend is done more for the MC to show up in a different body, clearly related to his past self but also clearly not his past self, and due to the rules of the magic setting any spellcaster would find it inconsiderable that she is actually him.

It quickly turns into an academy story, except this time the MC is a here as a teacher. From here the story hits its stride, as she deals with classes, politics, and demon attacks. The protagonist is hyper competent but not infallible, so it's fun to go from moments where she shines to moments that make you laugh at her.

I also like that there's a bit of a well developed magic system here - some of the chapters go into depth regarding her lectures though this may be less interesting to people who don't really care about the technobabble. However, it's somewhat refreshing to see some details put in here even if they pad out the word count somewhat. <<less

It's well written and I do like the MC but I wish the TS effected them more. I also want to know why it was done...

Wish I could read it all but I don't think there is a way to without paying out the ass for each and every chapter

The characters are three-dimensional and distinctive. Each character has their own values and acts according to their own beliefs. The author reflects the characteristics of the characters well until the end. It's different from mass-produced novels. I like that they didn't pull off a generic character. Come out and keep the character until the end.

It's a TS, but TS is just the author's passion for writing. =_=

I've tried reading the manga. At first the presentation was very s*upid. I recommend that you try reading the first chapter of the novel.... more>> The novel is much better presented than the manga and the author was able to finish it without ruining it. <<less

It's actually pretty well written, but I think people looking for a gender-bender gimmick are disappointed with what they find. For all intents and purposes, the protagonists gender change has almost no effect on the story telling whatsoever. It happened, and now the story doesn't care anymore. Even the protagonist just sees it as a convenient tool to hide their identity and just doesn't care anymore beyond that.

The story did the same thing with the other gimmick. People may think this is another story using the gimmick where the most... more>> important member of a team leaves and the team that threw them out constantly get reminders about how important that person was. That does happen, but it's the mildest interpretation of that gimmick I've ever read by far. The protagonist is important and powerful, but there's maybe a scene reflecting the teams regret once every 20 chapters. And it's only to the point of "Damn, we used to be able to clear the monsters twice as fast before."

The actual storytelling itself is pretty good, nothing amazing. If you ignore the failed gimmicks, it would be a weak 4/5 stars. I'm taking off points because it's really not crazy interesting or impressive. I'm not in love with it. It's a good time-waster.

However, those gimmicks exist and I'm tempted to knock it lower than 3 as you can only read this novel on Tappytoon where you have to pay like a dollar or two per chapter and the chapters really aren't that long. Buying all the currently release chapters will probably cost you around 70 dollars. <<less

Note: My personal ratings are biased, and I already emphasized it a lot, but once again; all to your own. To add, English is not my first language so there might be some grammatical errors, though your minds would probably adjust it for you.

Objectively, this series is not the best for most people, because of the generic-sounding title and the TS genre (that is not really affecting MC as much as some might expect.), and also the fact that there are many repetitions of sentences or points here and... more>> there—and I completely understand.

Still, people have their own opinions, and personally—I like this story.

At first I hate and dislike the member of the Hero party, but continuing on, I actually quite like them. They're honestly unlike other stories that have the same concept. They're competent in their own ways as some have already said, and I also enjoy the development of their characters.

The writing at the start is not very great—decent at most. But despite that, I still enjoyed it, even if I use MTL. Then comes the Northern arc—which is honestly super great. One of my favorite arc—and from then on, the writing got better.

I like how the author present the MC as someone who is fast at adapting, a genius, but never realized that aspect of his (now her) part. And I also like the fact that even though Raniel is shown as someone that can do anything easily, (s) he is still human, someone who has clear flaws and learn from said flaws.

Other characters is also very in depth, and my personal favorite is;
Spoiler

Galahal. Who's arc is the most tearful (my opinion) and just—AGRHEHJWJ my baby :' ((. And his dynamic with Raniel is just– *chef kiss* wonderful. I view them as parent and child (Galahal being the child) but their dynamic could work as siblings, or perhaps romantic. But I mostly view them as family. I also like Ganikalt's character too—he's just so... Knigtly, you know? If Galahal is the most Heroic Hero—then Ganikalt is the most Knightly Hero, proudest if I may add. Ok looking back, that's pretty cringe. Glazing final boss:

[collapse]

Well, that is all from me. It's my first time commenting and sharing my opinion, but honestly don't take it to heart. What matters most is your own opinion and the way you view this story. This review is just an opinion (slightly biased). Some may find it boring, some enjoyed it—but who cares? It's their opinion.

TLDR; In my opinion, this story is great if you pushed through the errors and things at the first chapters. But mostly, just read it yourself and decide if you want to continue or not; but I advice for you to continue reading. That's all.

((Edit: I just want to add that I found this by reading the manhwa first—which is an adaptation from the novel. The adaptation is not that great, decent at most, but I still enjoyed it (i fw fem MCs (TS included) no romance) —and so I decided to read the novel, which answer most of my questions that the manhwa didn't explore. What I'm trying to say is; read the novel first then the manhwa to picture the scenes better. But hey, all to your own. ¯_ (ツ) _/¯)) <<less
