Very very exciting book. What I've read so far reminds me a lot of Top Management as far as the actual quality goes, and I think it's fairly widely agreed Top Management is probably the best idol manager webnovel ever made. Likeable enough main character, terrific supporting cast, funny when it's supposed to be funny, serious when it's supposed to be serious. A real quality book.

I'll keep reading, but I needed to write a review at this point. I don't know which came first, but between this, Top Management, and Max Level Rookie (don't remember the full name / not translated the same way everywhere), my favorite is still the latter by a wide margin, for one main reason:

The MC is a likeable character.

But this is not a review of that novel. Many novels suffer from a protagonist who is supposed to be smarter than the author, which can then not be depicted convincingly. That... more>> is not the case here. Not because the MC is smart, but because he's consistently s*upid, and lacks not just basic insight or emotional intelligence (dense MCs are common either way), but also any measure of proper self-reflection.

Compared to the stumbling and hypocritical MC (who even got screwed in his original life despite already having a cheat - that's how incompetent he is), most of the side characters are actually likeable and carry the story, and it's much easier to care about them than the MC.

I do think the author went a bit overboard with the personality issues of the girls, but on the other hand it makes it more credible for them to fall in love with the MC. Highly functional people probably wouldn't. <<less

people seem to hate on this main character in this comment section but I don't think that's justified. He reminds me of Korin Lork from "I killed the Academy Player", but if Korin actually experienced internal character conflict based on how he has been treated, which is not a flaw. Our MC says he's going to try and live more selfishly - and then he doesn't, although he keeps thinking about trying.
Spoiler

He has tried a few times. He feels guilt immediately, but although he doesn't know it, every time he does it he's pulling the other character out of a worse situation.

[collapse]

I actually like the girls too - all so far have personality and anxieties. The novel isn't glorifying the idol world either. As for their relationship with MC: If you like heavy love, you will like this novel.
Spoiler

We haven't seen overtly yandere tendencies, but this is absolutely a relationship of dependency. He pulls them out of such awful situations that they begin to rely on him emotionally and seek validation from him. He has no intentions so far of seeing them any way aside from as essentially little sisters he really wants to succeed. That's better character writing in my book than "well they just really like him", but it won't be for everyone.

[collapse]

I think the writing is fantastic, and the translation is of good quality. :)

Man I love this story a lot. It's such a great blend of characters who want to change in their lives, yet usually are unable to. All 4 MCs (I only had a very brief encounter with autumn, the 4th protag in the story) are people who are framed with multiple problems in their life, and are refusing to help themselves come out from their situations, until a singular encounter with a person, who slowly shifts their perspective upon how f*cked up, and reliant they have been on others, and... more>> on their excuses to refute change. The story does have pretty interesting characters, but I feel like (atleast till the point I read till), the characters themselves haven't been truly challenged. I especially feel like a lotta work should have been done in the proper characterization of the MC, cuz he genuinely just feels like a blank slate, who will help people cuz he "wants to defy fate" or some bukaroo sh*t like that. It ain't fun at all.

This is an overall good novel. The only complaint that I have is that the site that was translating this one (Sky Demon Order) has removed the original link for it, and thus it's a lot harder to read since you can't really find any notable site to read it from. I mean, sure, you could probably find one if you searched hard enough, but the issue is that there isn't a 'recognized' translation site for it right now. Hopefully, there will be one soon.

Anywho, beside my tangent of dead... more>> links, I'll state once more that this is a good novel. The only possible flaw I could give it is the fact that the MC was greatly naive and ignorant in his past life. But is that even an actual flaw? Considering that MC gets better and redeems himself, it's more so a plot tool to show that why the MC is who he is and that he's actually growing and developing past his naive self.

Without getting into any spoilers, the novel basically boils down to a repetition of events, albeit with major differences sprinkled about to make it so it isn't dull and repetitive. Like those Chinese novels about the MC fighting the young noble lord, only for that young noble lord to call their father, and then that father calling the grandfather, and so on and so forth. But in this case, it's done in a better way in which it progresses the plot and doesn't fall into an endless boring loop.

The girls are generally ok as well. But something that irks me personally is the harem, or how the harem is being treated currently, to be precise. Like, of course what's happening is realistic based on the personality of the girls and their relation with the MC, but still, does it really have to be this tense? Compared to the novel's more lighthearted tone (take that with a grain of salt), the tension goes on for multiple arcs, and it's quite frustrating to see for me. Like those romcoms that make it so that the two protagonists don't confess to each other until only after a few hundred chapters are out. But this too seems to be getting progressed, so I believe this frustration to be just a personal one coming from me, and not something you, the reader, will probably be that irked about.

If you want to understand in-depth what I'm saying, then you'll have to read the novel yourself. If you don't find the premise and my and others' reviews on it appealing, then all power to you if you don't want to read it. But if you feel interested, then give it a read, I assure you it won't feel gravely disappointing. <<less
