“Leo, thank you for remembering and coming to find me first. I mean it.”

“If you’re grateful, promise me you’ll never distance yourself from me again.”

Having transmigrated into a villain role in a medieval-style BL novel, Chaeyi decided to survive and build good connections by carefully raising and sending back the main character, Leonard, who would otherwise be destined to kill him.

However, it seems there was a bit of misunderstanding during their period of no contact.

“Chaeyi, I clearly told you not to run away.”

Years later, the once small and fragile boy returned, unrecognizable.

3 stars.

It's a 'meh' story. I never really understood the appeal of 'raising your lover' stories. Yes, MC didn't have the intention of g*ooming the ML and the ML is the one to instigate, but it's still weird. I always try to read stories like these as they are but still no appeal.

I feel like this would've been a better story if MC was transmigrated as the 'FL' or one of those side characters omegas that have a huge presence in the story. Yes, the character's transmigrated body's back story... more>> was interesting to the summary of the story but so were the others.

MC feels like your standard transmigrated MC. I do however liked that MC's obliviousness seemed genuine and not really manufactured to where it seemed like willful blindness. His interactions was fun to read.

ML seemed bland? Typical yandere dark knight but bland? His character development from the beginning of the story was great but the middle and end, it felt like his character development slowed down by a lot. Even the ending seemed subpar despite it being a happy one. It just feels like he's letting everything slide because the MC said so. No real self-reflection.

But overall it wasn't a bad read. I just felt a little unsatisfied in how it ended. Reading the first released side story, I feel like the author should leave the mystery of his transmigration alone. Let the reader's imagine the mystery than explain it. I won't be looking for the rest of the side stories.

I do recommend giving this a try if you're not looking for anything particular to read. <<less

I'm finding I don't really like "raising a lover" tropes. I used to be okay with it, but lately...

It inevitably involves a breaking of trust and affection between parent-figure and child. Usually it's the child breaking that arrangement in these stories, because the other way around is too obviously pe*o-vibes, but that doesn't mean it isn't icky.

If the child you've been raising starts to have s*xual feeling for you, it's still icky.

They're confusing emotional security, admiration, and affection with romantic feelings and while it's understandable to be confused and have... more>> a crush on an older mentor, it's still a betrayal of the mentor's paternal/maternal feelings.

And if the older party casts aside those parental feelings to indulge the child's s*xual ones, well, that's even weirder.

This one feels even weirder because the MC is at the start mentally in his late 30's and the romance starts in he is mentally in his mid 50's. He was "35" when he first crossed over and very much treated the ML like his son. (His body is early 20's to mid 30s now)

So even with the time leap and them both being full adults when romance happens, I'm not looking forward to it. <<less

Can anyone provide a legit review for this story and not their chastised comment on morality for a FANTASY story please. I like to read reviews of what to expect before diving in.

On a personal rant based on the other persons remark:

Yes, IRL this is not a desirable outcome when raising a child but this is a fantasy story.

More often than not, these stories are written in a way that even though the "adult" also succumbs to the romance, they act childish about the whole ordeal anyways. Which honestly debunks... more>> the "mature" aspect of the character. You start to feel they're the same age until the author brings up the "mental age" to keep you engaged in the moral dilema the character is going through.

Also, "mental age" is complete nonsense for the regression and transmigration tropes, period. For multiple legit psychological and physical reasons that are actually legit in modern medicine.

More often than not, most of these characters in these particular tropes act either the age of the body they transmigrated into or like completely spoiled children with woe-is-me main character syndrome that makes mistakes after mistakes to keep the story going.

Often times these transmigrated characters act as if they were still in our modern world and it sincerely makes me wonder how they haven't yet been labeled heretics and burned at the stake. But, well, it's just a story and these characters as designed like this to keep the story going so I move on or drop the novel.

On that note if you think these particular "age gap" tropes that involve initial parental love instead of romance are icky, then don't read them, end of story. <<less

It's actually a very nice story to read. No unnecessary drama or fight, all the characters are well written and not a single one of them are dry.

Despite the fact that the ML loves the MC dearly, he hasn't cross a single boundary and respects the MCs wishes which is rare (although its the bare minimum) because most danmeis I've read, all the MLs are shit.

The MC is your usual sweet and kind person but he's actually strong and can protect himself. He also communicates his feelings well to the... more>> ML and so does the ML.

ps. If you think its weird then don't read it but think twice though 'cause this novel is a masterpiece. <<less

Honestly, the first part of this story is really interesting, ONLY THE FIRST PART, more like the starting point of the plot. It was intriguing BUT as the story progress I just felt like the author put or like added some plot twist or random events just to keep the story going. Not only that, I thought like the vibes of the MC would be consistent to the end of the story but no its not.

Why?

Idk I just feel like the author made the MC VERY VERY NAIVE like super... more>> naive despite his mental age (for me lol).

And at the end of the story...

Spoiler

THE MC LITERALLY LEFT THE ML just moments before the ML'S RUT (they made some agreement regarding this though, u know when u read).

Anyways, this action made me.. somehow threw off the MC cuz gurll the ML has the very reason as to why he ain't using suppressant and that the ML will go nuts when you leave, but the MC just decided to leave but only for HIM TO RETURN!!

Like the plot doesn't make sense anymore if its like this ಠ_ಠ

There's also a plot where it was hmm the elves arc smth anyway in that arc the author just make the MC like a very special person without explaining why?? Like in this part I just felt like the author deliberately add this so that to make the MC have an aura that has a cool effect on him TT

[collapse]

Srsly the author just put some random plots or something just to keep the story going to the point that it somehow feel like it's useless (for me though not sure if anyone agrees)

This is honestly a good read if you don't have anything to read anymore and like killing time just that you're bored or smth BUT if you have a veryy HIGH STANDARDS in novels then this ain't for you baby :) <<less
