Pure Mermaid Top x Hot-Tempered, Rough-Handed Bottom

Lu Xie, injured on a mission, hides out in a small seaside shop to recover. One day, while working at the shop, a wavy silver-haired handsome man walks in.

Hai San’er: “I’m pregnant.”

Lu Xie (rolling his eyes): “You’re crazy. You’re a guy—how can you be pregnant?”

Hai San’er: “I’m a mermaid.”

Lu Xie (slightly patient, but not much): “Even if you’re a mermaid, you’re still a male fish.”

Hai San’er: “Male fish can get pregnant too.”

Lu Xie (fuming): “You’re the one who f*cking made me pregnant!”

There’s a baby—it’s a little pearl, and it will eventually turn into a little mermaid. The top (Hai San’er) is the biological parent.

I dislike the MC and won’t be continuing reading because of him.

On the 1st chap, ML (the mermaid) suddenly appeared in front of MC and said he is pregnant.

MC didn’t believe ML, got pissed, pushed him, shouted at him etc.

... more>> Then, at night, ML returned again and it turns out MC actually remembers who ML is (MC remembers that ML saved him when he was drowning).

But MC isn’t the least bit grateful. In fact, when ML showed MC the pearl (baby), MC took the pearl and threw it. Then afterwards, on the next chapters, MC continued to be rude and shout/push/threaten ML.

I understand that ML seems crazy and all (for saying he is a merman and pregnant)

But!!! Considering that ML actually saved his life, I think the MC should have the decency to atleast treat ML nicely or simple not just be rude to him. <<less

This was a fun read for a short story, a 4.7 for me.

The MC is tough probably because of his environment growing up while the ML is so persistent, funny, and uncivilized gorgeous good-natured merman. The pearl concept was unique but I was horrified how it was always tossed by its mama lol.

The ocean is vast but it's lonely for young mermans.

It irks me thou how the MC's attitude was towards his son's partner in the extras.

Real question: who fertilized the pearl if the top topped and the pearl also birth from the top?

I endure through the end hoping it'll get better, maybe the MC/ML become more likable, and there might be some more explanation the Pearl's birth process, but unfortunately it did not. I did not find the cry baby ML endearing nor do I find the tough lone wolf MC likable. There's also no explanation to the process of merfolks reproduction process.

I know it's fantasy. Not not all things needs explanation nor be believable,... more>> but I was hoping the author would at least try to give whatever fantasy logic they had going on have at least some logical explanation.

It also became ridiculous in the extra when the MC

blamed the poor human boy, who clearly is also the bottom, for their merman son's pregnancy. Lol

I loved the first half and it was fun to read about a ML that was the total antithesis to what I prefer in mls. (Idk, I find his crying and emotionally needy ways endearing) but the latter half really dropped the ball for me. The MC and ML never said I love you explicitly like I was waiting for, and the romance kind of fell off when their child was born.... more>>

also, once again the kid can take care of himself after being with them for like one week, so if you go into this for the childcare tag you won't be getting any of that as usual in danmei mpreg novels. I have complained several times before but Mpreg danmei never feeds me the pregnancy and childcare tropes I want. I'm actually starting to think chinese authors might hate actual children because the way children are written as basically adults so they don't need any parenting just continues to be weird for me.
It was still fun, and it was nice that the story had a unique plotline without the standard danmei tropes but the author clearly rushed the ending and she actually left it half complete with that last extra that ended on a cliff hanger. Imo, She shouldn't have done the extra with their son if she wasn't actually going to finish it. This was the worst half baked ending I've ever read in a novel, actually.

We find out their son is pregnant and literally nothing more. We don't find out what happens with his love interest either. It was just sucky all around

I'm disappointed after such a good start. It's still worth reading for the first 18chps, but I have to give it a four with all my issues with it.

Also this is strictly about the translation now. I think the translator used chatgp to translate it because the translator forgot to delete text showing she used something like this in certain chps.

Edit: I see one of the translators clarified on my comment about using chatgp so I'll remove this complaint about the translation from my review. As long as No one is solely using chatgp for translations I don't have a problem with using it as a tool to help with translating.😊 <<less

It's been a while since I've left reviews here but considering the recent review, I think it's my responsibility to clarify. But first I'll be leaving my review of this story.

I like the fact that the seme was the one who got pregnant, it's rare to see these types of tropes. I don't really like the uke though, but I like how he turned from a jerkwad into a protective momma bear for his cub. It's not really my usual interest because I mostly prefer reading omegaverse but it's cute... more>> for a short read.

I agree with one of the reviews that I didn't like how MC was such an as*hole to his cub's mating partner though.

As for the translation, I'm one of the translators of this novel. I think it's my part of the chapters that had the ai prompt because I've used chatgpt for certain chapters. For that, I want to take full accountantability. Although, I also just want to clarify that even though I've mostly used chatgpt (and quillbot) for help with smooth phrasing and I've certainly used its prompts, I still referred to the raws for the context and mostly just uses it so it will sound more flowy. I just want to leave it here to be honest with the others, and because I don't want my other co-translator to take blame of what I've done. I'm really sorry for that <<less

I don't usually do reviews but I feel like I have to for this one.

The MC was truly not that great of a person during the first few chapters, but you have to keep in mind that he is a bounty hunter who had maybe seen many dark and bad things.

... more>> Also honestly, who would believe a starked naked man telling you he is pregnant with a pearl? If it were me, I would have called the police 😅

but but but!!! The MC will get better maybe after ch 10? I think he had a very cute dynamic with the foolish merman hihi you just have to give them a chance 😘

Also their kid, the little mermaid, is so cuteeeeeee! I was kinda unsatisfied with the extras tho since I want more of their son's storyyy. Overall, this was a very fun read 🫶 <<less
