The young master of the Qin family, cherished and adored, has grown up to be a striking figure, proud and aloof, impossible to ignore. Rebelliousness is his only flaw. He neglected his studies and, by the age of fourteen, was already traveling the world, gracing the runway as a model.

The old man of the Qin family, with his traditional mindset and fiery temper, upheld strict family rules yet turned a blind eye to his precious grandson. People lamented, “Spoiling him! Spoiling him!”

Until the day of the coming-of-age ceremony. A seat was specially reserved next to Qin Bao.

Midway through the banquet, the owner of that seat finally arrived, fashionably late. The young Alpha, the center of everyone’s attention, was so busy with his career that he hadn’t even changed into formal attire, wearing only a dignified black coat. He seemed like a hidden sword, suddenly drawn, sharp and imposing.

Gentle, yet fierce, he came for his destined Omega.

DOG BLOOD DOG BLOOD DOG BLOOD!! Consider this your serious warning. If you're checking this out in hopes of reading something sweet yet spicy and wholesome, leave as soon as possible. I may have almost pulled an all nighter to read this, but this was not enjoyable for fluff lovers like me by any means.

Our MC is proud and our ML is arrogant. With that combo, you can know for sure that you're in for a rough time in terms of conflict management. And that is exactly the theme of... more>> this story: when misunderstandings stack upon misunderstandings and with no communication at all to bridge the gap, it's a wonder that they even lasted so long. The painful thing is that the author makes it difficult to really blame either side for their actions. When reading from the MC's perspective, it was indeed humiliating for him to be treasuring his love for the past few years and then learn that the ML had likely only been indulging him due to his sense of responsibility for a childhood arranged marriage. And since we know all of his little moves, such as him obsessively ordering the same exact watch as the ML, it's hard to believe how the ML might have thought that the MC had never liked the ML in the first place.

The ML has indeed paid a lot for their relationship: the revelation of the time when he was plotted by a 90% compatibility omega was shocking. We also eventually learn that the ML did indeed fall in love with the MC by the time the MC turned into an adult (only in the extras though so way too late). This is part of the reason I lay most of the blame for the whole relationship debacle on the ML. This story could have easily been converted into a fluff showbiz-political power couple if after that first night the ML had explained to the MC that he never intended to bother about the arranged marriage at first but he had fallen in love with the MC after following all of his activities for the past few years. Bam. Expresses his love and mutual feelings for the MC, supports the MC in his job, gives the MC respect and freedom from his family. If he had said anything like that, the MC who was already so in love with him would have definitely jumped at him. As an unloved, younger, weaker omega, I really would not expect the MC to not try to clumsily defend himself by pretending that he didn't actually care at all. As the more mature and Alpha figure that tends to traditionally have more authority, I think the ML loosening a bit first would have been the smart thing to do.

But alas our ML is a cold and arrogant Alpha. His friend even notes later that it's only after two more years of precipitation and pining that the ML finally becomes slightly willing to bow his head. Instead, they follow through with their 5 year contract that basically just ends up with them becoming s*x friends since they're both obsessed with each other. With the author adding in drama to cut off the one time the MC steeled his heart to express his feelings a bit, everything starts going downhill from there. Add on that the MC has a terrible relationship with his family and the lack of communication and the sense of isolation all around makes it difficult for anything to improve.

This was definitely a painful read, with lots of tissues sacrificed. I'm very glad that the two of them eventually made up (even though it was only in the last like 5 chapters) because I was really rooting for both of them. It's so ridiculous that the two of them love each other so much and they still hurt each other all the time. Would not read again. <<less

no hate to the other reviewer, this was just my pov.

i don't usually post my reviews but the other review was highly misleading personally (i agree w few points tho) and I wanted to give a candid outlook to this novel.

let's talk about our main character, qin bao.

he is easily the most misunderstandable character. There are some of his actions which need more critical thinking to understand how he isn't at fault and his actions are neither white or black. He is but a growing teenager forced to accept the... more>> reality that everybody wanted him to be in a certain way.
Spoiler

and during the time when his father was jailed, he was torn between feeling gratitude towards ML and feeling his actual romantic emotions.

[collapse]
personally his character development towards the end was kinda good and it makes u feel "ahh my teenage child has finally matured"

let's talk about our ml, feng chengyu.

he is a bit proud and has communication issues. He thinks that everything can be solved if he waits and lets MC himself come to him and confess his feelings. He thought that he was pursuing his omega and hence he never took the initiative to explain his feelings. He did realise towards the end how it is useless to act like that. And even he matured kinda alongside MC. Their age gap was VERY evident because of this journey, their communication issues were perfectly inclined with what their age gap needs it to be. They both grew together.

so no, I will not let this novel be known as "dog blood" when it isn't. It's raw human emotions, they were struggling through candid 3D problems. It was perfectly elaborated and solved by the end. They both loved each other so much that they forgot that they can hurt each other as well.

if it's not your thing to read a novel with a lot of push and pull and long character/relationship developments I advise you to quit. However I do wish you know that both of them are growing together. Plus they are so adorable together that sometimes u forget they arent even in an 'official' relationship lmao.

im actually rating this higher than it needs because I want to pull the rating up but I actually give it a 4.5 stars. <<less

Spent the majority of this giggling over the two main characters as they talked circles around each other and made out every time they were in the same room alone. It's honestly pretty lighthearted for the most part, with a few moments of drama but nothing that dog blooded. The fake dating honestly made me laugh with how it all started, and the tsundere MC was so cute with how he would blush so easily over every move of ML. If I had to choose, I definitely liked this novel... more>> more than Asteroid!

MC falls first, which given the context of their 9 year age gap and them meeting when MC is 15... was definitely for the best. I liked how aware of his own feelings he was throughout the novel, despite his best attempts to hide them from ML. Think of a character blushing down their entire neck as they yell "but it's not like I like you" and that's basically the MC every time he sees ML for most of the novel. He's self aware but at the same time he isn't able to admit his feelings for fear of rejection.

I will admit that it felt at times like the misunderstanding trope was going on a bit too long with MC not getting that ML was in it for the long haul, but his thought processes always made sense given his background and I was never that frustrated at the lack of proper communication. Looking back, ML was honestly pretty straightforward about his feelings, and it was mostly just MC who didn't trust in the words he was saying and would misinterpret ML's every action as calculated than just done out of love. ML isn't as cold as he seems and he's very willing to concede to MC, taking his time to slowly break down MC's walls.

Even though it takes a while for them to be emotionally in sync, they were definitely physically on the same wavelength for most of the story. Though the novel is mostly fade to black, the chemistry between them was off the charts, and they basically constantly had their hands (and mouths) on each other. It's also refreshingly often the MC who makes the first move when they're together, as ML is much more restrained and wants to facilitate an emotional connection rather than just the physical. Unfortunately he is but a man and they end up going at it every time they're alone together lol

Their pheromone compatibility is high, but it's not anything crazy like the usual 100% of ABO novels. I also liked the added detail of the permanent marking being painful for both parties, not just the omega. It's the little things like that which I notice and appreciate after reading so much ABO. Like the prequel, this world doesn't put too much emphasis on gender differences and omegas are respected just as much as alphas, so there's no gender hierarchy to navigate for the MC.

The age gap of 9 years really didn't feel as weird as I expected, even though the ML basically ate up the MC on his literal 18th birthday. (Really toeing the line of legality over here lol...) I think it helps that MC started working as a professional model at 15, so he had some more maturity by having to work and interact with other working adults. But yeah I'm not going to try to justify the age gap, just saying I didn't mind it while reading.

A note that the 78th chapter translation seems to have been cut off at the top so I went and MTL'd it. It's a crucial moment between the two main characters that got skipped over, so just be aware, though it's easy enough to find raws to translate! The paragraph that summarizes their relationship best in this chapter goes something like this:
Spoiler

It turns out that there really is someone who will love him unconditionally, wait for him, and consider his feelings first no matter what.

He doesn't need to exchange anything, doesn't need to work for it, if only he be willing to take a small step, this person will run to him without hesitation and give him everything.

[collapse]

I loved the final extra with the 100 questions- half of them being about their s*x life is very on brand for the two of them lol

Also I feel like this is going to be a contentious point, but I'm going to stand on my little soap box for a moment here and defend the ML's decision to not just lay down all his feelings from the start: (mild spoilers)

Spoiler

It's important to remember that ML was 9 years older than MC when they met and MC had just turned 18 when they first slept together. Of course he could have confessed his love, but there's such a power dynamic at play just by the age gap that it honestly was much better to have him slowly build their relationship without that pressure.

You also can't forget how harshly MC behaved at the start with his rejection- it's not like ML knew him well enough at the time to understand he was just being a tsundere! Mind reading is not a part of this plot.

ML's intentions are very clear from the start by his asking for weekly meetings that he wants them to slowly get to know each other and to give the young and scared MC the space to gradually feel more comfortable around him. He is by no means arrogant or cold towards the MC, and while he does have his pride, he's always quietly supportive and doting, constantly checking in on and communicating with the MC to build a sense of actual connection that isn't just founded on puppy love.

He has so much patience for MC, and doesn't pressure MC, continuing to gently reach out despite MC's constant hurtful words. The more I think about him, the more I really love how he supported and cared for MC. Sure, he wasn't always perfect in his approach, and he has his moments of frustration and jealousy, but that just makes him human! He's got layers to his personality and that just makes him so much more interesting and compelling as a character.

Yeah I just love the ML what can I say. This novel was definitely way better than I expected to make me think this much about a character.

To some extent, I could understand Mc's feelings; ML had indeed kept things from him, and he had every right to be upset regarding his situation. However, I also felt that the pain he caused ML was easily brushed off just because MC felt sorry and didn't truly mean his harsh words.

The rating is personal; it is not deep.

You may or may not like the novel; the abovementioned is simply the observation that stuck with me.

it’s a cute minor angst story. no wife-chasing. more like the denial of feelings even when it’s evident they are there. I like that the supporting characters also have fleshed out characteristics. lots of rich people problems. the setting is like a space futuristic fictional universe which has been decently developed by the author but I felt that it needed more nuance in the structure of the worlds involved. it’s not my favourite omegaverse novel but it take it 🤷

the translation is okay in terms of grammatical coherence but there’s... more>> this annoying issue with the lack of proofreading/editing. some random pronoun changes so it makes difficult to discern the gender of the person, constant change of nouns that can easily affect comprehending the narrative

Spoiler

eg. the mineral in the story is first rydium (?) and then dysprosium (?) and then scandium. the name of feng chengyue’s company changes from ‘magic eye’ to ‘mo yan’. additionally mo xian’s name was also changed to mo yan at a point. the translator interchanges grandpa and grandfather for the two qin and rong patriarchs so it can be hard to understand if it’s old qin or old rong without context. marco malory randomly changed to aralory out of nowhere. the bran of the watch was mentioned to be phillipe patak but somehow it’s now baofenni??? so many issues like this... it creates incongruence in the story ugh.
