Real Missy Relies on Food to Counterattack

Description

She is an ancient profound iron ladle from the cultivation realm. Since she has become a spirit, her only obsession is cultivating a fragrant and soft female body.

A sky thunder smashed her into a wealthy family novel, and she became a true missy who had been wronged in life.

The real missy is the opposite of the fake. She loves vanity and lacks IQ. She is married to the half-paralyzed young uncle of the hero. She focuses on destroying the relationship between the heroine and the hero and ends up miserably.

Faced with the plot of a dog’s blood novel, she has only one thought: Great. She can finally be a cute and charming girl.

Later, she shook ten pounds of iron wok in one hand and kicked a big pe*vert to cry and whimpers.

Everyone: Do you have any misunderstandings about the words “cute and charming”?

Tang Qiaoqiao has good cooking skills. She cooks on one show and also on the next show. While filming, she also works part-time as a chef in the crew. She has become popular.

Her black fans turned to love her and only wished to eat her food. Her co-actor would rather freeload her meal. A director strongly invited her to act because she cured his stomach disease…

A certain president who wants to monopolize her: Enough. She only cooks for me!
*
Shen Yue was paralyzed after a car accident. His temperament changed drastically, and his life seemed to fall into the boundless darkness.

At this time, she was the only light in his life. Not only she healed his legs, captured his stomach, but also occupied his heart.

What, if his legs are cured, they will get divorced?

Don’t even think about it!

an enjoyable read! I true feel good novel with little drama.

i love that the FL is very supportive of women! The novel showcases the downsides of women in the entertainment industry but also gave us the fantasy of having people with cruel intentions get what they are due.

the netizens are actually enjoyable to read through and just add into the novel humor.

the FL is such a joy to read! The author really knows how to make me laugh. The ML is also funny and it was so satisfying reading their... more>> journey to love.

Note I clicked five stars by accident. This is really more 3.5-4 stars.

What happens when a ladle absorbs spiritual energy in a cultivation world long enough to develop consciousness and the desire to become a delicate girl only to realize that dream by transmigrating into a side character of a dog blood romance entertainment novel.

Fighting for family fortune? ... more>>
Spoiler

Nope, she'll kick them to the curb or tame them through their stomachs.

Fighting fiercely against all female rivals to become the number once actress?
Spoiler

Not so much. She is ridiculously OP and talented but there are better actresses who are her friends... and food whores.

And so it goes.
Spoiler

Any problem in this character's life is eventually improved through food.

She's zany, hilarious and her story will make you laugh out loud. Its sweet if not particularly deep. Definitely a good choice when you want to smile reading something low key.

Also kudos to the translator for supplying so many videos regarding the recipes. Do not read this hungry. <<less

A fluffy and super funny novel!

Summary: ... more>>
Spoiler

MC is an ancient profound iron ladle from the cultivation realm. So she knows how to utilize qi when she transmigrated into the modern era. With her personality and abilities, more specifically cooking, she conquers the hearts of many people and of course the ML.

[collapse]

Evaluation:

Plot: It's a cliche story but not boring. Even if you are tired of reading cliche novels you will still love reading this one. It's funny and cute! You won't be irritated to the point of baldness. The pacing and chapters are just right. You don't need to mind plot holes since it's a comedy one. (Though there are people who wanted novels without plot holes.)

Characters: I like the characters a lot. Especially the MC! I may be a little biased since she is the MC but there is a reason that I like her. But of course, I also like the other characters.

Spoiler
  • MC: MC is too dedicated to her goals. She is also straightforward and funny not like Tang Rou that green tea bit*h who likes to scheme! She also likes to be a dominant. What a reverse romance with ML.
  • ML: He looks cold at first but it has a reason. He thought that his legs won't be cured anymore. But MC is here! With her around anything is possible! Then after being with MC, he slowly develop feelings for her and become funny. He is so green.
  • MC & ML's Daughter: She's so cute! Also a little bit hilarious.
  • Background scum/b*tches: I won't criticize them just because they are s*um and b*tch. I actually want to say a 'Good job!' for doing your job well.
[collapse]

Overall: The novel is a gem for me. It's not the first time I read this kind of novel but I can say it's a wonderful novel. The comedy genre gives its justice! There are comedy novels genre out there that is not funny but this novel does. It's good for people who don't want to be stressed out. <<less

When you're Fasting and Still reading this... TORTURE!!!

Anyway... Wonderful novel! Has many funny and great moment. May not be perfect, and the tropes are not rare, but the story flow is Sweet and Simple and Great!

It break the Domineering CEO trope because how Strong MC is, and ML is also more Tsundere in personality.

Also first time I read Female Protagonist where she could almost make every female characters swooned by her Charm. Like seriously! I know it mostly her cooking, but the way the author doesn't have problem writing ML... more>> fearing a other Female character as his potention Love Rival and thinking "What If MC actually like girl more". This is rare! But there's NO Actual Love Rival in this novel!

Also the family drama on MC's family side was exist only for brief moment. No actual 'Family Conflict' that could bother MC and ML exist. Very nice!

And the Ending are Precious!!! I'm truly Loving it!!! <<less

5 star for the MC!

MC is really strong, not really smart but she got the right attitude. Woman can be strong, no need to depend on other’s affection. Go and make your own life, spread the love, be kind to people, ignore the one who doesn’t like you, held your head up high, work hard, and enjoy the result.

I laugh so much when our tang qiaoqiao desperately want to keep her dream to be a cute little princess, yet the media always caught her to be strong and comedic. This... more>> is a gourmet novel mixed with entertainment circle.

Yes the love between MC and ML is not really the fluffy strong love, but you’ll see how our ML fell bit by bit with MC’s kindness (and all her silly remarks). They really made to be a couple. Supporting each other, trust each other, and our ML always be there guarding her in his own way.

Oh I can’t describe how much I love qiaoqiao, especially when not many heroine in BG novel who could princess carry her man several times, LOL. <<less

This novel is full of funny and enjoyable moments. I really had a fun time reading it. The FL is great character, her main points are her cooking skills, sense of justice and her oddball personality (but don't tell her that haha). ML is a huge tsundere and other than that, he's a typcal CEO male lead.

But while I enjoyed it, I agree with the other reviews that the plot was severely lacking. It had a great start with her unique origin and ML's background but sadly, the author didn't... more>> quite elaborate on that. To be specific:

Spoiler

FL's family: Idk if it's because I read too many novels with the same trope but I was expecting more trouble with FL's family, especially with her "sister" Tang Rou. But after the early confrontation, nothing happened. I was confused during the mid chapters since I was waiting for maybe a reaction from her family about her antics or maybe some scheme or just anything really. It was only mentioned that the entire family went abroad. Like that's it. For a wealthy, established company in China to move abroad is just odd for me so this part was really not satisfying.

Shen Company: Again, this part left me hanging. It's so peaceful haha the fact that everything was resolved after ML had a talk with his older brother is so anticlimactic. It's not bad, I just thought that it really was not developed as much.

[collapse]

Other than undeveloped plot points, the novel is okay. It's perfect for those looking for a light read as there's not much drama. But be warned, so much foodp*rn. When I was reading this, I even ordered chinese food a couple of times haha <<less

All fun and relaxing face-slapping. Entertainment circle + cooking with a side of cultivation = Real Missy Relies on Food to Counterattack.

"The power of food is infinite. It can pass through the tip of the tongue through the throat and reach the stomach. As it goes all the way, it can awaken the truest emotion in the heart, and it is also the best medicine to heal the pain of the soul."

This was the first contemporary Chinese novel I've read and not gonna lie, I was hesitant because I do... more>> love my historical settings. But it has a much lighter tone than contemporary Cdramas and is all fun and food. I recommend it for a light romcom read!

TRANSLATION

Thank you SelenaLove for the translation! Like their previous translated novels that I've read (which are all food-based, lol), this novel is edited MTL and pretty readable. I also love the extra videos and pictures of the food featured in different chapters. There might be grammar missteps here and there and some wrong names/pronouns, but overall it's a smooth read. I also like how this translator clears up any confusion in their comments, which is really helpful.

THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM

Straight up just gonna note a contentious detail of this book (and Chinese writing in general) of stereotyping. (Yet another reason why I'm hesitant on contemporary novels.) Some off-hand dialogue comes off as xenophobic/racist in a way that Chinese media is wont to be ("foreign countries" that don't have authentic food, stereotyping Africa as "savage", etc), so I would be aware of that before going in. It's not a focal plot point or anything, just small bits of dialogue that kind of takes away from the story.

LET'S JOIN THE LADLE CLAN!

Best part of this story for me was the heroine. Qiaoqiao started off as a ladle for chefs cooking for daoists in some xianxia-like world, and she was eventually able to obtain spiritual power to manifest a soul, thus transmigrating to the current webnovel. The original host was cannon fodder, but Qiaoqiao's rational and blunt thinking quickly takes her to the forefront of popularity. The original host was mad about being married to a disabled man (even though homeboy is a literal CEO... lol), but Qiaoqiao's like, "I'll cure him and eventually divorce him!" Who knew that a ladle spirit could develop feelings later on...

Anyway, Qiaoqiao is hilarious. She's upfront and straightforward in the way a naive spirit would be. She cares about her reputation of being "cute, " but she's so strong she gets the name of "King Kong Barbie" (or something similar). Her cooking, of course, beats out any face-slapping that tries to happen and wins her lots of allies and fans. I love how she just wants to be happy cooking her meals, eating, and making other people like her through entertainment roles. Speaking of entertainment roles, Qiaoqiao quickly rises to stardom because of acting, reality TV, modeling, and singing at one point. Despite that, she treats her fans really well and even thinks about the cameramen/other cast members as well, which makes her delightful to read about.

Although the author lost some points with me with the whole stereotyping issue mentioned above, I was surprised at how "pro-women" the storyline could be. Qiaoqiao calls out a s*xual harasser, doesn't tolerate mistreatment towards women, and even gets a role in a movie that highlights the ab*se that married women in China go through. I really liked this subtle discourse that was inserted throughout the story; it not only made for comedic moments, but brought to light injustices that affect women. We love women supporting women!!

THE MOST TSUNDERE MALE LEAD

The ML Shen Yue is adorably tsundere. He reluctantly waters the FL's plants, exclusively eats her food, and watches her cheap web drama (for support) while putting up a grumpy and scolding front. Their romance was pretty drawn-out throughout the story and while they are close as a married couple, they don't really confront their feelings until a bit over halfway in. When they do, however, it's a mutual understanding and lotss of great dog food (/couples moments). My favorite scenes are when the FL princess-carries the ML, which gets him blushing. It's also super sweet to see him returning the favor when his legs heal!

Shen Yue is a textbook tsundere CEO. He helps the FL however he can with her acting career, but in general she's super independent so it doesn't matter to her either way. Even so, he likes to help out behind the scenes, whether it's shutting down gossip columns about her or becoming a producer for a movie she believes in. He's honestly super sweet and, although romance isn't at the forefront of the story, it's a welcome addition.

(If I had to categorize it, it would be 40% food, 25% romance, 35% showbiz/other relationships.)

ABOUT THE PLOT ITSELF...

Well, this novel is quite slice-of-life outside of the entertainment business drama. The oriML loses every fight with our FL, lol, and begrudgingly enjoys her food too. The oriFL is even less in the picture and mentioned in a handful of chapters. The FL's straightforwardness extends to her original family, who she separates from. It's all good though, because the ML's mom loves her (lol) and she starts a new family with the ML. So the plot is really the FL working hard in her profession and the ML supporting and doting on her.

The netizen comments are interesting and make the FL's face-slaps twice as satisfying.

OVERALL

This story is comparable to the translator's other work,

Ancient Foodie Survival Guide. While this one is contemporary and the one I mentioned is historical, they both deal with chef heroines who get the supporting cast (and MLs) to fall in love with them through their delicious food and honest personalities. Honestly everyone in

Real Missy is quite likable (except the original novel's cast who don't get a lot of page time anyway), which makes it a quick, fun, and delicious read!

TL;DR Read this if you're into:

  • A strong and courageous heroine who's not afraid to speak her mind and advocate for other women
  • Light face-slapping that's not too dramatic but at the same time satisfying
  • Not a lot of plot about the original story's ML/FL - this one is pretty dedicated to our beloved foodie couple
  • A superrr tsundere ML who quickly becomes infatuated with the FL despite having ill pre-conceived notions of her
  • Fun side characters that fall in love with the FL and her food
  • A happily ever after!

What a great feminist story. She relies on him and he relies on her. There’s never a hint of preferring males which is usually the case in these stories. Sweet couple. I do wish for more opportunities for the male to show his character but even that subverted trope is well done. The author obviously has strong feelings on the subject of male and female dynamics. Well done.

A huge thank you and shout out to the translator for picking this novel up.

This novel was an absolute gem. I highly recommend this for people who want to read a warm fluffy novel with bits of romance and comedy spread through out. There is no drama, evil villainess (except for the first 5 ch). It is a husband chasing his wife comedy if I had to describe it.

so if you are tired of bloody and dark revenge novels with the ML and FL playing hide and seek with their... more>> relationship, then this novel is for you. <<less

I love this story so much. MC was hilarious and ML was adorable. They were really a perfect match. MC's background story followed most of transmigration novel's general recipe; she was swapped in birth but after she came back to her real family, she was disliked by her parent who favored the adopted daughter more.

I like that the conflict between MC and her family didn't drag too much. She cleanly cut her ties with her family in the earlier chapter and they didn't show up anymore till the end of... more>> the story. It's still regrettable though because I expect a little bit more face slapping moment because although MC didn't care, the original MC deserved it. At least she deserved an apology and I also hoped that her family didn't have a good time after abandoning MC.

ML was portrayed as a domineering CEO but in front of MC, he was like a cute and shy maiden. I love how he always supported MC unconditionally, most of it happened behind her back and he didn't even bother taking credit of it. He always wanted to be a prince for MC but his role was always swapped by MC because of her unrivaled strength. It's so hilarious.

But as much as I like this story, I still couldn't ignore the major plot hole in this story that made me decided to reduce 1 ⭐ from the rating.

Spoiler

MC was clearly just an iron ladle in her last life. Although later she gained a consciousness and a little bit of knowledge, the scoop was limited in ancient era. So how could she adapt in modern era so quickly? She was a bit dense about romance between man and woman but she still had a relatively high EQ in other area. She also could use modern electronic tools swiftly as though she always knew how to use it all her life. It was so contradictory with her background as an iron ladle from ancient time.

Kind of cute, kind of weird, but fully a somewhat relaxing read.

The story is all about a ladle from a cultivation realm. Male cooks had surrounded this ladle for almost all its existence so it wanted to be a soft and feminine girl. A lightning strike sent its consciousness into such a person (apparently in a novel it read somehow) and it became Tang Qiaoqiao, the misplaced daughter of the Tang family who was married to Shen Yue as a good-luck-bride with the intention of healing his legs.

Spoiler

Despite being in a new world, her spirit energy still remains in this new human form. She quickly discovers that she can gather new energy from having people like her. This works because she is an actress and having fans does the same thing. She also enjoys acting and the attention even if she has the reputation of a "King Kong Barbie".

[collapse]

Shen Yue, her tsundere hubby, starts off disliking her because he had interacted with the original Qiaoqiao but he quickly falls for the new Qiaoqiao. Especially after she cooks him delicious food and begins to help him deal with his injured legs. He doesn't push his feelings onto her, and repeatedly gives her time to think about whether they will move on from the strange non-relationship they have in the beginning.

Spoiler

They don't hop into bed together until the very end of the novel and the moment is kind of a role reversal. They both kind of suggest it (hilariously, she calls it "Dual Cultivation" because that's how she understands it from her previous world) before she climbs on top of him and basically says she wants to be dominant. Of course, the morning after describes it as the typical "guy taking over" but it was rather nice to have that very in character reaction from the MC.

[collapse]

There is no 2nd ML in this story as Tang Qiaoqiao has zero romantic urges. She does make some friends but it's slow going and we really only see her with like 3 other people outside of Shen Yue. There really isn't any face slapping either. Even the antagonists are just mentioned in passing.

Spoiler

Tang Rong (the replacement daughter) tried to make trouble, it fell through quickly. The Tang family chastised Qiaoqiao once. The nephew only does one mean thing at the first and then just whines for the rest of the story. The ori-FL and ori-ML break up, the ori-FL moves away and the Tang family go with her and that's it for them.

[collapse]

This story doesn't really have any problems for the protagonist to face off against. It's just her happy story and Shen Yue is along for the ride. <<less

Kind of a basic premise. Little to no tension/drama. Smooth sailing. It's a drama story that has funny moments. Most times I have chuckled in a story like this.

Translation- 9/10 - I have noticed one or two mistakes, but they don't distract from the reading at all. The fact that I don't remember what the mistakes were means they were very little. Near perfect.

Writing - I like Chinese novels more than Korean or Japanese ones because generally, they're usually more detail-oriented. The worldbuilding and the visual descriptions... more>> are just more laid out. Even though this novel is more detailed than Japanese one, it is still less detailed than what I would like. It's not something that is objectively bad, just something I noticed. Characters

I haven't finished the series yet, so I don't know much about character development. At this point however, I like all of them. Hopefully it stays that way.

ML is fun to read/watch. He's written as a super perfect, super serious guy who's just gotten into an accident, but he has plenty of humbling moments that make him more human. I like the MC and ML relationship right now. It's basic stuff. MC treats ML right. ML treats her fine, but is also protective of her. ML slowly cherishes her. They have good chemistry together.

The Antagonists are very basic in my opinion. There is no "subtlety" or "complex character motivations" to how they treat MC. It feels like they just genuinely do not like her for no good reason. Small nitpick (Around ch15) :

Spoiler

ML (male lead) has his legs broken in an accident 6 months ago at the start of the story. And because of this, he loses his position in the family company, the family social hierarchy, and becomes a recluse. Keep in mind, it's just his legs. No other physical disablities, no mental losses (He even runs his own personal company, outside of the family business.), and he just gets pushed to the side as "worthless"??? Crazy.
