This is a rebirth / age regression story done right in EVERY single way. I can't find a sin with this one, only wish it was longer.

It is one of the most realistic rebirth story I have come across. Every action of ML and FL is reasonable. Their relationship is also believable. And it shows how a single act of kindness can affect the trajectory of a person's life.

Wins

  • ML was the one getting rebirth, which is rare, and he acted his age (~40yo before reborn). Of course, a middle-age man would find teenagers, even though they're his classmates, immature. Of course, he would feel that as a grown-up he had to protect children. So it is within the bound of reasons that he stepped in to help the FL. Not because she is the FL, not because he fancied her, but just because it's what an adult should do.
  • ML's action is super realistic. It is what anyone would have done when they're reborn with some knowledge of the future, so it's unsurprising that he fared even better and succeed quicker than his first life.
  • Slow romance - I like that at first, ML treated FL as a child under his care, but gradually they became fond of each other.
  • Body positivity - FL was described as overweight and full of bruises due to the extreme poverty, bullying and domestic violence she encountered, yet ML treated her like an actual human being. NOT pitying her or babying her, just like another respectable person.
  • Life lesson - Kindness affects others. The kindness ML showed towards FL created a big impact that changed not only FL's life, but ML as well. Had he not stepped in, she would have become a bitter person who died young. He would become a lone wolf who find no meaning in life. But once they found each other, they could both find happiness.
  • FL is the definition of "You are not what happened to you, but what you made of it." - She was dealt a terrible hand in life but her perseverance led to her success, both in her first life and the new life. I cried for her and I cheered for her. Her character is so grounded in reality that I feel I have known someone like her in real life.
  • I must say ML and FL have the best moral code of all the novels. Especially FL is my hero. She is never embarrassed about her poverty or where she came from. A lot of novels like to paint someone coming from rural areas as country bumpkin or uncivilized, and I always ask "What's wrong with that?" It's the others who discriminated against them that should be ashamed.
Sins

  • TOO SHORT! The story could definitely stretch to 100+ chapters and I wouldn't complain LOL And because it's too short, some plot point was left hanging such as the FL's family situation or ML's parents. Other plot points such as running a showbiz company and their romance could also be expanded.
  • Trigger Warning should be added. Although the most of the story is happy-go-lucky and heart-warming, there are depictions of domestic violence, school bullying, and s*xual assaults (though not described into graphic details)

It was not specified but I believe the reason ML was reborn was because he failed to meet and help FL in their first life - leading to both of them having bitter and lonely short lives even though they are both amazing meritorious people.

Heaven was probably like, "Not on my watch!" and BOOM! Send the ML back to the beginning. LOL

MTL-ed

This is a very short story; there's only 24 chapters. Not much happened to be honest, but it was cute and fluffy. Everything did go smoothly for the FL after meeting the ML, but her efforts and personality was also a contributing factor. Since the ML had the knowledge from his previous life, it goes without saying that he fared better in this life.

It's short. It's sweet. It's to the point. And it's a reincarnation story from the POV of an ML who wasn't a jerk in either life.

Do you know how rare that is?

There's basically no drama in this; it's a very light read but still entertaining. I enjoyed the chapters with the FL in them more than the ML's solo chapters, but there weren't many of the latter anyway.

The ending did the job it was supposed to, and was satisfying enough, but I would have loved some extra details about their... more>> life together (though I think of the author had added that it would have taken away from the ending actually).

A short reincarnation story told from the ML's perspective with good characters. <<less

It's a bit sad that it was so short. Honestly looking back, the ML before coming back feels like a working machine. It's in part due to the lack of informations I think.

4.2/5 for the story, it's great for a short novel, but since it's very rare to see a romance (only) with only 1 female interest with male lead, I wanted for this to get recognized.

The story is very sweet. The female lead is strange, or more like has strange thoughts on 'repaying' someone.

This could have used one more editing pass before being published. The translations I read were pretty good, including enough TL notes to explain the Chinese idioms and references. I appreciate the translators' hard work!

  • The FL's mother was never handled completely. I think it's hinted at, but could have been tied up neatly.
  • The variety show came out of nowhere, was poorly handled, then dropped. I feel like she shouldn't have agreed to go on a show that twists the truth and purposely fries CP.
  • The plot of her "top horror film" was very over the top. The translation I read had a proper content warning, so I'll give it a pass, but I feel like they should have toned it down or done something different. Such a dark and disturbing premise was jarring in a light and fluffy novel like this.

, I feel like that was really well done. I was expecting them to drag it out and that would have made me frustrated.

I also felt like the high school part was paced pretty well. It did what it needed to do, then they moved on.

The weibo posts were fine in my opinion. There was a lot, but it wasn't as much as some other reviews made it seem. I'd even say it was less than many other Entertainment Circle tagged novels.

My biggest complaint was that the ending came suddenly. It was very much a "and they lived happily ever after" kind of thing, rather than showing them getting along and growing old together. It's not bad thing per se, just not what I wanted. <<less

This one is a short and sweet novel about a 40 year old something man being reborn in his 17-18 year old self, then he met the 17 year old "Venus Flytrap" movie queen, but the girl he met was a timid one.

Really enjoyed this short novel.

It’s sweet and the female lead is very cute in this novel. She is determined and even if she is at a loss, she wouldn’t back down and stick to what she think is right. The male lead is mature and helped the female lead unconsciously or according to how he really feels.

The con of this novel is that it’s short and some parts are pretty brief. Well, I enjoyed it as a short read and it is a great before sleep novel for me based... more>> on the length.

I started reading with a bad feeling. Really bad mood.

no high expectations, just getting started, and

i am speechless

short warm story 🥲🥺

even with translation, I believe in the quality of the author 🥺🥺

this is really a touching story. They like telling stories, and I really feel good after listening to them.

MC and FL are truly complementary characters 🥺❤

they grow, and mature together.

full of very sweet fluff.

Too short😭😭😭

Despite the tragic backstory and past life of FL, it's fairly light and fluffy. With our OP and mature MC doting on FL, it's really a satisfying read!

I love this kind of novels! Anyone know something similar to this? Anything with this dynamic, preferably male MC or TOP MC for yuri. Please no yaoi, I'm sick of those.

It was short, sweet, cute, and fluffy.

The reason I rated 4 and not 5 was because it was a little too short, not much else than sweetness and some minor faceslapping and the cute and fluff; with a story this short, they were also very superficial.

Good for when you need a quick dose of "pick me up / feel good"

wonderfully written! And I love that it didn't overstayed it's welcome. Their love story just progressed organicly and mase sure we, as readers didn't get bored.

fluffy! Fluffy!

the male lead is truly amazing! Reminds me of the villain's mother's ml. Since both of them actually worked hard for their money and weren't born from luxury.

would definitely read this again!

Sweet and short, not too long, not too short. It's a great read if you want something easy on the brain. Dopamine levels were well maintained during my reading 😌

Something that I want to add though, it's not that deep, is that I wanted an extra chapter. Like just a short snippet of their ever after. I guess I have my imagination for that bit

At first, I thought this would be some Mary Sue, overbearing and hateful ML, but when I started reading it, it was very fluffy. I didn't expect that the story would be written in the ML's pov which was very rare in novels. Moreover, the ML was very mature and acting his age. There were no unnecessary dramas and misunderstandings. It was very short but full of fluff. A great binge read, a breath of fresh air.

Very cute! Going in I thought both the MC and FL would be reincarnated, but it was only the MC.

I really liked the way the MC's relationship with the FL developed, he started out simply trying to do her a favour because he remembered her from his past life, and ended up falling in love with her through that as opposed to having already been in love with her in his past life and coming back to look for her specifically (which I don't mind when done properly but in... more>> this case I think it fits much better with the MC's character).

I like that both the MC and FL were capable individuals who made each other better, and even though it was brief, their relationship was super sweet and the development felt right, even though the novel was a bit limited by being so short. <<less

*It is a smooth sailing story, not for someone who are looking for story to ab*se herself/himself.

it’s a short read but not much memorable expect for the movie plots in the novels. Boy, are they intense!! This novel could be longer with more plot lines and I don’t like how there isn’t as many supporting characters except for the class flower at the start of the story.

Would have been a new fave if it was shorter. But this is such a cute and heartwarming story. Neither the MC or the ML fall in love immediately. The reason for the rebirth is mysterious but ultimately it should be to allow the MC to live a brand new fulfilling life. Loved how sweet and doting the ML was, and how sweet and strong the MC was. Such a cute couple. Wish there was more.

What a way to spend an hour and a half of my Saturday night. I remember reading this one when it first came out. And being disappointed when it was dropped. And then picked back up. And then dropped again. So glad it finally is finished. This one was short and sweet. It could’ve been fleshed out a little more but that’s only because I would like it to have lasted longer. But longer would not necessarily have made it any better. It was very good just the way it... more>> was. During the first year of Covid I discovered C Drama. During the second year I discovered Chinese novels. So many novels too little time. I would like to express a big thank you to all of those translators out there for keeping me entertained. This enjoyable and light read for a short novel.

The ML (Xu Lang) was rebirthed and helped FL (Xia Teng) alot from suffering in this life compare to their past life. I actually like the FL's attitude and hardwork despite of her life background, also, I wanted to read more of her previous life and how she became successful actress with no help.

The premise is really good, however, I just felt that con is the flow of narration was sometimes too slow (especially romance side) and sometimes too rush which didn't... more>> dig further to the character especially ML who was the Mary Sue in this novel. <<less
