Has a significant number of abandoned plots, some plot holes, and the ending is woefully rushed BUT it's such a page turner. The FL is strong and has her own established belief system that makes her grounded in her decisions. All the characters developed are fun and you want to root for them. The author also attempts to explain the FL's plot armory which I found impressive. The romance is characteristic of North Night's books since the ML just up and falls in love with the MC and so does... more>> the MC? No explanations given or even rationale for why - but since the romance is really inconsequential to rest of the story, it' s not a major flaw. <<less

First 900 chapters (translated chapters, since I don't read the original & not sure if translator chopped 1 original chapter into parts or not) were great!

Love how our FL struggled to get stronger and not getting everything handed on a silver plate, and even if it does, it was done with subtlety.

Then she finished Avicinaraka and whoosh, the OPness begun!

It wasn't bad--i even think it's about time--but there were some overlapping facts: what used to be thousand years become millions or hundreds years, like: a digit is not worth a... more>> number, but just a tool to underline something's amazingness of the ancient treasure or that sort.

Then there were filler arcs around chapter 1000s: okay okay it is no filler arcs, since the writer successfully integrated that to the story, but gotta admit that the writing's become long winded (the Ye vs Long family arc). Maybe that's author's way to refresh themself from writer's block--they can get sick of FL too.

All in all, my satisfaction level was pretty high, but by the time I write this review, it has become quite stagnated. A lot of chapters I just skim & skip, it usually is the start of a declining interest. I hope I can finish it though, since I'm halfway through & the romance is just a teeny tiny sparks and gotta admit, love the ML, & am curious about how they'd meet again.

Edited: rewriting after finishing! I took back my comment that doubted how the book had hit a boring period: it did yeah, the Ye vs Long arc was still the worst arc, and I'm glad that I skimmed the bad part and stuck to the good part, because during chapters ~1000, the pace & plot picked up, and gave us a well woven ending. It reminded me of another story where the FL ended up as the highest Supreme God, but this novel is better: our Ye Qingtang has emotions other than cold stares, pliable to situations, can be defeated, the knight in shining armor is so subtle and not only one person, the characters around YQT also varied & not monotonous. The ending is also not heavy on 'how insanely talented & adorable FL's kids are' but more of a closure about her friends: it's so good for me because I am so tired of how C novels put 'talented kids' on a pedestal. <<less

I have no idea what sort of braind anerysm I had that I read this novel for this long.

Its sh*t plain and simple, the writer just wanted to write different genres with different protagonists so the protagonist just uses disguises to be different people. None of it flows well and makes sense, our MC has no agency in her story. And we go from realm to realm and forget about all the other characters from the story, the MC finds her parents and oh my god it turns out they... more>> are not her parents time and time again, and dont mention her "cheat" somehow her living 300 years into the future makes her a genius in everything and in 300 years all cultivation changes and knowledge from the future but if we have characters that have lived for tens of thousands of years and somehow in 300 they develop so much thats juts bullshit. <<less

This one is a solid read for a good portion of the story, but I find it hard to recommend because it was hard to finish the last hundred chapters and wrap. Rebirth of the Strongest Female Emperor has a number of pros: far less reliance on a male lead character than similar stories in the genre; a series of interesting mysteries that were set up right at the beginning--who caused her to be reborn? What's up with the Heart of the Demon God?; and the plotline is driven by... more>> her desire to cultivate in order to protect herself (and protect or rescue those she loves) rather than chasing a male romance. I enjoyed the elements of the story that actually had little to nothing to do with the main character but drove storyline. There are still the usual tropes of the genre with lots of face slapping, familial mysteries, an overpowered sidekick, and a dearth of other positive female characters. I devoured the first 1500 chapters or so, and really enjoyed it even up through the early 2000s.

The story does have intriguing arcs and questlines that make it a good read and differentiate it from some of the others in the genre, but there are three key issues that knock my rating down: first, I really struggled to get behind the romantic relationship. I felt like there wasn't enough genuine interaction between the two to carry the latter part of the story, although I did enjoy elements of their characters individually. Second, the main character describes genuine relationships with those she interacts with for about the first third of the book and her efforts to protect them often drive the plot, but most of the actual relationships felt flat to me. And although one can easily blame plot, it felt very uncharacteristic of the main character to fail to worry or go back and find or check on the people she supposedly cared about. As a result, many of the relationships felt a little false. And finally, there were issues with pacing particularly towards the end that made the wrap-up feel extremely rushed with loose threads and bad writing. By the end I was reading mostly to complete the story rather than because I was still enjoying it. I generally enjoyed all four of the translated stories that North Night has written, but on the overall I didn't enjoy this as much as her other works despite liking certain storylines a great deal. <<less

I’d say that this novel focuses more on adventuring and power up. The romance here was pretty dry for me. It could be different for other people. The beginning of the novel, from chapters 100-1500, I’d say was pretty interesting, but then, later on, it was just filled with repetitive plots, tons of luck, and some of the ‘future’ planned adventures that the author set on earlier in the novel, was never completed. The main character isn’t that interesting to me. I felt that as the novel progresses, the MC... more>> got quieter and quieter and quieter. Kinda miss her old personality back in the beginning of the novel where she wasn’t so quiet.

Also, it follows the same type of irrelevant cannon fodders as Genius Doctor Black Belly Miss. By that, I meant they’re the cannon fodders that are there just to allow MC to show off her awesome skills. Those cannon fodders taunt her, then boom MC does something awesome that mind blows them... yeah... it’s those type of cannon fodders.

for the ML, I felt that he only occupied about 10%-20% of the novel (I may be wrong). The rest of it is the MC’s own personal adventure to solving her past mysteries.

Overall, I just like the plot and the adventure from the beginning chapters of 100-1500. The rest later on was an ok read. It’s not the best, nor was it the worse. <<less

i find this book interesting even thought it only has 21 chapters. The story line, although sad, I want to see how she makes a come back and how she manages to protect her father and second uncle. Keep up the good work?.

I enjoyed the beginning of the story very much, and I also liked the middle a lot. There's definitely a focus on plot/leveling and barely any romance, which I like personally. ML is the hyper-intelligent scheming devoted type (love). I have to say though that cultivation is often glossed over, eg there are certain techniques that just never show up again and the system itself seems pretty vague. There's also some things that just never come up again. The pacing is pretty normal for a webnovel for most of it... more>> (ie super bloated), but in the last 50-100 chapters the author decides to just tie up all the loose ends at once and skim over them. I was at chapter ~2680 and wondering how the novel would manage to finish in the next hundred chapters because it felt like there were another 30 things to deal with, but it really felt like the author just went "ok, I'm done" and finished the story.

There were a lot of good things about it (low bar but I was really happy there were basically no r*pe scenes, maybe a few one off mentions/paragraphs, but def nothing involving major characters).

Overall I did enjoy the story and would recommend it if you have nothing to do for a week, like leveling/face slaps/minimal romance and don't mind a sort of unsatisfying ending. <<less

The writer of this novel is the kind that I like. It's the kind that has plan for how to story will unfold over time.

My main problem about this novel is the cultivation aspect, which is almost non-existent and doesn't make sense at times. For example, when the MC who are at low cultivation level pretend to be a powerful clan master, strangely no one can see through her real cultivation level. But later in the story when the MC want to enter an academy, suddenly everyone can see through... more>> her cultivation and were driven away.

The MC previous life can reach the level Holy Venerate after 300 years cultivation, but in this incarnation she can reach higher than that in less than 5 years. Why? Why cultivation is like this in novel with female protagonist? If anyone know a proper cultivation novel with female protagonist, please PM me >.<

Although the cultivation aspect is disappointing, the story is good, it kept me wanting to see what happen next. The protagonist is very likeable and many interesting supporting and side characters, . Even though the ending a bit rushed I still love the story and the ending. <<less

I don't want to hurt the author's feelings but I feel like falling asleep every time I try to read it. It's so slow pace for no good reason. I read up to 200 & she still finding treasures everywhere with her FL rebirth halo with no brain power. Everything's suspiciously too smooth sailing since she got reborn. It's basically "because she knew this from previous life, she will do this" over and over and over again.

Also MC's personality is flat. Nothing smart, exciting, romantic or funny. She's just basically... more>> doing the same thing as what I said above. I get it, it's to make herself stronger so she doesn't get killed. But the same setting with no development in character/rs/plot till 200 is an opposite of green flag for me. Ok so what if it's too slow or the MC is boring, maybe MC will have longer interactions with ML based on the author's writing style. But ahaha no. Up to 200, the amount of times they met is less then 5 times and the amount of lines they had to each other was also less then 5 times!

Maybe if this was my first novel, I would have more patience. But after reading novels like Rebirth of malicious military empress (it doesn't need to be as good as this, I'm just using this as an example since it's widely known), I sure know this is not for me. There are people who rate this 5/5. Maybe it is your cup of tea. <<less

It's the same repetitive story over and over again. First, she gets looked down on, face slaps them, that person brings someone stronger who underestimates her, gets face slapped, then brings another stronger person that gets face slapped. It's basically a copy and paste of this scenario just with different characters every few chapters, along with some godly destiny that powers her up so she can face slap other stronger opponents in the next chapters.

She goes back to her home town and this part that could be summed up in just 5-10 chapters goes on for 50. If she just opened her mouth and didn't treat her words like divine treasures (I'm telling you she only spoke 10 words max during these 50 chapters) and just sat back and watched the Duan family create drama with her family, the conflict could have been solved more quickly and did not need to be created into such a big fuss. Her intention was to protect and help her family, yet just wasted time waiting for the Duan and Long families to purposely provoke her just so she could kill and destroy them as a show of power. She could have easily done this at the start instead of waiting acting as if her words were too precious to be used. She already had more than enough motive. In addition, the author made it seem it was urgent to get to the Xuanling sect because they didn't have much time left, yet when she gets to her hometown, it's as if she has all the time in the world to waste.

This really made me tired at this point and I cannot continue this story anymore. The plot is loose, with plot holes, forgotten characters, forgotten motives, contradictions, and no sense of time.

You are much better off readying Lady Cultivator, an underrated cultivation novel with a strong and independent female lead, structured plot, and well-defined characters who aren't there purely for face slapping. Although the romance is slow, it's definitely faster than this non-existent one here.

I'd also recommend Cultivating to Become a Great Celestial, the Female MC goes through hardships that help her get stronger over time instead of stumbling upon some godly destiny or having it just handed to her. <<less

Pretty good cultivation novel. Not too much romance. At this point in the story, ML has been AWOL since a while ago. MC only "meets" him twice but he was secretly followed by her around besides that.

Story is more about MC getting power ups, making friends, and saving said friends.

Unlike other novels I've read on this site, the translation quality is consistent. It's so frustrating to buy 200 chapters bc you like the story and want to finish only to realize the translation drops in quality after ch60. Thankfully... more>> that doesn't seem to be the case so far with this one. <<less

Dropped it because it was going nowhere.

It was alright at first, but quickly got dull and repetitive with how the author dragged it out by giving the MC so many obstacles to overcome to become a lot more overpowered than the already very OP characters.

I wouldn't really recommend it if you're a person who'd want to see everything out like I did, because there are barely any developments other than the MC meeting new characters and getting into different situations but with the same format.

I just felt that 3/4 in and the author decided to rush the ending of the novel I literally started panicking at 2500 chapters when I realised its nowhere near ending and nothing seems to tie up and more crap has popped up...

I wouldn't have mind reading an extra 1000 chapters for a less rushed grand finale.

Romance? Don't even mention it.. I think North has a weird way for writing romance I read a bit of her other novel Genius Doctor but didn't get half way through and the interaction between the leads in this novel was probably less than 10 chapters of Genius Doctor...

Even I, a sad lonely potatoe couldn't understand how the MC and ML gain affection for each other...

To be honest this book could do without the less than 5 pages of primary school flirting.

Just take out the ML altogether and just make him a brother support type.

I think I read a comment somewhere about the MC going off track several times and this is true. Let's forget about the cannon fodders who for some odd reason hates her (this might be due to her original identity... From what I could understand people like her is supposed to have bad luck cos of a dimension or something?) But like she goes from fighting one place to another... Then tries to accomplish something like restoring a dead continent only to be dragged into more trouble before even getting started. This happens throughout the story... No loose ends are tied until the every end and it's so hurried and messy.

Overall it's a good read, I recommend it... It has good concept and although it gets confusing especially with the 100000000 clans that seems to be the top one after another and the weird romance annnnddd the 90% of the people she meets hating her guts annnnddd how although she has bad luck because of the heart somehow always escapes death situations its a cool read.

I mean although the romance is worse than 2 sun-dried sardines kissing at least resurrection seems to be a normal thing in the world.. Wait that reminds me... I dropped this because it was not my kind of story and causes me more headaches than enjoyment.

I am the type of person who reads novels like Ghost Emperor Wild Wife: Dandy Eldest Miss, Mesmerizing Ghost Doctor, Enchantress Amongst Alchemists: Ghost King’s Wife, and Evil Emperor’s Wild Consort - which, by-the-way, are all my favourite BG novels - and so I was expecting something similar.

This novel did not live up to my expectation. Compared to the novels I mentioned before, it is a bit lacklustre. Not only is each chapter... more>> super short, but there also wasn’t a lot of satisfying face-slap or adventuring.

Furthermore, I felt that many of the side characters are sidelined and not further developed. They received few appearances and then suddenly forgotten later on.

I am not saying that this is a bad novel. It is just not something I would really read. The MC is decently developed and focused on things she only knows. However, I wished for her to use more of her knowledge than what was portrayed in the novel.

She focused a lot on her development and cultivation instead doing stuff like going to different cities/countries, developing medicine, building armies, getting revenge, etc. Like other MCs.

For someone who lived for 300 years, knows multiples of advance techniques and medicine, there are little references to said knowledge.

Sure, she did some future-telling to get ahead of others and know some pills, but that’s it. No reference to how she made those pills, they are just there ready to use and MC apparently created them off screen. It’s these little details that makes this story a bit boring to me.

When I started to read this novel, I saw nth new in it. I felt bored and thought to stop reading but when I read to this point, the story gets interesting and the plot starts to unfold so I think you too won't be disappointed.

Some people judge this novel before they barely read an arc. This is xuanhuan genre so you won't see much things after reading just like a hundred chapters?!

I agree that this one only gets interesting after much chapters but chapters are not long so don't mind it.

Here about characters in the novel.

MC = She is decisive, no nonsense and really action-oriented MC (because of that you won't see much undying c*ckroaches villains, so you won't see annoying characters for too long cuz they all die , don't worry MC isn't blood-thirsty and don't kill innocent people; that's why I like Ye Bei's novels, this is the most kindest MC (although she is reborn and has revenge plans, she doesn't dwell on the past, doesn't bear too much hatred and she just moves on. She only focuses on what she should do. She has distinct line for what she should do) I think among Ye Bei's novels but other MCs have their own reasons to do so. She has 300 yrs old experience so she is good at fooling people

    (pretending and acting when she herself doesn't want to do it but there's no choice do or die!!!) You can relate her inner misery

    everytime you see her act. she is not too scheming

    like little Xie in GDBBM because her power lies in not her mind but her perseverance. She never gives up even when she loses everything. Some ppl said she doesn't care enough for her ppl and leave them but time is tight for her, she has to stop calamities happening but she doesn't have enough power so she has to power up constantly. She leaves when she solves their problems cuz other ppl that she must protect need her, she doesn't have enough hands, time and strength for it so she she must grow. Anyway you will like her the more you read. She is really a no nonsense MC cuz she can't bear when cannon fodders talk too much.

    I like that part of her a lot. It saves my energy from feeling angry on not important characters.

  3. Villains=This is the first novel I've read that has the villain who doesn't fall hard over male lead for the first time she saw him just bcuz of his looks. You will get real power hungry villains who are consistent with their characters. Also the first villain I have seen who has advantages (cheats) over MC every time. Most novels have MCs who have most hidden cheats in them but this one ? well, the only cheat that the MC has is only the plot itself. Things go wrong sometimes and not everything becomes according to plan. So that's what made it more interesting.
first quarter of the novel does have usual trope so you may think it's nth to look forward to but you'll see that when you keep reading arcs get interesting more and more and world-building is really the best in ye Bei's novels. Complex and mysteries keep unfold.

There are also some world-hopping here. One review said foreign names are used in the translation

it's not wrong, just MC traveling to a foreign world.

This novel has different flavors. Sometimes you will feel too heavy for your heart, feel warm for interaction between MC and adorable kids (diff kinds_old, young, powerful, evil, naughty...) and will see hilarious situations for MC lolll. You'll feel speechless with MC.

Pls write review if you only read enough.

I understand that Completed reviews have their own opinions about it, ppl have different tastes in reading fiction, but some ppl don't even read enough to judge. <<less

I am giving it 4 stars because it starts with a good plot. It picks up slowly and then it drops in the middle but at-last all the pieces of puzzles are come together to give a nice ending. It stands out from the crowd that it has a strong FL and it has good villains. Some story arcs appear repetitive that is were story drops. Moreover, it may not be the best novel but it is still a good novel to read.

I recommend this novel! The FL is strong enough and not that frail. She's independent. Until now, I keep devouring each chapter but I don't know if I will get tired of it. I'm not really sure where the FL is heading in the story, there are so many informations and characters... I keep forgetting all them lol

Although it's a typical rebirth story but it's so intresting actually I think it's one of the best wuxia rebirth stories i've ever read, the more you read the more you get hooked up the FL is smart and knows when to retreat unlike other fls who only ruthlessly kills because they suffered in their past life, i've read till 700 and smthing and still there's not even a hint of romance the ML only appeared 3 times as his real self and staying beside her as a wolf for... more>> particular reasons of course she thinls it's only a spiritual wolf and even as a wolf he rarely shiws up in front of her he still got no feelings for her yet which is actually much better.

So to sum it up if you like rebirth stories then you'll absolutely like this. <<less

its an okay story, while I don't find the story to be anything much its a good time filler for the better stories out there. Now that is to say this story isn't awful just boring and it doesn't get better the farther you go. While I say all this negative stuff I will admit that I admire the female lead as she is one of the few that admits shes in a grey area and that what she and others do aren't just black and white, right and wrong.... more>> Which I find very refreshing but at the same time not enough to carry the whole story which the author seems to want. Another thing that make me go Meh and some will probably disagree with but I don't see the point of, is the ML he plays a role but hes also kind of not likeable and has very little role in the story other then a high playing power and conspercy. Now this might be because we see him very little and I feel like at most he tolerates the FL because he needs her but nothing more or less than that. The couple has zip chemistry with each other and I feel like they should just get rid of the whole romance aspect of it all together even though theres very little teasing of it to begin with. Another thing is there really no stand out side characters that if you didn't like the FL or ML that would make the story better, they are all pretty bland with a few moments of humor.

PROs

Female lead has a very refreshing character.

Stroyline is steady.

Annoying characters actually get killed or get retribution pretty quick instead of sticking around like reborn c*ckroaches.

Translation is done well.

CONs

ML is very bland.

Side characters need more personality.

Romance needs lots of work.

story needs a bit more work on connecting things and filling plot holes. <<less

The story is actually pretty good. I mean a novel from North Night always meets its expectation.

The MC was already quite OP in her prevous life (like all MC in the author’s works) but here she didn’t transmigrate from another era but returned at a turnpoint of her life as per mentioned when « her spirit root was dug out ». So in this life she is dedicated to seize all her missed opportunities in order to level up. On the romance part it’s really almost non existent at least... more>> in the earliest part of the novel don’t know if it will develop later but yea you just appreciate reading the MC journey to becoming stronger so when reading the reader won’t really focus on the romance issue. Personally I didn’t mind...

Overall it’s a good novel on cultivation (at least for the 600 first chapters) just don’t expect much on the romance when beginning to read.

Also from my SUBJECTIVE perspective if you have to rank the author’s work then :

1 - Genius Doctor Black Belly Miss (of course first)

2 - The Strongest Female Emperor (as I’ve said I really liked the MC journey to cultivation with her past life memories)

3- The Indomitable Master of Elixirs aka Unprecedented Pill Refiner : Ninth Entitled Young Lady aka Peerless Alchemist manga (To be honest I’ve only read the manga and started to read the novel lately but even so I enjoyed this one more than the one ranked 4th)

4 - The Good-for-nothing Seventh Young Lady (I’VE TRIED SO MUCH TO READ it but I just couldn’t despite it’s 4.5 rating I’ve found the novel especially boring maybe it was the political aspect or the plot in itself which didn’t suit me well don’t know but I just couldn’t bring myself to appreciate the reading despite having read 1000+ chapters)

ANYWAY no matter if you’ve read author’s novels or not you should definitely try this one. Also a big shout out to the translators for having picked these novels and prevented us from suffering of MTL. <<less
