Jin Yaotiao, a successful woman in her career, opened her eyes and found herself back in the prime of her youth—before she had won the Gold Award for Cooking, back when she was just a silly girl, blindly chasing after the aloof, handsome CEO, making soup for him and hoping for some response.

Standing in front of the man she had chased for many years, a man so handsome it was almost tragic, Jin Yaotiao’s delicate face was filled with disappointment.

The CEO looked at her and said, “I’m very busy. What do you want to say to me?”

Jin Yaotiao gazed at the pot and said, “Give it back. The soup made by the Gold Award chef is for selling, not for soaking men.”

CEO: “???”

Warning! This is a feel-good story where the female protagonist transforms from a naïve, sweet girl to a stunning, independent woman who focuses on her career and never grovels to the male lead, the male supporting characters, or anyone else.

Only a dozen or so chapters in, but I kinda feel bad for the fiancé. The guy is definitely autistic. At first I thought he would be a bad guy, but he’s just... so very very autistic. My autistic ass relates so hard.

MC is not wrong either. Just two clueless people who aren’t even having miscommunication. They’re just not communicating. At all.

She kept trying to make herself into what she thought he’d want. He simply accepted everything about her and supported her preferences. (Like not inviting her to business functions... more>> as his date because drinking is expected and she didn’t drink. Because she thought it didn’t give virtuous wifey to drink.)

he didn’t understand why she’d be upset he took his secretary as his date until he saw her in the tabloids with another man. Then he axed both stories 😂

I’m a little scared to read. This guy doesn’t deserve a crematorium. He deserves a cookie. I just imagine the poor guy coming home in his last life and never seeing his wife again. Divorce papers, then nothing. Never a conversation for the rest of their lives. It’s kinda heartbreaking.

MC obviously had a heartbreaking experience pre rebirth, too, but she was obsessed with the guy for over a decade. He seems to know everything about her but she doesn’t know the guy has no common sense? She never asked questions or confronted him or showed dissatisfaction?

I don’t want to victim blame, especially because the trad role stuff was obviously her upbringing, but she chose to roleplay the good little trad wife on her own without ever talking to this dude, then just bailed without a conversation when she was tired playing a role he never asked or expected her to play? The mental gymnastics are exhausting.

After years as a career woman, she’s back in time and still doesn’t think a conversation is necessary? She’s grown up, seen the world, knows she made silly choices, but doesn’t question her perception at that time?

I’m nervous to read on because the relationship problems seem... entirely manufactured? Or imagined? If a single conversation could fix everything, it doesn’t seem like a problem worth dragging out over the entire novel, but I feel like that’s where this might go.

id rather they talk and just deal with the annoying cousin and she goes back to being a culinary badass as part of a power couple.

someone else needs to read and comment with spoilers so my heart can settle down and I can feel safe to keep reading 😭 <<less

This was a well written novel.

Both the MC and ML were rational, brilliant, and likeable.

I'm thankful that there were no overly dramatic villains and that the story just flow naturally. After the MC's rebirth, she prioritized improving the health of her parents. She also changed herself for the better.

Wow 5 stars. This novel is about a boss bit*h who went back in time when she was still a lovesick girl. She decisively breaks up with her cold fiancé and takes over her father’s cooking empire, elevating it to new heights that he never thought were within reach. She is insanely talented in cooking, with high empathy, so this story was chock full of heartwarming moments. Truly and enjoyable and enrapturing read. As the novel goes, we find out that the ML isn’t such a cold guy, just clueless... more>> and unable to express himself. However, the FL is too burnt by him, and even at the end of the novel they still aren’t back together, though the ending indicates a positive outcome in the future. This novel focuses more on the fl’s cooking and business ventures, the epitome of a strong woman. Romance is in the background, with the ML trying to get her back in his own clueless way. Normally I read mainly romance, but this novel was so empowering that I barely felt the missing presence of romance. <<less

This is more on MC's journey on finding her true self and worth. How she trying to fix things with her parents and families, focusing on ensuring her father's business going on and strengthening it forwards by first, stop focusing on her love pursuit and broke her engagement with ML (I really can't say ex fiance as ML but that what author put his role as). Along her journey, she directly/indirectly influenced people whom she encountered, which in returned helping her in many ways in her business.

MC and ML do... more>> have communication issues, mainly stem from both side:

1) MC's traditional upbringing setting where man should be breadwinner and women stays and manage home. This is where MC in past life doesn't care much about her father company issues since she spent her time to cater ML's preferences. This in this second life, she turned 180 degrees. Totally new person with new determination.

2) ML's growing up
Spoiler

watching his parents acting loving couple in public but fighting in private, ML father extramarital affair (not explicitly mentioned but we could guess from how ML's mother behaviour and reaction) and how he grown up neglected by his parents.

[collapse]
Thus this upbringing indirectly makes him separate work and private too much that he didn't see his attitude towards MC makes him similar to his father's in sort of ways. Such indifference to the point MC status as fiancé was taken as a joke to people around them.

It's open ending do makes me feel unsatisfied, but I do want author to give closure towards our main couple relationships. Translation wise, there some hiccups here and there e.g. When employees calling her His High ess/Prince instead Her Highness/Princess ; Shenzhen sometimes become Deep City; Rachel or Lei Qiu and so on. Still, it's a decent read, worth rereading especially MC interaction with her chefs/ father's discipline brothers and their apprentices and cooking recipes. <<less
