Jiang Ci went into the mountains to pick chestnuts, but deep in the mountains, she became separated from her group and was pushed down a slope by someone.

Gu Qingchuan carried her on his back for six hours without stopping to rest, rushing her to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Those people slandered Gu Qingchuan, accusing him of taking advantage of her while she was unconscious. Before she could wake up to testify and clear his name, she was reported for speculative trading and sentenced to several years in prison.

When Jiang Ci was released from prison, not a single so-called family member came to see her, only Gu Qingchuan was there to pick her up.

Later, that man became the richest person in Qin Province and gave her the happiest ten years of her life.

When she was critically ill, the man’s heart shattered. He asked her if she had any regrets in this lifetime.

She struggled to breathe and said, “That year when I fell down the slope, you carried me to the hospital. If only I had woken up earlier, you wouldn’t have had to go to prison for nothing.”

After saying this, Jiang Ci closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, she had returned to fifteen years earlier.

An hour later, the man would be convicted of the crime of harassment.

Jiang Ci pulled out her IV, saying, “Gu Qingchuan, wait for me.”

In this life, she had woken up early, and she would seek revenge where it was due and repay the kindness where it was owed.

A rather short but nice read about a woman's rebirth. The ending dies quickly tie up a lot of plot lines but still leaves the desire for more.

The MC is Jiang Ci, the "protagonist" of the world. She's reborn just before the ML was about to be sent to prison based on a lie. She immediately begins working towards her happy life with him, and a happy future for the important people in her life.

The ML is Gu Qingchuan, the only man the MC has ever loved in either life.... more>> The feelings are completely mutual but he tries his hardest to chase her away as his family was given the landlord label and he doesn't want to drag her down.

The story follows as the MC quickly improves her life while karma strikes those who have wronged her. The villians in this are kind of s*upid as their actions weren't really hard to trace back to them.

Spoiler

One villain was unbelievably greedy and constantly tried to get the money left behind by the MLs family. Nevermind that she helped get two of the male members executed and basically starved the grandmother in the previous life.

The ending is also rather sudden without much detail to cover how the characters end up. It's pretty much just the one character suffering and then a happily ever after.

Fun to read once but not much re-readability. <<less

This is a solid 4 🌟 (for a Chinese novel) read.

The story is set in the late 1970's in a city/town in China and the strict communist regime had softened somewhat. Although the people aren't rich, they aren't starving like some other stories set a few decades earlier.

The novel revolves around the family, general life and people in the area the MC's live in. Although the FL is clearly the main character, she isn't the main focus of everything.

There is always something going on and the story progresses fast. I... more>> liked this since I never got bored. It also means that it jumped from one situation to the next which made it feel like a slice of life.

My only real complaint is that I got very confused about the characters relationship to each other. It has too many "strange" (to me, as a non-Chinese person) names that looked similar. There were many characters and it was difficult to keep track of. However, through their actions and the people around them I could figure it out.

In the end some things get resolved, some things don't. The end wraps up the main story, but we don't get the ending for every character that was introduced and this was fine with me.

Ps. Don't read this if you purely want romance, if you want a deep romance or if you want most of the story to revolve around romance. I read romance exclusively and I was happy, but just know what to expect. <<less

It's a solid time killer I guess, just that we don't really get much about any of the characters, even when they are shown as important to the plot it's just like a sentence or two and bam bye bye. It's fast paced, especially as it nears the end, somewhat like the author just sorta lost interest and hurriedly wrapped up. I feel the MC's ability is just brought up when convenient and never really explored, ... more>>

mostly feel that fixing every single health issue was unnecessary, and it would've been more meaningful without that quick fix, to show that chronically ill people are able to lead happy and fulfilling lives
