I don't recommend anyone to read this book, if you do it's a waste of time and you will end up feeling angry and disgusted by the whole situation.

Obviously, our FL (Xia Chuwei) is the classic and meek character, easy to bully because she will let herself be stepped on over and over again by everyone.

Although I'm annoyed from her behavior in every chapter, I don't entirely blame her.

Because of her foster family, she stopped being the willful girl she was in her childhood. I didn't find the MTL last... more>> 34 chapters, but I hope she will stop being a punching bag (the only person who attentively cared about her was her childhood friend and ML, from the moment she was born he protected her and never allowed anyone to bully her).

Now let's talk about the most disgusting characters in this story, you may don't agree with me and I will understand, but you can't be blind to all their faults.

After her father's sacrifice to protect two of his comrades and her mother's death due to heartbreak, one of these comrades (Mu family) adopt her, but instead of treating her as a daughter, they decided unilaterally to engage her to their oldest son.

I found this disgusting because they tied her to their family out of guilt, they "treated" her "well" because they felt guilty over her father's death since her died to protect Mu Junze, her "foster father". And this behavior of theirs, made her feel guilty, insicure and easily abandoned if she wasn't good. She never complained, never told how much hurt she was, only because she would feel guilty if her pain would "break" the family.

If you want to treat her well why would you adopt her and made engaged to your disgusting son?

In many chapters it's underlined how they wanted her to grow up in a safe place like their family, that they were worried outsiders would treat her badly, blah blah blah... And funnily they treated her the worst.

Not once they realized she was actually bullied by anyone for being an orphan, and her ex fiancé not only never defended her, but his silence allowed all these people to bully her and to say horrible things. They discovered how badly she was treated by everyone, how she had ro give up her dreams and her hobbies because their eldest son didn't allow her to have a life outside of him, from their younger son who revealed all these things a little too late.

Let's not talk how keep the engagement to go on, even though she wanted to break it... and once again they "involuntary" made her feel guilty and was "obligated" to give another chance... It was her own decision, because she didn't want to be abandoned by Mu Beichen and lose her home and family.

How could you do that to your beloved daughter when you know how much she suffered because of your disgusting son?

Let's talk about Mu Beichen, one of the most disgusting male character ever... He never treated her well, he allowed people to bully her, and even said to his friends "she is an orphan, who else can she marry?". She was wanted ro break their engagement, he suddenly didn't want to because he "loved" her and she was his in his twisted mind.

Well he didn't love her, he loved being chased and treated as the best man to exist in the world, because he knew perfectly she would always come back to him with just a single word from him.

He treated her as his little toy, and when he started to feel he was losing control over her, he started acting crazy.

And I'm totally annoyed how she acted towards him, how she didn't have even a life outside to him, how many times she cried silently because of him and despite that she continued to be his s*ave.

She was still willing to marry him because she liked him and worried for him, despite how badly he treated her, how he humiliated her in public, never claimed she was his wife fiancé and referring to her aa his sister.

He ever tried to r*pe her some day before her wedding to ML - Gu Shisheng, mind you, they already had the marriage certificate... And she only married him because Mu Beichen stood her up for the second time at the Marriage registration office. Let me explain this part better.

On her birthday she was supposed to get her marriage certificate with Mu Beichen, obviously he stood her up because he was too busy to have fun with his friends and his ambiguous female friend, he allowed them to belittle Xia Chuwei and comparing her to the other woman saying how FL was much worse that the other one and how she used her father's death to force him marry to marry her.

FL obviously heard everything and run away from there, crying desperately, ML saw her and took care of her; buying her favorite threats, taking her to a park to let relax. He asked her what she wanted to do, she said she wanted to break the engagement. Seizing the opportunity, he immediately proposed to her that she could marry him and blah blah blah, she accepted hia proposal but gave herself half a month to reflect on this, giving once again a chance to her fiancé... And indeed after some events and having give once again a chance to her ex fiancé to put her first and truly caring about her, she broke her promise to the ML. In all of this mess, she was disappointed and disgusted by Mu Beichen... I blame her foster parents and that disgusting man for making her feel like this... She literally done everything out of guilty, and worst thing she isn't aware of this, or probably she is aware but decided to close her eyes out of fear. Poor girl, she was literally obligated to love him and care for him no matter what..."

There is no romance between Xia Chuwei and Mu Beichen, her liking him seems a sort of obligation. Reading the story if it wasn't for her declaring she liked him, you would never know... Every time she defended and protect him because she didn't want to ruin the relationship between him and his parents. Girl how can you feel so guilty about his mistakes?

But we can easily see how much she relied on Gu Shisheng, how he believed her no matter what, how he protected her from everyone who tried to bully her, how he made her happy and how he made her heart beat... Everyone noticed how happy she was and her smile, a smile they hadn't seen in a long time.

Of course you couldn't see it, you ruined her just to tie her to you out of your own guilt... If you "cared" about her her, only then you could have eased your guilt.

Of course there is some affection between the FL and the Mu family, but how much of that is genuine?

Hopefully she found another home and someone who will cherish her forever. <<less
