5/5 rating! The ending is beautiful. The translation is good. The storyline is great and unique. The settings and character developments are smooth, stay in line and logically explained in the story (some may question their morality but you also have to keep in mind that this also a love story between two so-called "villains" in the ancient civilization where 'everything is fair in war and love' apply)

If have to summarize the story so far in a few words.. It's about a relationship between cool and aloof but possessive... more>> top girl with a very capable and kinda tsundere but also obsessed bottom guy (yes, both of them are straight but yes, I mean literally when I said top/bottom.. Iykyk).. With a mix of ancient china politics, war and martial arts.

This can give you an emotional rollercoaster that can make you scream like a banshee in one scene and cry a river in the next. Definitely one of the novels I would remember in the future. <<less

Hmmm, this is like my 4/5th palace cn but I still don't have any interest! Maybe I just am not going to like this genre sigh. I genuinely do not care about the palace intrigue at all. I also do not care about any of the royalty or the bad guys. I can't even hate them because they did something bad to the CP because there wasn't any one thing that made me dislike them. Also, I just don't know any of the plans that are happening to... more>> give me any suspense. We just get a scene that I don't know the meaning of, and the next day the court is in a huhaa but I don't know any of the specifics or meaning of it all. Also, I couldn't connect to the main CP at all. The MC was reborn but I only have vague ideas of what happened. Until now, I only knew two people were involved in her death. I don't know what happened. She doesn't seem to be doing anything or have any concrete plans to have a better life now. Just a vague idea will protect the ML. But protect from what exactly? It's like she's not using any future knowledge to her advantage for 40 chapters. Other than that, the ML isn't really likeable. He's so sharpened by his environment that he is kinda cruel and a little bit crazy. So it wasn't all that fun reading the romance. The MC too. You would think it might be interesting to see the role reversal but it actually isn't because it's just like reading a normal cp just the genders are reversed. And all the other characters just go with the flow. So there is nothing new or interesting about the dynamic.

Very much a story that reverses typical tropes between the male and female main characters. The female is the one that's dominant and shameless while the ML is the opposite. There are still troubling issues that's typical of ancient china, but otherwise an interesting story. Though there's a lot of manipulative strife, the two main characters stick loyally to each other through thick and thin. Very few misunderstandings between them, at least none that aren't resolved immediately since they're both quick to bow down to the other when the other... more>> is mad/hurt.

It felt vaguely danmei because of the role reversal, to be honest. (FL also dressed up as a male general for a while so that just increased it). Not bad. I very much like a FL that's incredibly strong, which is what a typical ML would be.

The translation is fairly nice, though sometimes clunky. "She is very boring.." instead of "bored", for example. However, I really appreciate the translator for bringing us this gem. <<less

Pros:

  • Interesting dynamics of main couple. It’s almost like f*mdom tbh.
  • The FL is the one who’s usually doung the saving. Like other reviews, she’s like the ML in a female body.
  • ML on the other hand is just alright. Haven’t seen any interesting power play on why he’s so infamous and all officials wants to kill him (other than they hate him because he’s a eunuch). I like that he’s different from other ML in term of vulnerability.
CONS:

  • FL too OP? Like I get there’s an explanation but it’s too far fetched especially she’s so young. 16 and she’s already s martial art expert? Saved 3 boy while she’s touring the martial arts world??
  • ML is too childish. One minute he likes her then next minute he doubts her. This one I actually get because he’s too paranoid and low self-esteem but it gets annoying after a while.
  • FL is too forceful in wanting ML to accept her. If the situation is reversed and ML was the one seducing his way to remove FL insecurities (or undies), people would be raising pitchforks. That’s when I stopped the novel because I realized if FL was a guy I’d be so annoyed at her.

Half way done.

I like the male lead. I like that he has power, but it comes with restrictions and red tape (how exciting!). I like his insecurities, which can lead to questionable action that I'm eh about. I saw a review that complain that the ML doesn't have any power without the emporer backing, and I find that funny because that is literally in the description/tag. He is a eunuch that has the emporer's favor, but he is still a eunuch, basically a high ranking servant. Idk, I just find... more>> that funny.

What I don't like is the female lead, or how she was written. She is very very often described as cold, but idk about that bc everytime she interact w others, most of it seems normal/flirty (w the women) or w a sense of smugness. Those don't seem cold and distant for me. Idk. The male lead, who has the same trait, portrays this coldness wayy better. I was fine with her until I got to the part where she justified r*pe of women civilians by her own soldiers bc they are the enemies... Gross. The author didn't need to jnclude this. Literally no need. There are millions of way to show the coldness of a character without spending 1/4 of a chapter justifying r*pe.

Also, what I don't enjoy is the lack of reciprocation in their s*xual relationship. Like, if u figure out a way to pleasure a eunuch, im sure you can figure out where the clit is lol <<less

It's not bad but it's simply not to my taste.

The pov shifts between a lot of different characters who all have their own ideas. It kind of makes the MC who rarely does anything beside coax the ML look boring. Nobody is scheming against her and the ML can solve his own problems. Surely she has some interests beside the ML?

I also found the ML to be rather immature at times, especially considering that he's supposed to be at least a decade older than the MC.

The villains are said to... more>> be smart and clever but they don't really come across as such? It's like they have no situational awareness which makes no sense.

Things are supposed to be high stake but it just doesn't feel like it.

First -- the OTP was amazing. 5 star OTP. I just rounded my review down to 3 because I found a lot of the army stuff super boring and had to skim.

Definitely going in my faves list tho!

I find the 'rebirth/reborn' element weak here. Maybe because her past life wasn't really eventful and the relationship she had was not that strong. But if it weren't then why is she so bent on repaying the kindness? It really confused me. The conjecture I have is that she originally just want to repay his kindness and prevent death through wholeheartedly devoting her affection and attention on him. However, she eventually fell for him and due to her all-or-nothing personality and one-man-woman personality, she will stop at nothing to protect... more>> him. It's just that for me, it was not properly conveyed or the details were vague so I can only assume.

Anyway, the novel was just okay. The romance is a bit weak. I feel like their relationship could've progressed better or their relationship could've been portrayed sweeter. I can say that their relationship is leaning more on supporting and giving him confidence.

For those who plans to read the novel let me tell you, Lin Qing is really a eunuch. There's no conspiracy like fake eunuch or some miracle medicine to cure it. He really is a eunuch. At first I thought of this and expected it to go like this but it's not so I just want to let ppl know to lessen their expectations. <<less

This story really suits my taste. Reborn but no face slapping, all she does in this second life is only to love the lonely eunuch.

None of them are kind or heroic. Both only knows how to protect and love each other. They also cruel. The description of war and punishment quite heavy, might not suitable for you who look for a fluffy story.

MC is strong woman, she is very very masculine. The eunuch is ruthless and psycho, but he always pressed on the bed by our MC. Love this couple... more>> so much. Where else you find a story where the female playing with her man freely, wantonly, shamelessly.

Is this BG story? Or yuri? Or BL? (Since the way they have s*x is mixed between two girls and yaoi story) No. This is story about two human regardless of gender and how they have s*x, the important thing is their heart connected with each other. No classification needed. <<less

This story was so good that I sincerely believe that the only reason others would rate it low was that they cannot accept the fact that ML and FL both do not conform to the usual stereotypes and cliches of romance novels.

Simply put, they are both combinations of the "strong, cold, overbearing CEO" and "willful, jealous, possessive, devoted lover" tropes.

"The male character is a eunuch who is so powerful that everyone at court feared him, but deep down he is a lonely person who lacked love and trust. He is insecure and feel that he isn’t worthy of the female lead. The female gradually won him over by showing her undying love for him. The female lead’s personality is kinda like Shen Miao from The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage. She is cold and indifferent, but when she falls in love, she would love that person with all her heart. She is a highly skilled martial artist who likes to use her strength to tease the male lead in bed. The roles seemed to be reversed in this book. The female lead is the one who does the teasing and the one who has the strength while the male lead is like a shy girl. So, the story is basically about the female lead coming back to repay the male lead for saving her in her past life."

In this story, FL is a strong character through and through, while MC is fierce and domineering in court, but a weak little lamb under FC's ministrations. It's similar to <The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military... more>> Lineage> in the sense that both MC and FL are able to tackle court politic problems, and FL's personality is strong and focused on her purpose for rebirth. However, the difference lies in that in this story, FL focuses on protecting ML from the start, while ML is powerful in court from the start but faces countless attacks from all directions and is honestly prepared to die young. ML's lack of confidence in his ability to live long (more due to circumstances rather than his lack of power) plus the fact that he's, well, a eunuch, makes him unconfident in regards to FL once FL start to make her pursuit clear. The constant confident attitude of FL while she chases him, while ML practically melting under her actions, makes the story kinda cute.

Overall, fun and interesting story of court politics, martial arts (FL), strong FL and weak ML. Good for a change of pace. <<less

Others may love this kind of FL & ML but I don't.

The FL is a bit of confident OP. The ML is a little bit possessive (exaggeratingly), distrustful & a bit insecured eunuch. He (ML) is considered strong because of his connections (also because he is favored excessively by the emperor) but also a weakling (in my opinion).

There are parts/scenes that are really exaggeratingly redandant.

Others may compare this with "the rebirth of the malicious empress of military lineage"? It would be an insult to both novels. The latter is one... more>> of the best rebirth novels out there. While 'Rebirth To Love Lord Q.' is a bit in need of polishings from here & there but it has it own charm (maybe). <<less

As others have said, it was good in the beginning and at the end. The middle with the war showed the questionable morality of the author. Like sure, we all know wars have rapng as well. But the MC letting her men do it, and being alright with the fact and be like "the women should have expected it and be grateful". Or the way how the characters reacted towards the ab*se of tbe Princess, her own family forgot soon enough about her. Have we read the same book?

Because to me it doesn't deserve such a high rating!

Pros :

... more>> - The writing is light and makes it easy to get into the story.

- Chapters are short

Cons

- I don't like how the MC has no other goal after being reborn, than saving the Ml.

- Why does she love him ?

It is said that she likes him and we see her doing things for this reason, but never am I convinced by this, because I don't feel that deep love of hers. In " Returning to Before Husband's Castration" for example, while protecting the Ml, the MC sometimes thinks about past life experiences with him and compares his actual self to his past self (before her rebirth). Moreover, she doesn't merely protect him but rather, seek to help him shine even brighter than he did in his past life (she assists instead of doing all the work for him). Here, she says she wants to protect him and then we see her do a bunch of things... but we never feel the emotions behind the actions; nor is it coherent because for someone with such a high reputation, her husband certainly is not weak, so she should assist him and not just cradle him; stopping him from reaching greater heights.

-Her backstory is so flimsy.

- Her servant girl is too unrestrained.

- MC has a bland personality.

She ' s said to be cold but then when she interacts with other characters, it's not like that. She ́s said to have people and the means to protect herself. But then she couldn't even save her dear husband in her previous life?

When her mother died, why did she stay in her father's house (where she was ignored) ?

It's like the MC has no desires. So it is hard to care about her as a person.

And honestly, I can't imagine how void her life would have been before falling in love with Qiansui.

In other stories MCs actually had lives before the plot started. But here, It's like she only started 'living' when it did; and I do not like that very much.

- The ML is in love ?

To me it wasn't so romantic because ml's "love" seem to me more like an obsession (he wants the cold and indifferent beauty to only look at him and love him) - at first. I do not know how the story will flow past where I stopped, but this relationship debut really disappointed me.

- There are useless chaptrers.

The conspiracy is so plain and low level that the all too many chapters spent on it seemed useless (one could predict almost everything).

And as a reviewer mentioned, when the MCs are apart, the book just becomes dryer. <<less

Their relationship is so intrinsically well complemented, you can truly see that they are meant for each other.

The translation does justice to the story imo, the intensity of their love, the deep manipulative behavior between the two, the side characters and the antagonists all were surprisingly very touching.

This one I enjoyed reading for a day and a half. Refreshing MC and ML. But I do agree that this is like f*mdom. There are certainly flaws but I like our two leads.

This is my second reading of this novel and I feel I should finally write a review. I like this novel because it surprised me. This novel offered me something delightful wrapped in some boring parchment paper. This is a martial art and military fic hidden in a court harem drama, or is it the other way around. There is a second timer badass general MC and fragile insecure adorable love interest. I dare you to guess who is who.

There are sometimes where I had to suspend my disbelief when... more>> the MC does something outrageous. The fic does try to explain away some of those moments or behaviors but they tend to be hand wavy or even more ridiculous. To be fair the MC and love interest feels natural, their motivations fit them, their abilities match their past experiences, and the way they act or react fit their characters. Their interaction is also adorable, how they explore and grow to care for each other. You will root for them even thought you know their romance is a forgone conclusion.

You will hate the antagonists not because they are keeping the main characters apart but because the antagonists are a real threat. The world around the MC and LI feels lived in and vast with micro-politics, wars, court dramas, and socio-economic problems that has lasting repercussions. Politics will affect the characters in realistic and believable ways. The main characters have relationships (rivalries, unrequited love, friendships) outside of each other.

I recommend this novel twice over and now you know why. <<less

I stopped reading novels for quite a while now because I didn't find any interesting novel that suited my taste but then I accidentally find this novel and I fell in love with it immediately, I love how the female lead is the dominant one in their relationship and how the male lead had lots of insecurities because of him being a eunuch and him not having male g**ital, but the female lead love him nonetheless, I love it when the male lead sits on the female lead lap it... more>> got me screaming like a lunatic aghhhh so cute. For u guys who love dominant female lead this is a must-read <<less
