This isn't as unique as most of his later novels, but it's still a very solid xianxia. A warning though: the exposition is absolutely terrible in the beginning! It improves A LOT as it goes on, and is definitely worth the early info dumps if you like the genre.

It does have some of the standard xianxia flaws, like s*upid sizing and weapons / techniques getting forgotten as new ones appear, but it manages to avoid the worst ones. It never really gets repetitive, and it actually feels properly planned without... more>> being stretched and bloated. The relationships feel like they fit with characters who spend hundreds of years in seclusion; people are friendly, but focused on themselves. Time even feels like it passes instead of just pausing whenever MC isn't around!

Basically, just read it (and suffer through the early exposition, it gets better). It's definitely one of the best xianxia I've read! <<less
