A major event happened recently to the demonic sect – their powerful sect master suddenly went missing.

Everyone comforted each other: “Don’t worry, the sect master must be out pursuing fun, and so on.”

“Well, that makes sense.”

They waited.

Waited and… Everyone slammed the table: “We’ve waited so long! The sect master must have met with a mishap! Look for him!!” Numerous disciples therefore ran rumbling down the mountain.

This story is quite entertaining. The demon sect elders and shadow guard are so adorable! Of course the main cp are quite endearing. The whole story is is 1st shrouded with mystery and alot hilarity happens along the way, but eventually it’s leads to a good closure for whole plot. But along the way its quite entertaining, but I have to say the pace is rather slow, if not for the MC and the funny elders I really cannot keep up. I wish the author can make and extra for... more>> the junior generation, but I guess it’s not the main point.

Thank you for the translator who really make alot of footnotes and side notes, really helpful to understand and reminder of the previous events. Tq <<less

Really enjoyed this! It was quite entertaining to read and there was humor sprinkled in throughout so it never felt dark& dense. Some of the quirky responses, situations had me giggling away. I liked how the author laid out the plot and schemes; The way the little things made more sense after you saw the whole picture. The scheme itself is rather convoluted, yes. (But I wouldn't say there's any moral dilemma as such.)

Some might think a more direct approach would be preferable but imo it was essential the group was exposed to the misdeeds little by little. Also, since they were active participants, they could see first hand that the scale and seriousness of the white piece's deeds were THAT horrendous. Afterall, the goal wasn't just ending the white piece, it was also ensuring their permanent fall from grace.

I think the Demonic faction won the prize for most interesting characters. Absolutely loved the MC's sly character (although he is admittedly pretty OP), his sect elders as well as good friend Xie (he's so annoying/hilarious/great lol). The ML was rather typical, in contrast. He was.. Alright. Steady, I suppose. The only drawbacks I can think of are

1) How bloody useless the other elders were. They were literally dependent on Xiao for any sort of decision. Its hard to believe tbh. 2) The ending of some of the side characters. I took a liking to the Young Masters Jiangyue, Xilai.. I'd have liked to see Xilais reaction and how he ended up. He was a good boy.

Amazing... I don't know why but at first few chapter the story actually didn't get me much engaged with it but later oh boy... It's interesting... Love it... And of course as the translator said before to understand the story better we atleast have to read and reread it twice... As I read the story twice and then many confusing things got cleared... Give it a try it's good and worth reading... Also who are saying translator is not doing good for those... No you are wrong... Translator did a... more>> great job... But as they're translating from a language to another it's inevitable that some words or sentences or meaning can't be conveyed perfectly and so it's doesn't make good sounding or looks odd... But after rereading everything I think that bits of confusion gets cleared as welll... So good luck... Also

While MC's background is heart wrecking and I cried alot imagining how painful everything was.... I love the demonic faction's elders... They are real cuties... Love them... ❤❤ <<less

I made a NU account just to review this. Thats how good it is.

I actually started this as a light reading novel after the heavy plot of Sha Po Lang but boy was I surprised.

This novel is insanely underrated and very beautiful. Its heavy plot is balanced out with humour. I especially loved all demonic sect elders lmao.

I love the MC Ye You for his intellect

It is highkey impressive how he set up the chess board and was several steps ahead of everyone at all times.

Our main couple is a badass power couple, and I rlly like how theres no stereotypical 'soft' bottom/ 'tough' top trope here. Theyre both extremely capable and smart individuals.

and speaking of, it is actually illegal to not fall in love with Wenren Heng.

If you like revenge based dramas like mdzs, youll LOVE this. Except, all characters here get a good ending. *Cries in jiang cheng stan*

Unlike mdzs, the mc's faults are also addressed and he acknowledges the hurt he caused and heals from it.

the author has put a lot of care into it and so has the translator. 11/10 recommend. <<less

i feel smart reading this lol maybe this is how it feels to be powerful..

although a bit twisted maybe, this novel is actually a feel-good story for me. This is a story with morally grey characters, pretty fast pace, lots and lots of scheming and will probably keeps you high on adrenaline.

This is a step by step revenge story that involved a rather big number of characters, and a whodunnit mistery for reader.

I also like the light tone of the story here, eventhough it used the Jianghu and cultivation as its setting.

I know I will re read it again, and maybe two or 3 more times. The story is enjoable to read.

This was really well translated, had an interesting mystery/revenge plot, which was sometimes confusing but was thoroughly explained to this dense one, and had hilarious side characters.

I’m usually one who enjoys a good chase between the main characters before there is mutual love, but it made sense for this story.

A pretty hard one full of schemes and mysteries. Not so much love or fluff. I enjoy more easy ones and this really made my brain hurt. I find it very well written, but if you want something easy and fluffy, than this is the wrong choice. But if you have the time to try to understand all the schemes than it’s a pretty nice reading.

Hilarious characters, interesting plot, no unnecessary drama and decent translation. I rarely rate but this novel us worth it to read.
