I had no intention of reading this since the cover looks very basic and reminds me of many of the other Z-Tier novels out there

But the review by VLADISLAKA is so convincing that I just have to give this a try

I'll edit this once I actually get to it though, I have to finish the novel I'm currently reading so possibly 2-3 days before I yap about the novel itself

Edit: Definitely worth the read, I can't wait for new chapters

Fairly high-quality harem romance novel.

I won't go too in depth... but will still write a lot as I usually do. Here there is one remarkable difference from basically any other harem novel geared towards men; the main character is basically hyper desirable in his world. He's seen as handsome smart, hard working with all around high specs-the setting is in an academy where most students are women, and he's the student council president admired by everyone and handsome to the extent that some random women just accost and flirt with... more>> him randomly upon seeing him. Even then, he's a generally pretty nice person, and doesn't exploit these benefits at all. There's no trope of people looking down on him, in fact pretty much everyone he meets has at least a positive opinion of him.

The romance dynamic in this story is also one-of-a-kind; it's the women this time that do the pursuing. Not the kind of novel where there's a large women:men ratio where the women just throw themselves at him for having a pen*s or being the cardboard japanese pushover/paragon of kindness, but of people who just find him attractive. Moreover, the MC actually has an ego and won't be praising the heavens because of his luck with women, and seems to just take it in stride (admittedly I hate the trope where the male protagonist is constantly putting himself down and showering the heroines with admiration/praise seeing them as much better than himself, and much prefer when he considers them equals).

Basic story is that the heroines are given certain supernatural powers like hypnosis/"domain-control?"/pleasure-control/invisibility and so-on (p*rn-story powers basically) and he's the most desirable guy around with connections to everyone around him (step-brother, fellow student council member, childhood friend... and fellow students/friends ig, such that everyone's attempts at using their powers kind of revolve around him. Their powers have severe limits not only in terms of effect but also duration, and improve along with the level of "desire" of the user along with how often these powers are used - and Yan Huan's (our MC) task is to minimize/prevent them from using these powers using his own set of "cheats" + some resistance to the others' powers, as they're essentially the manifestation of some other nefarious power encroaching upon their world. Due to reasons he can only do this himself and indirectly, so his overall plan seems to show them that using their powers can backfire and that they're capable of doing well in life without using them.

Overall, I can't sell this kind of protagonist enough; he doesn't put himself down, he's not shy, he's competent, smart and handsome without everyone around him worshipping him for anything he does - he's relatively kind/not manipulative but won't do anything just because a pretty woman asks him to - he's actually desired/generally liked and there aren't any people showing up randomly to insult/harm him/there's very little yandere/controlling behaviour for now, as the powers aren't particularly strong and the women are all fairly good people who don't really want to ab*se/control him for the most part, and times where they have wacky ideas like

are viewed with the disgust that they deserve and even punished within the story - so there hasn't yet been any instance of a woman being blatantly abusive towards him and being rewarded for it. Incredibly refreshing, I simply can't recommend this kind of protagonist enough. <<less

An interesting idea and a worthy implementation (at least at the time of chapter 122) at first I was skeptical and even wondered how it was possible to build a romance with such "disgusting personalities", but surprisingly it turned out to be possible! I don't want to spoiler it, but I'll just say give this novel a chance, because I've been putting it off for a long time, even though it caught my attention. Here, for the first time, I met the main character of the harem, who does not... more>> annoy me and even arouses sympathy, as well as the heroines who are fighting for love and not waiting for someone to save the "damsel in distress" again, and last but not least, no ridiculous humiliations of the main character by either the heroines, others, or the main character himself.

VLADISLAKA described the story quite well in his review, so I won't repeat myself too much. I am writing this solely to express my support and hope for the speedy release of new chapters that have not been published for some time. <<less
