- The novel starts off weak and clichd. The idea isn't new, but it has some innovative points and a clear sarcastic tone from the author. The author has a unique touch. The protagonist lacks a well-defined personality, and most of the side characters are forgettable you won't remember them after a paragraph or two.
- For a novel based on our world, even if set in the future, world-building should be easier. But no the author clearly struggles with imagination, as if no research was done at all.
- Moving on to another point: despite an interesting thing, many plot elements feel forced rather than natural. The narrative is a complete mess. The logic within the story needs serious adjustment too many coincidences
- and add to that how easily the characters accept their friend who has clearly changed! Especially the women, who supposedly have a heightened sensitivity to such matters.
- Imagine having a genius girl beside you with an IQ beyond comprehension and sharp observation skills, yet she fails to notice her friend's personality has changed.
- And imagine sending someone to another world for no clear reason just for commenting on a movie? That's a reason that wouldn't convince a child.
- The bar plotline at the beginning of the novel is utter nonsense any writer with a few working brain cells could come up with something better.
- The protagonist doesn't show the proper emotional reactions to the events. His disturbance lasted a second, and he felt nothing when pointing a gun at someone for the first time. He didn't even feel fear or hesitation when facing gangs. Can a young man who lived his whole life in peace and order think like that? I doubt it.
- But credit must be given to the author for portraying psychological distress and anxiety during the first kill nowadays, we rarely see heroes affected by such things.
- There are plenty of plot armors, and I haven't even read many chapters. The author throws the protagonist into countless problems, and when it becomes impossible for him to get out, plot armor comes to the rescue. This is a common issue for writers who lack a sense of balance regarding the kind of trouble a protagonist should face.
- Character introductions are another dimension of nonsense. It felt like I entered a fandom page listing the character's highlights and facts! What is this? Characters should be introduced gradually so a complete picture forms not dumping all information at once in a single context.
I don't think this novel is worth reading. It might be enjoyable for someone who wants to burn their brain cells, shut their mind off, and deliberately avoid using logic. Final Rating: 3.5/10 A tr*sh novel.
