An interesting read. It’s about a holy knight who was saved by a saintess and vowed to become strong enough to stand by her side. After that—boom—a twist happens: the saintess and the knight switch bodies! We then discover that the saintess is very different from what the MC initially thought. At first, I thought she was a pe*vert because of the title, but nope—she’s someone who can’t relate with others and kinda of a sociopath. And guess what? The MC (in the saintess’s body) manages to make the FL... more>> (in the knight’s body) fall in love with him thanks to his innocence!

Spoiler

I swear, the MC is a cutie patootie; he suits the saint role so freaking well!

[collapse]

One last thing—they should really add the “yandere” tag. The FL isn’t just obsessed with the MC; she’s straight-up willing to give up anything just to be with him. <<less

TLDR: Think it deserves a try. The romance and le*d jokes do get very repetitive, but the well developed main and side characters make up for it. The plot and world background has also been very interesting and well executed so far.

Pretty good novel. The saintess was bodyswapped with her new bodyguard knight who spent most of his life to get to this position after a heartfelt prayer. Now they are stuck like this. The MC takes over her body, and acts how a ideal saintess would. Meanwhile, the... more>> saintess, is essentially a yandere tomboy who repeatedly makes le*d jokes and teases the adorable girlish MC.

As one can tell from the last part, the novel was somewhat repetitive. Every chapter consisted of the FL teasing the ML, and he squirms in embarrassment.

But, there is actual plot to this novel. And at least so far, the side characters have been really well developed, and they are not the least bit flat.

However, this is more of a romance story than anything. The plot is there, but it's more of a minority in my opinion. I wish this was the other way around, as the plot was actually pretty interesting. And the romance and le*d jokes were getting really repetitive. For that reason, I ended up dropping the novel.

I think this is worth a shot to read though. <<less

The latest chapter solidified this for me, but it’s truly well written. I was sure during the first chapter that I would drop it, and the jokes afterwards weren’t the best, but they established the characters personalities and set up part of their arcs. Both of the MCs really grow on you and things are ramping up now into a proper interesting story rather than just erot*c jokes. The jokes do stay, but they help alleviate the mood instead.

As for the latest chapter, to me it established that this story... more>> would have actual side characters; not just one dimensional tools to advance the story. They’re human, they have emotions and reasons for being how they are. This stands out in a flood of web novels that struggle to make a complicated semi interesting main character.

I would recommend to at least give it a try, even if le*d jokes bother you, I think it’s worth it to push through it for what’s looking to be a really good story. That said, I’m good with them, so I don’t have the best perspective on if it’s possible. <<less

My rating is currently 5 stars, since I am not a real critic and focus on whether it is a enjoyable read that does well on what it is going for. It can be noted this series is more of a body swap series than GB, and that there will be some back and forth.

The premise of the story is that a knight named Usher has spent his life aiming to become a knight who protects and serves the saintess Bersia, who had reached out to him when he was... more>> a boy in the slums. Only for the moment he finally gets promoted to his dream job, for him to have swapped bodies with said saintess who he learns is not the kind of person he expected.

Usher is a real straight shooter, a upstanding man of character and abilities, who worked hard to get where he got. The more the story progresses, the more we learn how he is respected by others in character and ability.

The plot is mainly character focused, but at the same time it's not just a slice of life. There are actual developments and arcs that occur, and setups for the future. When it comes to the character dynamic, Usher is a warm expressive character. Which drives the cold and closed off Bersia to enjoy teasing him to pull reactions out of him. Meanwhile since Usher is so genuine, he gradually is warming her heart until she has feelings for him.

The early part of the series tends to downplay Usher a bit, but he actually isn't a complete incapable fool. This recent arc especially has really begun to show his competence in multiple ways, including how he deals with people. In fact, to a degree he is too competent, since he learned to do holy spells with his body, when he becomes the saintess who has a body better suited to holy power, he winds up having the problem of overkill (trying to heal one person, he might heal the entire hospital or city).

It's a fun sort of handicap, where Bersia has to learn actual technique to make use of Ushers well rrained body, while Usher is limited in what he can do with Bersias body, since if he can't control it properly. So they work together to gradually improve what they can do as each other.

The character interaction between Bersia and Usher is in a similar vein to Nagatoro and Paisen, or Dark Elf and useless knight. Very similar to the recommended series "villainess".

Bersia to a degree is a paper tiger. She taunts Usher with le*d remarks, but she isn't actually that way under her shell. For example she recently had a embarrassing moment where

she had a "le*d dream" where Usher sincerely confessed his love for her and they just held hands

[collapse]
. While Usher undoubtedly acts as more of a "maiden" when he is in Bersias body, Bersia is showing more and more of her own maiden qualities as her feelings for Usher grow, and her protective shell is crumbling. And Usher despite the teasing, is showing more of his manly side.

The setting is pretty decent. The saintesses are not the pure maidens the cliche usually has the be. They are kinda like a Russian nesting doll. The outer layer is "benevolent saintess" like the cliche and church wants them to be, symbols. The next layer as they act themselves, is very distinct from that image (Bersia being a cold isolated person who teases usher with le*d comments for example). Much in the vein of "this job (saintess) is a hassle. But the next layer beneath that, you can see some genuinely decent/good qualities that may have been worn down from their circumstances and experiences over the years.

Which when Usher interacts with them as such a good person, he begins to reach that layer of who they really are/were.

The church I think is portrayed pretty well here. It fundamentally serves a good purpose. But with the image and politics involved, things get twisted and messy. The church isn't the cliche "Oh, they are actually horrible people" nor is it the ridiculously kind/perfect to a childish degree other series have. It's much closer to being realistic, where churches do many good things in values and action, but they are not as pristine as they present themselves as, and a full of flawed people just like anywhere else.

In terms of the genderswap stuff, like I said this is more of a body swap. At the present point, I could see this going where the swap becomes permanent, the swap ends, or it keeps going forever. I lean towards the end where the swap ends and they stay in their original bodies (based on what I think the authors plans are), but I could see it going any number of ways.

Fans of GB may enjoy this (as it is amusing to see yet again "it takes a man to be best woman") with Ushers personality doing so well as a saintess. And yet people who dont particularly care for GB may still find this not off putting, particularly when some of the character development begins, and swap backs occur.

Anyways, this is pretty good series. Definitely 3-4 /5 for normal peoples scale. I would recommend at least reading until the first swap back if you really want to give this series a fair shake. <<less
