“My name is Zeon, and my weapon is the entire desert.”

To the person who said all they see is a weak idiot... couldn't you have just waited? Lol. This is pretty good. Eh gets stronger. I really like his mentor.

I will say their were some plot elements that could have been handled better

Spoiler

he gets this hour glass that I thought was going to be put to btter use but it literally doesn't mentioned until several chapters later (literally forgot he still had it) when he randomly needs help and it breaks because the significance was the sand inside it. Like, there could have been more of an explanation. It felt kind of forced to me

[collapse]

The world background is so cool though. I get the feeling
Spoiler

his mentor is gonna die soon.... and he'sgoing to inherit the sword.... I jist feel it in my bones. Someone please tell me I'm wrong. Pls.

That's just my prediction. I took a break from reading and I'll come back to see. <<less

Yeah right now, there's so few chapters but the MC is currently weak and an idiot. They said cunning but all I really see is an idiot struggling to barely survive

Novel about a "clever" person written by a not-so-clever person.

Or rather, how a "cunning" person seems to someone as intelligent as a box of rocks. They really don't understand the process so make up a bunch of stuff in order to make it seem smart, but it's only "smart" to them because they're not.

In this novel's defense, I've just suffered through a string of "highly recommended" novels written by a bunch of Korean smooth-brains, and this is really doesn't seem to deviate from the pattern (so far). Maybe the slow... more>> deterioration of that particular society with its many sociopolitical issues has lead to a corresponding deterioration of creative talent in general, or maybe it's just the current hole I've fallen into being mislead by the same few circles of "recommendations" following particular patterns which has lead me to this current uncharitable opinion of the genre.

The translator keeps "assuring" the reader that there's some sort of up-tick in a vaguely undefined future which will no doubt be both spectacular and satisfying, but so far it's failing to hold my attention.

Quite unfortunate, found this on the same site translating "Revenge of the Iron-Blooded Sword Hound" which was a very engaging and entertaining read despite not being a fan of some of the component elements. <<less

There's been a couple of boring parts and some moments where the MC does something questionable (but not entirely out of character), but otherwise it's a great read. MC gets strong, stays smart, and good world building.

Only chapter 10, but its fun. There's sort of a vibe with the master character (that's what I'm calling em) that reminds me of dragon ball z. Its got potential. I hope we see a time leap after a death of the master, or something fun there.

Could be pretty good. The world building is at least pretty decent given the small scale of length so far, and with the familiar sort of awakened setting, it feels fun. We'll see.

A unique, fresh start. No regression or transmitigration or anything, just a pretty new plot and idea.

I personally can't really judge on the exectution of the plot, but the first 10 chapters have been a reasonably entertaining experience. As one of Woo-Gak's books, it'll probably be pretty good

I expected a lot more from the good reviews but I suppose the average rating is the winner here. I feel like for this story, it mightve been part due to the translated editing style of the words. It's hard to explain without reading but it basically felt like a Chinese martial arts novel sped up with everything being cause and effect structure. A causes B, so on. The setups felt prettt arbitrary and rushed, lacking a lot of depth. I did not like the developments either as it heavily... more>> felt like one of those cheap average Chinese manhuas you come across sometimes where the effort is very minimal and everything is just randomly put there with action scenes splitting it up <<less

I just have to say, it’s been a really long time since I’ve been able to binge read over 100 chapters of a novel. The world building is fascinating and unique, as I haven’t read or seen any novels that focus on an apocalypse related to the world, essentially turning to dust, but in this case, sand.

There’s quite a few aspects I loved about this novel.

  1. Zeon (MC) is not a transmigrator or regressor.
  2. Master-disciple relationship essentially.
  3. Hiding OP powers done nicely and for the most part, correctly (if you’ve read other novels with this trope you’d know exactly what I mean. OP MCs pretending to be weak when they’re actually super strong, but in Zein’s case, he shows himself as strong as in the average strong so other awakened know he’s skilled but not absurdly OP until later on, which is a key difference from getting scorned and looked down on in other novels)
  4. Side characters. They all have their own motivations and stories which make them more than one dimensional.
  5. A lot of the action scenes are exciting to read in my opinion, especially when Zeon first reveals his sand mage identity.
  6. Worldbuilding is great and detailed, like I can imagine the world and the monsters there.
  7. Love it when Zeon shows off his powers !
Now as much as I loved this novel, there... more>> were some problems I had with it as well.

  1. There’s quite a bit of repetition such as reminding us of a side character’s background (as they continue to have reappearances like 10+ chapters later) and when Zeon is fighting awakened people that are A and above, the author always emphasises that they’re not ‘ordinary awakened’ a lot during action scenes.
  2. A lot of exposition for the world building, which isn’t bad since it was weaved in well with the story, but when I see the same exposition repeated like 20 chapters later just written in a different way, I do skim it over since it’s irrelevant to read again.
  3. Personal wish, but I hope we get to see more of Zeon’s internal monologues since that drastically decreased after the timeskip
  4. I have no clue what Zeon’s goals are except wanting to find El Harun but beyond that is a mystery. Furthermore, I’m curious if he wants to find a way to meet

again but chances are highly unlikely.
Overall, I binge read all the translated chapters within 3 days so I’d say it’s pretty good. <<less

I always forgot but MC was quite young and unstable when the first chapters started. It was basically just prologue like naruto before shippuden started. The real novel starts after the time skip and oh boy, MC did some maturing and growing up, he even hides all his strength, even at the cost of nearly losing. Even as a reader he is full of mysteries because we know that his stronger than how he appears to be from some passages like having things from stronger monsters or even intimidating some... more>> creatures, but what he shows is not nearly enough. Then there’s the missing backstories from the time skip. I hope this gets translated faster and we get to read along latest chapters from COO. <<less
