Ye Mian had just survived his third year of high school. Before he could live his so called easy-going and free life in college, he was hit by a truck and transmigrated to the Da Wen dynasty — a dynasty that did not exist within history.

Fortunately, his new identity was that of a young master from a powerful family. Surrounded by servants all day, he lived a life of luxury. But so what? He still had to attend school early in the morning.

The earlier he had to wake up, the more displeasure he had.

Thus, the young man began to rebel. His life motto went from “improving oneself” to “living in the moment”. Within the imperial academy, he formed a new gang and became the school tyrant.

This counts as school life during ancient times?

The protagonist MC reminds of WWX with his sunny personality and ability to make friends wherever he goes. He is a kind-hearted but not a meek person. He values his friends and stands up for them when he sees them suffering.

Out of all the transmigration novels I read, this scratches all the itches - a modern to ancient transmigration + a school setting + warm x cold couple. Also, the author doesn't spend much time on all the time it takes the MC to adapt to his new surroundings and... more>> it is mostly mentioned in the passing, which I find is quite new and different a approach than some of the novels I've read. I like the MC and will wait for the other chapters to be translated. Thanking the translator here for bringing us this novel 😊

Don't know. Might be because recently I am in mood to read this kinda setting, but find this oddly satisfying.

I find Wei Angyuan more adorable than ML lol. But at the time of writing this review, I am on chapter 41, so the ML still has some time to win the MC's and my heart over 😉 <<less

This is a rather light hearted story of how the MC form friendships and gets a husband. The MC is transmigerated but other than his morals being from the 21st? Century, it's not a huge plot point. We follow the youthful MC as he forms cliques in school and resolves problems for the people around him, always finding a way but never overstepping. The other half of his time is spent with his family members. This novel touched deep into how family bonds can be both broken and mended. It was really wholesome seeing MC repairing relationships.

As for his relationship with ML, it's like a school bully with his crush. (ML being the bully and MC the victim who fights back.) To me, the romance line was a bit awkward to read since the two leads were written as if they were young adults despite being underaged teens. It felt disjointing since this kind of romance is what I'd expect from older pairings. Even the novel's artwork drew them more alike adults, not underaged teens who just finished elementary school. (The art is chef kiss but you can't tell me they look 13/14. I thought they'd look more like the 12 y/o MC of wasteland cubs, especially since MC transmigerated on the body's birthday making them turn just 13/14)

Nothing majorly wrong with the pairing itself but I ended up reading the entire novel envisioning them as young adults instead of young teens.

Spoiler

Didn't feel that connected with the cp because of this disjointed feeling, but I lowkey shipped Wei Angyuan and Qi Yu with MC more just cause ML was such a bully.

He did pamper MC a lot after they get together but he went overboard with some of his pranks. Folks never mess with someone's allergies.

Thankfully the author didn't go overboard with the flirting and we are constantly reminded that they are underage, so the romance line is not that strong compared to the slice of life parts of the story. The story is really more focused on how the MC navigates through series of challenges life throws him. Just wished that the author would tone it down with the details of ML's fantasies because I fr didn't need to know how pretty MC's toes are.

The ending felt incomplete since there were unanswered questions and feelings unresolved so I'm glad the author's planning to publish a sequel. It's called "Working in Ancient Times" which I assume would follow MC's journey in the officialdom.

Spoiler

Qi Yu, one of the characters I got attached to, is listed as one of the main side characters so I'm really excited about it. The extras had a tear jerker with his previous family so I really hope there will be some sniplets of them in the sequel.

[collapse]

With all that said, the ratings of 4.1 feels a little low for this novel. Despite some short-comings, this was a well-written as a slice of life school series that had added flare with occassional drama. The positives outweighed the negatives and the good writing flow is something you hardly see from the typical transmigeration works. Don't let the lower ratings stop you from trying this.
