I'm being generous with 3 stars because it's not bad. But I did drop it.

Before I begin though, the biggest thing that bothered me almost immediately was the fact that it's obvious that either the author or translator doesn't know the difference between the titles of Count, Viscount, Marquis, or Duke. I feel like it's the author as over time the MC's title does stay consistent with 'young duke'. But that in itself shows that the author did not put much effort in European culture. Yes, it's their story.... more>> No it's not a pass for them to botch an existing nobility system that's still currently in use today especially if they're going to borrow it.

I was able to power through the title switching but that in itself knocked a whole star off.

Now for the reason I dropped this. It got boring. Plain and simple.

Again, the plot isn't bad, but the author is focusing on the wrong reasons in this story. Especially with how the summary sets us up to think that the main stars is both the MC AND the ML. The ML feels like he's just there to remind the reader's that this is has romance in it.

It starts off fine, MC wakes up back in time and starts trying to mend his mistakes. And of course, things start to get convoluted and their relationship will not be the same as before. And this story was good until they graduated the academy.

I understand that the author wants to use the political drama as a plot driver but there's no consistency in that drama to keep me hooked. It's like scrolling through TikTok for hours only for this one short to make me gasp. And I don't have TikTok.

That's 0.5 star knocked off.

The other 0.5 star comes from the lack of interaction between MC and ML. The summary, especially that last sentence, put my expectations to see them interact more. Instead, MC slams his walls down hard, which honestly fair, and shuts down ML's attempts to want to get closer. All that understandable and par for the course since that was also to be expected from the summary description.

I honestly don't care about the lack of romance. I just want to see them actually interact more. Give them more scenes especially since they're both deep into the political warfare that's going on and one the same side and mingle with the same people! I understand that the MC is MC for a reason but I don't need to know that 'the tea was to his taste' and have a scene that doesn't add to the plot. <<less

They switch the title of the MC multiple times for example; 'the young count', 'young marquis', 'young duke' etc, and the use of the wrong gender when addressing the MC for 3 straight chapters. All of these issues had stopped me enjoying this novel and just made me confused if the MC was a boy or a girl. The plot seems convoluted but simple in a bad way, making issues out of nothing, along with the mc's personally changing in one chapter and never reverting.

This is so good but so stressful at times.

Read if you're OK with or eager for a plotty slow burn. This is so far from being one of those instant obvious ships, being much more interested in following the journey of Hailen as he tries to escape from the trap of his first life, though Gail gets his own POV frequently.

Thank you for bringing this out translator sama! Its still a long way to go so I won't be making a long review. But so far I like the pacing of the story and its premise. MC being villain is a plus tho ML appears to be evolving into a possessive guy which is pretty common, I just hope he ain't gonna be a yandere like any typical Korean ML. Anyways, I'll be camping here.

Chapter 77 in and got me impatient, I needed to vent out. It was super slow, some details could be lessen or be omitted. Thus, other povs are unnecessary.

The translation is downright mtl or my comprehension is lacking. Its like I understand the words but as a whole doesn't make sense. And they not even using big words or not suited to what described, it just doesn't make sense but can be understood. Im also confuse, maybe the vagueness of the author and the translators couldnt deliver it properly? Idk

Tbh,... more>> I found MC a jerk. Imagine those harsh words say to him by the ml, we all going to hate the ml. Bottom privilege, I say.

Plot wise there are some plot that I dislike like the title said, I find that a small thing out of war and political fight. Yeah it was the title itself and the main plot but I find it insignificant 😂

Chapter 100 I think that when the plot really started. With all that build up, it took 100 chaps.

Overall this is good. Not too bad to read. <<less

Now, other people's criticism re: the confusing titles addressing the MC is completely valid. The POVs sometimes gets tangled and I don't know if it was the author's writing or the translation was the issue.

Nevertheless, I give points to this story. Very engaging and slow in terms of fleshing out its plot. I did get a little impatient (but that's a me problem) but I'm looking forward to how the story unfolds in the following chapters.

Definitely worth a shot to read.

I like the story and characters. Their conduct is realistic and reasonable. It's as if we see real people. This title has only few explicit scenes in the main story, so I kinda hope to see more of those in side stories.... look forward to it!
