Let me first speak about the novel purely. It was a sweet yet realistic concept, with a plot that held immense potential. When the novel was still in the high school arc for the female lead, I felt deeply connected to her and her experience as a young girl who fell in love with her much older brother’s friend and the psychological waves she floated with as she moved forward in that journey.

That was the most endearing part of this book for me.

Another thing I would like to applaud is... more>> how respectful and lovable the male lead was. He was always warm and gentle, never rude and obnoxious. He treated her, from the beginning, as a flower that he cared for and loved (in whatever form it was).

I adored that he was always sure about what he wanted and never second guessed being with her once he realised he had begun to adore her more than an older brother does.

However, the biggest issue with this entire experience was the bad quality of translation. It was obvious it was machine translated and sloppily edited to be a little bit more sensible. Or perhaps the translator is proficient in Mandarin but subpar in English.

However, for whatever reason it may be, the lack of quality in the translation really affected my reading experience in the adult arc.

I couldn’t relate to the female lead and even felt she was a little selfish and always thinking of her own feelings and priorities. This might not be the case, but due to the translation and misinterpretation or expression of a sentence or word... I was unable to pick up on the true authentic meaning.

I wanted to give this a 3/5.

But for the first arc, I will give it a 4. <<less

Wow...

I don't know what to say. This deserves five stars. I love it. I love everything, down to the characters (main and side) and the plot. This novel had a more realistic development to it which I liked and it wasn't boring. It has it's funny, tearjerking, and wholesome moments.

I don't know if this counts as a spoiler or not but I was originally reluctant to read this. I didn't know why I didn't like the thought of that. But when I read it, I knew I was wrong and I loved how it developed. Slow paced but realistic.

From MCs and MLs point of view, it was done well.

The MCs love was pure and how she grew from the 13 year old girl with her budding love till she's 20 year old and finally got the love she wants.

The ML finally saw her as a woman, no longer the younger sister, the kids she was, he was conflicted at first but eventually pushed for it.

80sh chapter. Super recommended for those who wants modern, 1v1 love

Loved it to bits. The plot is strait forward, doesn't meander. The characters are great. Everyone has a personality. The development of their relationship is neither fast nor slow just right. You can really feel that they are perfect for each other not because the author wants them but because of their personalities and life experiences. The only bad thing is that the translation need serious editing but still kudos to the translator.

i think this is a pretty mid solid standard romance novel for this genre. Typical age gap and childhood love. My fav part about the story is how long the FL like the ML for. Def a pure fluff romance to read if u feel like taking a break or in a mood for fluff romance.

I have read this novel for a while now and only decide to review it after listening to the audio drama on missevan (i think it is the most pop audio drama on... more>> the platform despite BG). If u can understand a bit of Chinese and know the inning of the plot I def rec. The ML voice here is \ (//∇//) \ I love how the ML va leak his doting for the FL everytime he talks to her. There are also some scenes which I was more invested in with how sad the FL cried. (Not to mention the various numerous kissing breathy scenes there are here///)

This is a story that made me scream into my pillow at 3 am and got me giggling like an idiot because it's full of cuteness and fluff! <3

I absolutely adore FL so much. I have so much love and admiration for FL for her long years of crushing on ML and I cried alongside her when she's struggling to cope with her overflowing feelings of unrequited love. She's so lovable and there's no way to not like her!

ML's shamelessness is so funny and sometimes my eyes go wide because... more>> he is so shameless that I feel embarrassed as well lol. I actually like their relationship so much and the both of them have unconditional love for the other which makes me think that oh my god they're probably soulmates in their past life.

Overall, it's a feel-good novel and the writing is so good??? It feels like I'm experiencing it firsthand and the words used are so beautiful like a poem oh good lord- <3 The pacing is good too, there are no draggy scenes and everything got concluded nicely. Finally found the age gap novel that really worth it. All the characters are interesting even the side characters. I really like FL, she's funny, smart but not mary sue. She also done s*upid things in the past but because she just in adolescence age so we cannot really blame her... I like her shameless & childish attitude. Her love journey from a simple child crush to true love made me smile & sad together with her.

And currently this novel ML is the best ML of Cnovel that I read so far. He set the bar really high. He's kind, gentle, patience yet flirty n really shameless. I really like that despite FL is his first love, yet he never once develop inappropriate feeling for her when she still a child. Only after FL reach legal age that he start see her differently. and seeing how he treat FL when she's child how could not FL develop a crush..

Lastly, this novel not all about romantic love but also family love & friendship. You could see FL is well love. her family & ML really spoiled her from the start. Even when her parents disprove their relationship we can understand their concern & intention. Her parents such a good people & parents. I also like her brother eventhough he tsundere and they always fighing but when she need it he always be there. that sibling.

This author has really blew up in the past 2 years in popularity. This novel is one of her most famous ones yet.

especially given the FL starts off being 13 years old, but luckily the ML did not like her until they reunited again when she was older.

However, I recently listened to the audio drama, and it really made the story better - recommend everyone to listen to it if you understand Chinese, it really brings the characters to life. I now understand why our ML is so charismatic (our Duan Lao Gou).

All in all, I think it is a pretty decent love story, but perhaps doesn’t fit my cup of tea quite as neatly. However, I can still appreciate the story and its popularity! <<less

Omg.. I love this novel. This novel is a hidden gems. The plot and the characters are good.

When I read this, like a heroine aka FL. I also fall in love with ML. ML characters are funny, shameless, seductive, and ahhh I love him. All about him, I love it! All of it!. Hahahaha. I want to transmigrated to this novel 😂😂😂 let me be with ML!! 😂😂 Oh yeah.., Their love story is sweet. FL character is lovable. I'm sure you won't regret it. You'll laugh, cry, ... more>> and blush. the fight between the siblings are very childish lol

BUT

the plot and love story are very realistic & mature (not because of the s*x, but the way they fall in love and communicate to each other)

there's up and down, also there's character development

the siblings always fight, but the brother will always protect his sister

but then after knowing ML & FL in a relationship, FL parent opposed it (for various reason including age diff)

so we know where this will go, I assume ML will listen to FL parent and stay away from her and never to appear again, poof! Like other clinche characters

BUT NO!

He never have thoughts of dumping FL, they both tactically assume they're in relationship with marriage in mind

Even when he feeling himself unworthy of FL, very low self esteem too

Still the ML was planning to keep trying & trying to persuade FL parents until they approved (but it didn't take long lol, only the 2nd meeting they already persuaded)

This what I really love, it's very rare in any novel, where the couple will continue fighting and trying to be together even when they can't, yes there's problem but running away is never the solution

Most couple in the novel I read, there must be either the ml/FL running away dumping their partner because they ASSUME what they do is for their partner own good, the 'I'm letting you go for your own good and because I love you' kinda shit,

that's just f*cking s*upid to me, if you truly love someone, you will continue to fight for being by their side, fight for it, change for better if you can

And that's what the ML do

and it's not 1 sided, the FL too do the same, they both fight for each other

😭😭 so good. It left you with a warm feeling. I love the dynamics between FL and ML, both of them are likeable and mature. The plot is not draggy. What I like the most is FL, she was potrayed as someone who's decisive, understanding, smart, and mature 💜

For the one review that criticized the translation quality....i don't know... maybe bcs english is not my first language, I never felt anything wrong with the translation, my reading experience is quite enjoyable. This is such a fluffy and heartwarming story!!! Every single of MC and ML's interaction is cute and sweet. ML is gentle, caring, and considerate to MC. Yet, he can be shameless and tease her constantly. How can someone be so perfect :3 He's so good... I love how ML is MC's first love and ML's reaction when he realise his own feeling. They have a healthy relationship as they communicate with each other all the times. The novel did really well with the age gap and the transition to their actual love story cause a lot of people found it weird about a 7-year age-gap. It's fluffy and sweet with a slight (a very teeny tiny) hint of darkness. The ML in the drama definitely outdid himself cause the ML in the novel was a little less convincing to me on the age-gap (just my opinion btw).

In terms of the writing, it has a more casual tone, hinting at the characters' emotions and the atmosphere in that exact moment. It contained just enough amount of details to picture the scenes out. <<less

i really love this story! The development, the character, the plot, the feels, everything is very well executed. Every character has their own story, and no one is really hateful for no reason. Even the most unreasonable one is really written very carefuly. The author seems to have done a good amount of research for the story to be wrapped so beautifully.

the confluct is really realistic. About the past you cannor erase, family, friendship, and the difficult situation when you fall in love with someone who seemed to be "out... more>> of your reach".

the only unfortunate thing is that the translation is not really excellent. I'm not saying that it's bad, no, but it has several part where the translator confuse us with 'he/she'.

however, if we're looking at this book as a whole, it's a very good story. I would absolutely recommend you guys to give this book a chance. <<less

At first started reading the manhua which is in my opinion one of the best romance manhua ever created on par with many famous romance manhwa and manga and then I finished the Novel.

its a sweet love and fluffy story of a first love/ crush which becoming reality with the passing of the years,

its truly a beautiful and wholesome story which gives you a warm feeling

... more>> I highly recommend both the novel and the manhua and I truly believe that they are a Masterpiece

ps moreover there is a spin of Eternal love / FIrst forst with the protagonist the brother of the FL in Secretly, Secretly; But Unable to Hide It

First frost is also is another beautiful story but its more sad and more tragic than this one

but overall the novel and the manhua is almost on par with this one, though less fluffy and the FL there have more tragic past but it is a must read too. <<less

After watching drama for nth time, still couldn’t get enough of sz and djx.. So came to read the novel and I cried and laughed more for the characters. There is a depth to the story of djx in the novel. Must read for all the romcom lovers. JDX is more hilarious in here than in the drama. What a mature characterization for all the characters. Well done.

This was a perfect slice of life romance. FL had a secret crush to ML who was her older brother's bestfriend.

I loved the ML. He was so gentle, patient, and sweet to FL. Where can I find this perfect ML for me?

At first ML truly treat FL like a younger sister. But when he realized about his feelings (don't worry, it wasn't when FL an underage), he shamelessly pursued her and thought that no one would treat FL as well as he did (i loved his confindence).

Even though FL a... more>> bit immature and spoiled, but she was very reasonable and rational. She is smart and strongwilled. She didn't care about ML's background and past stories, and protective to ML in her own way. She was like a ray of sunshine that countinued to shine in the ML's tragic life. Actually, I was a little frustated with FL's dishonesty regarding her feelings. But I also understand that was because of her insecurity about their age gap, and afraid that if he found out about her feelings, it would change the relationship between them.

The interactions between FL and ML were hilarious. ML liked to teased FL, and always answered by witty response from FL.

I also loved the relationship between FL and her family. FL and her older brother often bickered, but they cared for each other. Their parents were kind and pampering FL.

It was a great novel. Totally recommended! <<less
