In the fourth year of raising cubs alone, the father of the children came knocking on her door.

The well-dressed man stood at the door and asked her, “Are you Shang Xi?”

“…Yes.”

“I’m the father of the cubs.” The man said domineeringly, “Come with me. Don’t think about useless things like refusing or resisting.”

Shang Xi stared at the face that resembled her son’s so much, and slowly murmured, “Oh.”

In fact, she hadn’t really thought about refusing or resisting at all…

On the surface, Gu Wenming was the head of the prominent Gu family, but in secret he was the patriarch of the werewolf clan. During a heat that came three days early, he had relations with a human woman who had accidentally wandered into the wrong room.

Werewolves only have one mate for life, but he hated the fickle disloyalty of pure humans, and refused to go looking for her.

One day, he heard the cries of a cub.

Only then did he realize that the human had given birth to a cub, and the werewolf cub was going through the painful period of bone development.

For the sake of the cub, he brought the mother and child to come live with him.

At first, he said coldly, “I have no interest in you. We’re just the parents of the child.”

“I only care about my cub.”

Every day the two would drop off and pick up the child from preschool.

They participated together in parent-child activities organized by the school.

They attended parent-teacher meetings together.

One day, Shang Xi went on a date.

The man was shocked and angry before he realized his own feelings.

He cut off all her dates on the pretext of taking the cub out to play.

He frequently searched: How to pursue a human woman.

He tried giving her houses, cars, bags, planes… nothing worked.

When the agreed upon date arrived, the woman left with the cub.

The arrogant patriarch of the werewolf clan, the head of the prominent Gu family, broke down.

This is a very cute and funny story with a kind but firm independent female lead, her adorable son (who actually acts his age unlike most novels), and a gruff man who leads a pack of very endearing characters.

The male lead isn't my cup of tea but he isn't bad either and tho there are some parts where he makes me very mad he was consistent in adoring his son and coming to terms with falling in love with a human he misunderstood.

It's a light read. It's good for a casual read for romance, a little wife-chasing crematorium, some angst and drama. It resolves pretty quickly though.

Basically starts when ML finds his child with the MC after they had a one-night stand 4 years ago. ML is adamant not to like the MC and MC honestly also doesn't care about the ML but they then fall for each other.

ML falls first after he realizes how good the MC is, and then finds out MC doesn't like him back and he chases her... more>> for a bit. I would have liked more remorse on the ML's part as it was due to his inaction that a major misunderstanding occurred, causing them to be apart for four years+. If it weren't for the baby needing the ML's help, I think they wouldn't have reconciled at all.

I also wished MC was a bit more b*tchy/petty HAHA. But she's honestly such a sweetheart. She had a terrible childhood and formed a rather people-pleasing sort of personality. She's not timid. She's actually very brave and she works hard for her child. But she's just been so downtrodden by life that she doesn't expect much from people, and doesn't open up her heart for anyone.

ML gradually finds out about it and becomes more doting as the story progresses. I do find that he's a bit too possessive. But the author just says that its due to his werewolf animal instincts lol.

Pretty okay romance that made me cry at the angsty single mum problem chapters. MC really had it tough.

Side characters also had romance which was interesting! Author wanted to write about different characters and pairings so there are quite a few.

Wolfy tsundere younger man x chubby exuberant lady

Cold, quiet law enforcement man x delicate lady who was saved by him

and others which I won't spoil.

Basically a HE for everyone. Extra chapters are 40+ because it covers all the side characters romance and final ending where everyone has a picnic together with the babies lol. I read the extras via MTL. Very readable MTL. Translation was 3/5 because of wrong names and errors in formatting. <<less

Female lead has a brain, a spine, and an independent source of income! The ML is prejudiced against humans, and does not want to like her, but he's a bit of an idiot. Overall, not dog-blood or crematorium, but not pure fluff either. Baby shang is cute, smart but not an ultra-genius, and kind. Really loves his mom, slowly warming to dad!

I hope Baby Shang's little friend from the flower shop and her family stay a part of the story, I'm pretty interested.

it would be four stars but the FL started to piss me off so much by the end that I had to knock one off. Her utter lack of comprehension of the werewolves only ever have one mate thing was truly a level of absolutely mindboggling s*upidity and bc she was so s*upid she never seemed to feel an ounce of guilt that she ruined the ML's ability to have another one (and kept thinking that he'd find another girl eventually bc he's rich and cool despite being told multiple... more>> f*cking times werewolves literally cannot do that, it's her or no one, FOREVER) bc she was too dumb to read a hotel room number. There was one point where she was feeling guilty that their son would grow up around less family once they moved out and instead if thinking that maybe instead of impulse rejecting her baby daddy whom she has essentially forced to be mates with her forever she should try to form a relationship with him the FL thinks maybe she should try blind dates so he can have a step dad????? Atp I deadass wanted the ML to kill her and take the kid bc it pissed me off so bad lol. And this was AFTER he told her that the only reason they were apart four years is because when his pack members found her and asked if she remembered him she told them she didn't care about it so they were like damn ok and left. Like she's so insanely selfish it's unreal and she really doesnt deserve the werewolves who seem to love her unconditionally bc she's so cold and distant and rejectful towards them for no actual reason. It seemed like the author wanted to keep dragging it out like crazy to the point it turned FL into a raging as*hole who I completely hated <<less

Not my cup of tea. Translation isn't great either with plenty mixed up names, pronouns, etc. The author did give a fair warning about the FL not being a "strong" woman, but I kept hoping she'd show more backbone or that the wife-chasing would somehow make up for the ML's personality flaws. Sadly, that didn't happen.

My main complaint is that the character development feels shallow and inconsistent. We start with a devoted single mother—lacking self-esteem but very capable of protecting her son. She's outwardly gentle, but inwardly judgmental and with... more>> a short temper. She's been through depression and suicidal thoughts, but becomes strong for her son, eventually doing well enough to buy a nice apartment and open two flower shops. She's also subdued because she needs the ML's resources to keep her son healthy, and is conflict-avoidant, though she can set boundaries and assert herself when necessary. But around chapter 100, when the ML starts aggressively courting her, she suddenly becomes dazed and submissive, manipulated into closeness with him. She doesn't seriously discuss protecting her son or ensuring a healthy childhood, just believing him and letting him do whatever he wants. As another reviewer said, she's also willfully deaf on the "wolves only have one mate" matter.

As a principle, I can't stand how the ML uses "forceful" methods, treating women as though they're too s*upid to know what's good for them or need to be deceived or pushed into a relationship to be happy. Even worse, the FL undergoes a sudden personality change, and her resistance to the ML conveniently disappears for the sake of the romance plot. Then there's the ML's hot-and-cold attitude—one moment he disdains her, then he lusts after her, gets possessive, and acts like a jerk, only to later claim that wolves are the best, most loyal, and respectful husbands. I can't stand his self-centered angst, especially when he realizes how terrible he is only for it to last 5–10 chapters before he throws his so-called selflessness aside and says, "I want her, so I'll have her, no matter the method or her opinion." That's not cute nor romantic, it's immaturity at best. Honestly, he needs a therapist, not a wife. Also, as usual with these tropes, the moment he falls in love, his interest in being a good father drops sharply, as he becomes jealous and meddles in the mother-son relationship to monopolize her. It's rather cheap.

The other wolves are portrayed as silly or impulsive children, more comic relief than serious independent characters although there are some couple pairings with interesting stories.

It's an okay read if you enjoy the dominant CEO x poor little wife dynamic and don't mind the constantly shifting moods of the ML. Otherwise, skip it to save yourself from the frustration. <<less

I finished this novel in a day through mtl and I can say it's so good! There are many side couples and I love each one. The cub is cute and clingy, the character development is good, the romance was well developed and not rushed! There was regret, guilt, chasing and heart wrenching moments! I had to read it in 1 day, that's how good it is! In fact I wanted to read more but alas I can only use my imagination and be satisfied with H.E.!

If there's one thing... more>> I am dissatisfied with that's the part where the cub didn't get that closer to the ML but its quite understandable. I would have loved more father-son moment hehe.

Give this novel a try, you wont regret!

Couples:
Spoiler

Shang Xi & Gu Wen, Gray Tail & Zhou Ziyi, Qi Ming & Blue Tail, Cang Ling & I dont really understand the name of his mate lol, Red Tail & Dai Cen

It was ok overall, leaning towards good but not quite there; most memorable for me is how much the pup loves rabbits lol. My favorite wolf is Gray Tail - most straightforward with his thoughts and feelings (after he recognizes them) without all this misunderstanding-building that takes up the majority of the story.

I love the Author! I love how she gives tragic background FL happy ending. And how she tried to give other side characters their happy endings.

I laughed. I cried (a lot) reading this. I felt deeply for the FL. I love her!!! She really deserves everything!!!

Thanks you so much Author! And thank you translator!

THIS IS ONE OF THE FEW RARE STORIES WHERE MALE GROVELING IS PORTRAYED ALMOST PERFECTLY (don't take my word for it, it's just my opinion).

  • Good translation? ✔️
  • No cheating? ✔️
  • Misunderstandings, then communication? ✔️
  • ML groveling? ✔️
  • Strong FL? ✔️
  • Cute and adorable son? ✔️
I love the FL because she is written so well: a beautiful, strong, and independent mother who is doing amazing with raising her son (so adorable 😭). She has went through A LOT, which is why she is written the way she is. At first, her actions are written light-heartedly; further... more>> into the story, it becomes angst and I shed a lot of tears because of how relatable she is.

Spoiler

She's the type of person who thinks that no one loves her, so she keeps a distance from everyone while maintaining a smile on her face. She does not have any expectations from people she encounters because she has kept her heart guarded, from the pain she went through as a child.

[collapse]

The ML, on the other hand, was a HUGE a**hole at first. As in, he was really acting horribly prejudiced towards her in the beginning (understandably so in his POV). Although, I will give him points for not mistreating her in the story (he kept a distance with her, which he'll regret soon LOL).

When I tell you, I HATE it when the ML acts a certain way with the FL, but the FL succumbs to his apologies after 2 chapters. Not with this story. It's a slow-burn with their romance on the FL's side...

Please give this story a chance! It is translated well and you don't have to think much! It's a rom-com with a bit of angst...

Spoiler

But it is a happy ending!

It's a fun read, some light drama, overall more of a slice of life story.

Story about the mother entering the world of werewolves for 6 months for her son. The father is in denial due to "instincts" taking over. Think twilight werewolf but way less creepy.

4.5 but rounded down due to the ML's flip-flopping personality, the really weird late stage plot twist, and the repeated use of the words "Pure Human".

The MC is Shang Xi, a young woman raising a son on her own. She has severe abandonment issues and genuinely does not want to pursue any kind of relationship with men. Her parents died when she was young and she was bounced from relative to relative before being raised by a kind old woman. Only for said kind old woman to die and the... more>> not-so-kind relatives of the old woman to kick the MC out of the home she lived in. This has led to the MC choosing to live only with her son.

The ML is Gu Wen, the leader (or Administrator) of a group of werewolves and CEO for the Gu Corporation. He went into heat a few days early (not what it's called for males but whatever) which resulted in the MC becoming pregnant. However, the people he sent to look for her were morons which eventually led to him further disliking "pure" humans. Once he does discover that she has his baby, he immediately moves with the intention to get his son before falling for the MC. Just be prepared for whiplash with his mood swings.

Spoiler

That song "Hot N Cold" by Katy Perry would completely fit for him. One moment he hates her, the next he wants to be with her, then he's indifferent, then he's h**ny and then he's back to hating her again.

It was like the author really couldn't decide on exactly when they wanted the ML to try and become hopelessly in love with the MC.

It's made especially worse after he discovers what happened in her life prior to his second arrival. That's when he decides he cannot pursue her because he realizes he's an a-hole. This lasts for all of maybe 10 chapters.

[collapse]

The little cub is mostly adorable but often feels like a plot piece instead of a real character. His only motivation is his love for his mother. We do have some brief development of an attachment to his dad but again, the whiplash is strong in this as the author decides for him switch back and forth like his dad. Guess the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree?

Most of the story is pretty straight forward. We have the wolf pack. The ML trying to win over his mate. Baby wolf adapting to what he is. Some rogue Fallen werewolves that need to be dealt with. And then we have the weird plot twist arc just before the end.

Spoiler

The ML accidentally eats a "snow crystal". A magical thing from their home territory that is normally used to prolong the life of old people. Just if a wolf eats it while not being old, it makes them regress into being a cub again.

So we are treated to a few chapters of the ML reduced to a toddler.

Which end with him forcing himself back into his adult form to protect the MC from being crushed to death in an Earthquake.

[collapse]

The ending is alright, nothing spectacular but nothing overly bad either. It at least gives us a Happy Ending even if it felt a little rushed. <<less

Kinda mid. The wife chasing was pathetic short, especially considering he let her raise their pup alone for nearly 4 years. Honestly he should've grovelled more, I hate how quickly she forgave him. Translations are mtl, inconsistent and incorrect pronouns, and name inconsistencies and mix ups that negatively impact the reading experience

6/10 cute fluffy romance kind of book, started off well but then I got bored... with this genre/plot I think there could be more potential. All in all if you want to binge read something lighthearted then I think this is great
