Lin Yihuan suddenly finds herself transformed into the daughter of a prime minister. Her father is convicted, her elder brother exiled, and she and her young brother are demoted to commoners.

She pats her younger brother’s head: “Don’t be afraid; your sister will take care of you!”

Half a month later, a dessert shop opens in Shengjing.

Gossiping onlookers: “A shop opened by the daughter of a criminal official? We mustn’t go! Absolutely not… Huh? What’s that heavenly smell?”

Later—

Gossiping onlookers: “Just one sip of the wine she brews, and it’ll haunt your dreams—you won’t be able to sleep!”

Lin Yihuan: “Coffee, buy one get one free.”

Noblewomen: “Only the soufflé from the dessert shop can truly reflect our status.”

Lin Yihuan: “Got it! I’ll deliver it to your residence shortly.”

Young gentlemen of the capital: “The drinks from the dessert shop are sweet, but the proprietress is even sweeter!”

Lin Yihuan: “Sir, would you like to sign up for a membership? It includes free refills~”

*****

The dessert shop becomes wildly popular, attracting even the capital’s most notorious playboy, Liu Hexiao, who strolls in twirling a folding fan.

Liu Hexiao is the second son of a prince. Arrogant and lawless since childhood, he’s a devil feared by all! Even the emperor finds him a headache.

Gossiping crowd, furious but too afraid to speak up: “It’s over! The proprietress is surely going to be harassed! What a wonderful young woman she was…”

But to everyone’s shock, Liu Hexiao tosses aside his folding fan, silently ties on a small apron, grabs a menu, walks to a dining table, and says,“What would you like to eat, dear guest?”

Gossiping crowd, trembling in fear: “What’s going on with the shizi?!?”

Liu Hexiao, rolling his eyes: “I’m the male boss— the live-in son-in-law type.”

2. This story is set in a fictional world, one very, very detached from reality. It’s full of personal creative liberties. If you don’t like it, don’t read it.

3. Add this to your favorites. It’ll genuinely make you feel good.

TLDR; Cute slice of life romance with a rushed ending

It’s a cute romance that will leave you smiling. The relationship between the main characters starts early and grows throughout the book. It builds at a slow rate that makes it all the more satisfying.

The rest of the book is okay. I scrolled through the paragraphs describing the desserts because there are way too many of them. I personally didn’t find it interesting reading about them classifying their customers to grow their business.

My main complaint is that the ending is super... more>> rushed. The last 2 chapters tie up 95% of the plot while the beginning of the book is more slice of life style. The description is misleading because no one knows that she is the daughter of the exiled scholar. <<less

The story is just as sweet as the desserts in it. While there are plot holes (a lot of things that happened would *not* be possible in real world ancient Chinese society), it is a Fantasy story with spaces and NPCs set in ancient times so! Instead of looking for accuracy, enjoy the soft, fluffy romance as delicious as the food descriptions XD

It's short length also definitely helps - if it was longer in this setting, then it would drag, but the amount of chapters is exactly right. Read it... more>> if you want something short, cute and full of fluff with a generous helping of business management thrown in!

p.s. - Make sure you have some snacks nearby when you read it! <<less

It's a cute slice of life novel. Nothing too complicated. It's a watered down version of longer novels that feature systems, cooking, and leveling up. There's an underlying plot related to the male lead, but it wasn't anything dramatic or unheard of. There was one instance of angst (imo) but it wasn't really drawn out and was resolved quickly. The ending was a little rushed in the sense that everything was resolved rather quickly but nicely with not a lot of loose ends. The ending really only addresses the ML... more>> and FL, not really anyone else. The 'epilogue' was rather short too so you don't really see much of their ending.

TLDR: Nothing new or different. Sufficiently cute with enough plot to tide you through to the next great novel or as a palate cleanser. <<less

I truly enjoyed this, the romance here was slow-burned which made the development of relationship between leads being good and not forced. This focused more on FL's business.

Anyway, I liked FL (Lin Yihuan). She's a chef and opening her shop but suddenly transmigrated as daughter of fallen Prime Minister. She's business-minded and independent.

Also, I came here for Male Yandere tag but ML was actually no yandere tendecies. ML (Liu Hexiao) was initially known as infamous for his bad image... but he actually just tsundere, he was laid back but actually... more>> got deeper manipulation (politically) in his sleeve. Also, he's been supportive to FL and her business.

For con, it's too short and rushed ending despite some major issues already solve (felt the need to have more chapters tho). Also, there were plotholes, as m FL said some details and ingredients were NPCs and unbelievable to acquire in ancient setting... so expect that her cooking harder & kinda impossible to made during that time if without help of plot device lol. <<less
