After being defeated and captured, the dragon-slaying hero Leon became a captive of the Silver Dragon Empress.

With a resolve for certain death, Leon unexpectedly turned the tables and successfully imp**gnated the empress on his verge of dying.

He thought that this would be enough to let the empress live with shame for the rest of her life and he also fulfilled his duty as a dragon slayer.

However, two years later, when Leon opened his eyes, he found a little dragon girl with a tail lying beside him…

First. Let me start with a disclaimer: I hate wuxia, xianxia, or whatever most Chinese novel cr*p. Yet I somewhat like this series.

Let me start with pointing out at least 7 cliche weaknesses of Chinese novels:

1. Setting is unnecessarily chinese.

... more>> 2. MC is a psychopath.

3. Heroine is either a doormat with no personality or a super perfect mary sue with no imperfections whatsoever yet for some reason she only had her eyes on MC.

4. There is always a powerlevel increase with enemies keep coming to MC. With MC keeps killing them and their dogs and 7 generations above and below said enemy.

5. MC is an autist who only wants to become stronger which consists of secluding himself in Mt. Cultivation for some years for no logical reason whatsoever.

6. MC considers ancient chinese medicines with dubious effects, ingredients, and origins as his highest priority since they can help making MC stronger.

7. MC and heroine barely even interact yet the author keep insisting that they love each other so much and how much of a perfect couple they are.

And why this series managed to overcome 6 out of the 7 previously explained cliche:

1. Setting is western, MC and heroine are meant to be western characters. Thank God.

2. MC is NOT a psychopath. He is definitely NOT a mu*derhobo. That's it though. Like most chinese MCs, he doesn't really have a solid base of morality in him. Still better than most chinese MCs, thankfully. He is not a moralf*g either.

3. Heroine is a dork. She pretends to be tough (as is Internet Tough Guy kind of tough) and actually looks like that in the early chapters. Over time, as you read more, you will finally realize how much of a soft-hearted dork she is, which is kind of adorable. She is still beautiful, yet she is definitely not a perfect wife. Far from it. That makes her really interesting as a character. Maybe I'm biased from reading too much doormats and mary sues over the years.

4. There isn't. Powerlevel is barely mentioned. Thank God.

5. MC is already one of the strongest human alive by being a Dragon Slayer, and he is currently weakened. He does wish to be strong again, but surprisingly, it's not his first priority now. Raising his daughters properly is his first priority.

6. Unfortunately, these kind of medicines are still in the series, but thankfully they are not that prominent. They exist and they can be helpful, but that's it.

7. Well... I'm surprised there is no r*pe tag. The premise of the series is MC and heroine keeps trying to r*pe each other. And failing, since they only end up having totally consensual vanilla s*x off-screen. "I'm going to further humiliate you by r*ping you!" "No, I'm the one r*ping you!" "No U!!" There is even the expected "Kuh, kill me." segment.

And finally, a series where the MC actually raises his daughters properly with no Usagi Drop involved. And the wife is involved too. This is EXTREMELY rare, so rejoice!

Keep in mind though, there is a lot of s*x off-screen. They are off-screen... somewhat. But it's super obvious they are there, if this is a Japanese syosetu novel, it will be kicked to the nocturne section effective immediately. <<less

Both sides of the “couple” are prideful and strong individuals who constantly try and one-up the other in a sequence that keeps progressing their relationship. It’s like their married life is a game of chicken that they both keep losing.

Spoiler

I hate you so much that I came down to this dungeon to torment you.

Well I hate you so much that I imp**gnated you with our daughters.

I hate you so much that I saved your life so you were only in a coma and now you have to raise our children (and have your dignity violated by sleeping with a dragon again).

I hate you so much that I violate your dignity by you sleeping with a human.

We hate each other so much that we kiss each other and go on dates along with sleeping in the same rooms (making up for these skipped steps when they went straight to having kids).

[collapse]

They are a bit of a mess and it is amusing to watch. <<less

Loving family? Yes

Good action and fight? Yes

Romance between the MC and Heroine? Nice

Story about the children? Yes

Srutal Bex? Of course

To be honest, this novel (and now they're producing the comic as well) seem didnt that good but only r#pe each other at first. But, if u read more of it u will realize that this novel not only about srutal bex but has developing story about conspiracy between dragon and human, child care, unexpected romantic story, and many more.

Edit: I realize my review seems pretty negative from the start, but I think it's worth reading

I have two problems with this novel. One is that the translation isn't very good. For example, the female MC is often referred to with masculine terms or titles, such as "His Majesty". The dialogue is also confusing at times because the dialogue is credited to the wrong speaker, or the dialogue will speak about themselves in third person or be worded in a way that makes it unclear who is talking. I think... more>> some proofreading/editing is sorely needed.

And the other one is more personal. Early on, I don't like how the male MC is near-constantly belittled, treated like a cute little pet and so on. Or maybe it's more how he seems to just let it happen, desite boasting about his "pride as a dragon slayer". Anyway, I wish the relationship was more equal. Or, well, in this novel it's probably more accurate to say I wish their positions switched more often, so it was more give and take.

That said, after a bit, the relationship does become more like what I was hoping for, and from that point on I enjoyed reading it, despite the translation issues. So if you like the premise, which as another reviewer mentioned, somewhat resembles Love is War, it's worth a read imo <<less

Finally I though I found good non harem book, tough luck it seems. Its just f*mdom fantasy with sprinkled childcare here and there so it doesn't appear as your regular smut. There are some funny moments here and there but they are a bit cliche. Ah also translation is all over places sometimes.

MC is getting punished all the time for nothing, starting at very original 0, 5 dimension betrayal to just being used as walking dildo for FMC. I have no idea where "self proclaimed unbreakable dragon slayer will®" is... more>> and if its ever gonna make appearance, it just reads like author got some fetish and wanted to make character he can self insert into. Of course they are attempts at hiding it with MC's "revenges" that are 10% of what our self proclaimed strong willed™ slayer getting and still most of time failing. I often heard chinese love to declaw females (which I honestly despise) and today with confidence I can say they are people of true gender equality and also love to neuter their males. If just author could make it equal then it would be fine "happily raping each other" type of book.

For some reason I really like childcare segments. Usually in other books I avoid like plaque chapters containing little spawns of devils, truly wonderful and mysterious book. Author made me hate what I love, and love what I hate. Maybe some of mc's ab*se got to me and its some form of escaping, I guess I will never know.

I have no idea if author have some 1000 year old plan for how they can handle puny MC being human married to long lived mighty dragon, but its been only 110 chapter and plot holes on that side are already appearing with no sight of pothole crew even being called. <<less

Just a short review/ first impressions.

Before the review itself however I must mention. See if you can get your hands on the original text and just MTL it. This translator sometimes has decent parts of the chapter simply missing. Like in chapter 15 the entire part about MC meeting his second daughter was cut out. Its incredibly jarring because you notice the cut in the story.

Other reviews mostly point out what I'm about to say. Theres decent mystery about the human vs dragon dynamic and the MC getting betrayed. His... more>> relationship with the daughters is nice. The MC and the heroine being enemies that acknowledge each other while also being romance shouldn't come off as a surprise at all but its done pretty well.

But one of my problems with the novel is that its quite slow. Sometimes one party is on top while sometimes its the other and very rarely they'd collaborate together either pretending to be a family to others or actually being a family to raise the daughters. But a lot of the former situation keeps repeating and the novel spends an unnecessarily long time describing it, minus actually describing the s*x part because this is a chinese novel and that's not allowed. The world development or exploring the human vs dragon dynamic or the mystery behind the MC's betrayal is either not explored or just sidelined at the first excuse.

Its still an 8 out of 10, but I'm putting it on hold for now, will pick it up sometime in the future but for now the story progression is a bit slow. <<less

This one is a bit of a strange read for me, and I have mixed feelings about it. I give it a good score anyway since, overall, it's pretty good and, more importantly, it's way better than most Chinese webnovels I've read so far (with a few exceptions).

So, why is it strange? Because I always have simultaneously good and bad feelings about the whole thing while reading it...

In the first part, until they start to get familiar with each other, I often felt uncomfortable, since it's basically about them rap!ng... more>> each other and the FMC having great fun weakening the guy even though their children have already been traumatized by their father being in a coma for two years... On the other hand, the whole r@pe thing somehow "makes sense" and the FMC's hatred is quite justified too...

After a while, their antics become very frustrating for me because, while you can infere that they are making progress in their relationship, since they're dishonest not only toward each other but also in their own minds, it feels like they are running in circles and nothing will ever progress...

Then,

Spoiler

after she sends him back to the Empire

[collapse]

it becomes quite annoying.

Spoiler

The FMC becomes way more honest with her feelings but the MC is constantly ruining the whole thing for petty reasons. Even after going through the terrible experience of almost losing her and learning just how much she loves him, he still can't tell her he loves her properly. And while he, himself, avoids conveying his true feelings all the time, he constantly pushes her into confessing hers, being all smug about it.

[collapse]

But still, it's often pretty cute and heartwarming, especially their relationship with their kids. They are really devoted parents.

Still, the good but bad writting extends to the world building as a whole.

On one hand, after some time, the author starts developing the plot outside their family's everyday life and there are a lot of interesting mysteries to uncover; plus, most expected clichés (like "the love rival", "the family opposition", etc.) are avoided. And there are a lot of touching and also funny moments.

On the other hand, the glaring plot holes that have been here from the beginning are still not addressed after a long time.

One of the main plot holes is the very fact that the guy is human... I mean, they are hiding this fact from everyone (their daughters included) because it's a terrible misalliance, so they have to play the "happy dragon family" for everyone to see. But, no matter how you look at it, the guy will physically change very quickly (from a dragon's perspective), even in just five years. Then he will grow old and die. How are you supposed to explain all that to the outside world (especially to your daughters) ? And while the FMC wants him to get close to their children, won't it traumatize them when he dies so early?

Spoiler

As a matter of fact, after they more or less aknowledge their feelings, the FMC basically admits that she can't live without him, but she still doesn't seem fazed whenever the MC reminds her that he will die "soon".

[collapse]

Also, since they don't know about any other mixed-race child, shouldn't they worry about how their daughters will develop? How long will they live? Etc.

Spoiler

Before the third daugher is born, the MC keeps praying for her to inherit more human characteristics (because of his competition with the FMC)... but is she supposed to live here if she doesn't even look like a dragon? How? Plus, do you really want to pray for your daughter to live a short life and die hundreds of years before her sisters?

[collapse]

Anyway, I quite enjoy it as a whole, but also often feel frustrated while reading it. <<less

I assume it'd get better after the setup, but to me, this novel is just absurd. It has blatant crazy wish fulfillment settings of the author's wet dream. So many illogicalities and heavy plot forcing, together with obvious plotholes. The story was just too wack for me. And I'd assume the rest of the story would be like so too if the setup parts were reeking that much.

But it seems to he a family / daughter raising novel, so maybe it'll be good? But I didn't get to it

It's a fun read, a story about a wholesome family with loving (kinky) parents.

The story centers around the bickering and character development of the two main leads, with occasional arcs that focused on their daughters, but it's not all wholesome and fun, there's also a much bigger conflict in the background that hid itself greatly, and when it come out, it did not hold any punches.

Anyway, the best synopsis I could describe this WN is "A double S couple who are very kinky and likes to roleplay, also they have... more>> daughters" <<less

I'll cover the character development and romance development (these 2 are tied together), the slice of life and the action scenes, which author sometimes remember to throw at us.

I'll get the boring stuff out, since none of you are here for the action. The action in the first volume is almost non-existent. It become more prevalent in the second volume, but it is still nothing crazy. The action is good enough in my opinion, and considering that this novel started as a purely romance and slice of life, it's going... more>> strong. Now, if you are here thinking that the majority of this novel is action, or that it's strong points is the action, then you are going to be disappointed. I am unsure if the action in volume 3 is dominating the show, but from what I've read up to now, the romance and slice of life are done the best. So if you are wishing for some crazy action scenes, and battles after battles, then no. No tournament arc, no academy arc, none of those.

Moving on to the slice of life, the first volume is mostly consisting of it. And let me tell you, it was great. I really am disappointed that the author did not go down the purely slice of life route with minor actions, but rather tries to create a balance between them. The slice of life was very good in my opinion, and I do not even consume slice of life novels for the most part. I really enjoyed the every day life, and the parenting that Leon is 'forced' to do. The slice of life basically consists of Leon having to parent the kids while the wife is a bit clueless about how to parent. There are many good interactions and moments which I do not wish to disclose because I believe that experiencing them yourselves is for the best.

The character and romance development is very good but frustrating. The whole couple dynamic is them trying to disgust each other, at the very beginning at least. One is a dragon, while the other is the strongest dragon slayer of the empire, so you can guess the dynamic. The slowly fall in love but neither of them have the balls, or in this case, one of them does not have the balls to say it. The one without the balls somehow has acquired invincible ones because she says it to his face, but the spineless cowards won't accept. F*CK. My biggest gripe with this novel is this, him not actually saying the words 'I love you' to her. There must always be something in the way, such as his pride, preventing him. I think the author plans for a genuine confession to be done much later on. Now, before somebody says 'actually 🤓', yes, Leon does say the words, BUT, and a BIG one, once it happened when the wife was under the influence of alcohol, the other I can't remember. He simply won't say the words. So while the development is very good, the fact that despite them having reached the proper step, Leon not taking it, confuses me. I would personally think that them taking this last step does not in any way mean that the novel should conclude here, rather them admitting it could elevate the plot even further. It would feel even more as a genuine family rather than having loving children, but actor parents. The kids which Leon and his wife have are these sweet little angels. The shenanigans that they pull off are amusing to read. Reading the eldest ones adventures at school was my personal favourite moments.

Despite me bashing on Leon and his wife, their interactions are very nice and funny to read. The romance build-up is very good but really slow, it takes it's time. The action is fine, but the true gem in this novel are the slice of life scenes. I recommend this novel, it's a quick read containing heart-warming family moments and nice romance. <<less
