Similar to s*um Villain Self Saving System. The tone of this is not a comedy at all and I definitely feel more sympathy towards the MC here than relatability like with Shen Yuan in s*um villain. The main leads are also hard to not picture as the main leads of s*um villain if you read that first lol Luo Binghe and Shen Shu are pretty much the same person. But the love interests surrounding the MC are all s*um except for the ml. Ye Yunlan the MC really runs into... more>> every type of male s*um and has had a really tough previous life. It’s really disgusting how much his life has changed by just not having his face damaged in this life. There are other factors too but I don’t think that any other variation of his life could have been worse than his previous one. Pretty privilege is REAL lol. <<less

Quite a thoughtful novel. There is a lot of hidden backstory that we gradually get to learn.

beautifully written and translated.

it also discusses the influence of beauty in a more deliberate manner than most Chinese novels.

but beware of heaps of differently flavoured obsessive characters. Of course they are all well written.

Beautiful! My only frustration is that the romance part took too long to develop, and it ended shortly after that, I wish there could be more chapters about it, their love really transcended time! It's a great piece of art, can't wait to read the official translation (the mtl was really hard to read at some parts).

I thought I know the story general guide line but actually they have another plot twist and turn.

feeling is controlled. How do you differentiate real emotion.

Only one word is true. They are noisy. Kill everyone. I don't mind.

I wanted to like this, but the author was dead set on wasting any of its potential. Over the course of the story you can watch as the author seriously trades everything they'd built up for mediocre soft-core cultivation p*rn. Nothing is so disgraceful as to establish Ye Yunlan as a character who has suffered so much pain and humiliation, who struggled to survive against all odds and persisted despite his increasing ambivalence to all things, and then turn him into a furiously blushing tsundere bottom who can only protest... more>> "b-b-b-but we're master and disciple (⸝⸝>﹏<⸝⸝) ". Given the indignities Yunlan suffered in his last life does it really make sense that he'd blush at anything Shen Shu does now?

The author really wrote some of the chapters with one hand, as they are shamelessly dedicated to their characters having a lot of s*x and romanticizing or eroticizing their awful relationship. Shen Shu is called "overly naughty" despite basically abusing Yunlan. This ab*se too is minimized through the ambiguous terms of being "tossed around". Shen Shu even spouts the common r*pe myth that Yunlan isn't really a victim because he "clearly enjoyed it".

Even on the morning after their wedding night where Shen Shu r*pes Ye Yunlan while the sound of chain that binds him rattles in his ears, Shen Shu tells him that after he gets used to it he'll learn to enjoy it. This is the culmination of Shen Shu's love, isn't that great?

Not to mention the insatiable top cliché, "Master.. We need at least ten rounds". This is so overused it can barely be described as beating a dead horse, at this point the author is playing the xylophone with its bones. It's not explained why, I guess the author remember that there was a story they hadn't finished, because suddenly Ye Yunlan is able to return some sanity to Shen Shu through the power of his bussy, and I guess we're supposed to pretend that everything is okay now.

About the supposed tragedy of this story.

The greatest tragedy of this story is that despite Ye Yunlan's rebirth offering him the opportunity to live a life where he could cultivate feelings with Shen Shu without being turned into a s*x s*ave, all of Yunlan's efforts to save him are wasted, and Shen Shu still becomes a psychotic obsessive rapist. In this way, despite being reborn and avoiding many of the disasters of his first life, ultimately nothing is changed. Shen Shu's "love" for Yunlan amounts to confining him and using his hole to restore his sanity, and Ye Yunlan's affection is essentially to resign himself to a life he cannot escape. I can understand this dynamic, but depicting at as a romance and describing their feelings as love is a total f*cking joke. If there was a good ending to this story, it would have been that Shen Shu accepted his master's unwillingness to be saved if it meant disgracing their relationship, and they enjoyed the last two months of his life together.

I read it with bated breath for several nights in a row. It's a very interesting story, a great adventure line, a great romantic line, it was never boring. But there is a lot of glass, sometimes quite heavy. The characters are very interesting, and their relationships make you think about what love is... Now it's one of my favorite novels.

I keep this simple... with tear in my eye I will say this is worth the emotional roller-coaster, the suspense, and mystery, the could've been better but the extra redeemed it. Beautiful! Simply beautiful.

Mixed feelings about this. I enjoyed the cultivation parts, adventures in secret realms etc. But most of the time I was either heartbroken and feeling depressed for them or annoyed (especially as the plot progressed) by the characters's inability to communicate and depend on each other! Even till the very end! Regardless if its this life or previous or past reincarnation.

The plot would be a lot better if they actually supported each other through the troubles instead of actually literally repeating same mistakes or I would even say hindering their... more>> own relationship.

The ending of main story was however sweet and happy but their happy times together arent many so I am left dissatisfied.

In conclusion, novel was alright. Could be better. I kinda wanted to give it 4 stars, cuz I think 3 is too low but im too dissatisfied with lack of any happy moments... <<less

I started the novel on October 4 and today on October 9 finally completed it. It's 12:30 pm rn. And today's Sunday.

About this novel, I think this is the first time I gave a novel 3 stars, it doesn't mean that I haven't read more novels that maybe deserved 3 stars too but usually by the time I reach the end of a novel, I only have good feelings about it. I only feel the melancholy of completing another novel so I end up giving 4 stars even to the... more>> ones that made me super mad at times.

This time I gave this one 3 stars because god did it make me absolutely FURIOUS AND MAD AT TIMES. Like damn, one warning if u gonna read it, u must be prepared to get so frustratingly mad that u might spit out blood from anger at times. I have cursed the MC a lot at times and even wrote it on the site I read it from, it's cause he makes u so annoyed. Tho in the end he did get a little more powerful but I wished it was a lil earlier.

I feel sad about the ling er situation. Also one thing I really hated about this novel was the flashbacks part. Like this novel is a mix of present and past stuff. There's a LOT of flashbacks and many a times they r repetitive. I was always like yeah yeah can we get back to present already.

Tbh, I'm glad that I persisted through to the end. Even tho the ending is rather sudden, I have invested a lot of time in this novel so reaching the end felt rather blissful. All in all, this novel is a very very bumpy ride that makes u want to rip out ur hair and jump off a cliff. I would say one of the most frustrating ones I've read. So read at ur own risk.

P. S. The first time I wrote such a long review 😂 cant believe it's for a novel I have so many grievances with. All the best ones, I usually write just 2-3 lines. <<less

An epic story with lots of twist and turns and heartaches. Even a bit cliche it’s one of my favourite genre. Feel abit like erha but not so twisted. This story got all the elements though. Great read. Thank you

The story is great, I really like it. It's been a while since I have binged read a new novel. I feel the angst and it makes you really feel sad for the MC. Although the MC is sick, he is in no way a push over. He just wants to live and die peacefully.

The ML is a little yandere but is a disciplined (?) yandere. He doesn't feel over the top for me. It's also understandable why he acts like that considering his past.

However one thing I don't like... more>> is how it transitions from one scene to another. It feels so abrupt which often leaves me confused. But it's still a good story nonetheless. 100% recommended for those who wants to read light angsts. <<less

The only problem I have with this is that since the MC is largely influenced by his past, we as readers is also introduced to it. That was not the problem per se, it’s just there’s a reminiscing every chapter and MC brings us to the past with his memories (not only him, this is actually the author’s favorite way of teaching the readers the background of the story and of the characters). Too much of it and I started having dissonance with the present time story telling that I wish this story was actually written based on MC’s past life no matter how tragic lol. Anyway, I’m still at around 1/3 of the story so it might get better from here when everyone from MC’s past have already been introduced. Well, I hope so. <<less

Really, I truly can't wait to read what the story has been hinting at. If I didn't have such bad experiences with MTL from chinese, I'd risk it.

First of all currently loving this novel, I have almost no complaints except for the FLASBACKSS!!! They're so annoying and so frequent like??? And sometimes they last 2 chaps at some point I was confused which is a flashback or the present because GOD why are they so focused about... more>>

him meeting the demon lord at adult form anyways like it's just so annoying he meets him when he's just a kid so what the hell their past interaction doesn't even contribute to the story and why is it when that chen guy looks at the future 10 years later he's gonna be the mc's daoist companion is that a mistranslation cause the MC repeatedly says he doesn't want one??? And even if that like doesn't happen how even gonna do that since that chen guy now think he and MC are bound to get together like?? Shouldn't destiny change or something like this just s*upid and pmo

Master-disciple tropes—especially when the disciple is the gong—are not usually my cup of tea. However, this novel has two of my weaknesses: rebirth and fated lovers. So I decided to give it a try, and it's not bad!

The story is well-constructed, even though there were some confusing points, they would be fairly revealed in the end. The characters are equally well-developed. The romance between MC and ML is touching but don't expect much. Among the villains, I felt bad for the Sky Sect Master.

I couldn't help but feel sorry for him; fate seemed to play a cruel joke by making him forget his true savior and recognize the wrong one instead.

On the other hand, the most hated villain for me was definitely the MC's so called dao companion. The author was so clever in crafting words that make me so annoyed at the villain.

The audacity in calling himself "husband" while taking advantages of Ye Yunlan was irritating to the extreme. Not to mention, with his divination ability, he treated people like chess pawns, and manipulated them as he pleased, especially the MC. His end—dying by the MC's sword—didn't feel like enough punishment for all the harm he caused to both the MC and ML. He deserved a far worse fate.

Overall, I like the whole story, it's worth my whole holidays to binge-read it. However, there was one thing that made me a little bit disappointed.

I'm dissatisfied with what happened to Ye Yunlang's twin. After falling into a coma, his fate remains unknown. I know he was in Yaori Palace but I couldn't help but wonder if he would stay that way forever. He wasn't a bad guy though—he really cared about the MC—so I had hoped for a better ending for him.
