Generally, I think that compelling systems that threaten protagonists with death or similar penalties in order to drive the plot are a sign of lazy writing - the author can't come up with a plausible reason for the character to be desperate, so they force one.

This novel on the other hand at least uses a creative approach: If you don't comply, you become a furry!

Now that will get a protagonist motivated!

Otherwise the plot is pretty much all over the place with no clear direction yet. It's admittedly fairly early, but... more>> due to the short term nature of the missions from the system, it's impossible to tell what the long term progression is going to be. Here are a few things that have already happened or are in planning:

  • Suggestive illustration art on a subscription base (including erot*c art for higher tier members)
  • Commissioned illustrations (including erot*c ones)
  • Streaming (mostly art, some discussions)
  • Cosplaying at an event
  • Selling (suggestive) fan art at an event (in cosplay)
  • Making a visual novel (self-funded, but professionally voiced)
  • Creating and selling merchandise for that game
  • Selling cosplay photo books

So at this point it's not clear whether the novel will keep following the title or just use it as an occasional gimmick / as a way to kickstart the "real" plot. The MC's mother does work at a photo studio for models, so it's quite possible that cosplay and modeling takes a larger role in the future, but it might also continue being focused on art like his previous life.

The only thing that can be excluded is financial investments using future knowledge. Those were explicitly considered and avoided (and the protagonist has the necessary background knowledge to at least make some money due to investments in the previous life). It's possible that some investments will be mentioned and be used to fund other projects, but they won't be the main subject of this novel.

If you've read my review this far, good job, and thanks for your patience.

Overall the novel is fairly entertaining, and most of the subjects are things I either like reading about in other novels, or that I've come into contact with privately, so it's easy to immerse myself. It's also fun to read something without knowing where it's going for a change. <<less

I really like the initial premise of the novel, seemed like it knew what it wanted to do—along with some funny gags of being threatened by the system of being turned into a furry if the protagonist failed the mission.

It basically drags on making the game for a while, then delves into V-tubers. After the game is released, there are a couple of time-skips that just tell about progress in making V-tubers and its management, graduation (from school), and Yuri.

BTW, the system is basically not even present anymore; just hearing about the skills gained from the system earlier in the novel.

What happened to the cosplaying? You know, that is literally in the title of the novel? It’s lost the gags and charm that was initially a part of the novel. Now it’s just Yuri and managing V-tubers: even worse is that it’s seen for the money rather than passion and interaction with the audience.

Essentially, it looses direction of what the novel wants to be; perhaps a lack of passion from the author to continue.

So the initial first 50 chapters I’d rate it 4.5 stars.

But later on to chapter 110, I’d rate it 2 stars. <<less
