One day, Elizabeth Barton, a villainous daughter who is a mob, suddenly regains her memory of her previous life and realizes that she has reincarnated in the world of the otome game ‘Royal Lovers’.

Elizabeth is dissatisfied with the world of this otome game, where only good-looking guys are given preferential treatment.

“That’s right. I should be the target of the capture.”

And so, the days of Elizabeth, the daughter of a duke, aiming to become a noble and fabulous capture target who would make the protagonist, the heroine, fall in love with her, began.

She dressed as a man, polished herself, was adored by other girls, and sometimes inexplicably deepened her bonds with the other capture targets. It’s a heartwarming romantic comedy about her journey to achieve her goal.

I have read the entire story and for those expecting yuri - it kind of sort of is not. It also kind of sort of is not romance. It's something like Bakarina.

The author made a bunch of side stories depicting various romantic ends and an entire something 10 chapter extra story with yuri ending.

The story itself is fun and engaging in its own way, with many ridiculous shenanigans.

It's a different take on the villainess genre. I'm not sure how well it's going to go but it definitely has some things going for it.

The writing is considerably better than the usual Japanese light novel. The author changes things up frequently and is able to keep engaging the reader. There's a bit of a problem with fight scenes or scenes with more than three people but over all it's still very good

The main character is quirky in a Bakarina kind of way. She is continuously reasoning logically and flawlessly... more>> but coming to the wrong conclusions in comedic ways.

The cross dressing and potential Yuri is still up in the air, so this rates s 4 <<less

) . In a sense, she's very refreshing, especially since whatever she does is pretty unconventional.

Even if she's acting out a role, she's not particularly pretentious, at least - a lot of villainesses that want to eliminate their doom have this iffy characteristic wherein they deliberately become kinder to people not because they feel bad, but because they want to save themselves. While I understand their motivations, it makes their kindness appear fake - which is why it's important that in spite of that goal, the villainess-turned-protagonist should genuinely want to be kind to them whether through pity, sympathy, or actual kindness born out of true feelings, for there to be more appreciation for this character.

In her case, that thought is almost nonexistent. Unrepentant, bold, and mostly honest, her goals and desires matter most above all, and she is not abashed to express her selfishness in this goal of being a capture target for the heroine. Still, in this "gentle world", she may just be the change that everyone would be looking for. <<less

The premise is interesting. The MC is also unique as she's the type to be into bodybuilding (she states she'd like to bulk up, but doesnt to appear appealing to the heroine). She's also exeptional in martial arts.

However the story just didn't appeal to me. Up until I read so far there's no antagonist, no villains. The MC doesn't really meet any significant obstacles. There's no problematic support or side characters. There's no "i have to convince those persons to let me act as a male" arc as her family... more>> is on her side from the start.

Not that there need to be some significant plot in there, but I felt like it lacked something that made it more interesting. There's other novels of this type (like the "its better to be a wicked villain" or whats its called) which actually has a very interesting plot and good writing.

This novel is nowhere at that level.

Would I recommend it? Nope, I almost fell asleep reading it. I liked the idea though. <<less

Is this novel amazing and mind-blowing? Should it be rated 5 stars? No, in my opinion. It isn't anything revolutionary.

Is it fun to read and sometimes touching? A good way to pass the time? To that, I give a resounding yes.

First of all (and most importantly), this is not a yuri. Well, mostly. It's complicated. Another review already explained that In detail.

I recommend this to people who (1) enjoy crossdressing girls (they're so hot), (2) people who enjoy crossdressing girls as MC, and (3) a not-that-nice MC. Not that... more>> she's too bad or mean. There's just times where she is inconsiderate and not immediately heroic. For example, Isaac's chapter.

Honestly, the good nice character is her older brother. Which is kinda unique imo.

Anyways, logical review is over. Now I will gush about what I love about this!! First of all, love the MC! She ain't a perfect sweet girl, but as a maiden whose heart falls for the crossdressers, she's just perfect!! I'd call her mommy 100%! Other than that, love how supportive her family is. That wasn't touched so much in the manga (which I think is a waste cause like it adds to the character so much). <<less

I really love Elizabeth. Though, there's no romance.

At least up to the chapter I'm in, she hasn't really shown any romantic interest in any character.

So it's kind of like a reverse harem. She doesn't feel anything for them, she just does what she thinks is good for her image in the eyes of the heroine, and her whole personality just goes around becoming a capture target. It's not like other genderbend novels where the protagonists struggle to hide their gender, she straight up looks like a man, and acts like... more>> one. Also she really calculates every single interaction she has with everyone, choosing the best options that benefit her the most.

She has many ambitions and likes to work hard toward achieving them, never giving up.

Again, I love Elizabeth, and Lord Barton, but I find the novel a bit boring, since she really doesn't show any feeling for other people than her family. Yes she cares about her friends, but she's usually very calculating and lacks some empathy.

Now she might be thinking that everything she does is for her own benefit when she actually does those things because she cares about them, and I could be wrong. But, reading it, that was what I felt. Nothing from her side.

I'll wait for the next chapters. <<less
