TLDR: Very enjoyable non human MC novel in a Cultivation world, focusing on the story of a demonic beasts path to immortality. It lacks greater depth due to the fast pacing, but it makes up for it in others. I suggest reading this novel.

I really liked the novel. The story follows a snake that awakens sentience and starts to cultivate. The story is pretty fast paced in my opinion, making a lack of detail and depth on some parts, but is still very enjoyable nonetheless.

The lack of deeper wide spanning... more>> plotlines and progressions is what downgraded it from a 5 to a 4 for me. Don't get me wrong, there is spanning main plot, but it isn't really developed unlike other novels. This makes for a somewhat repetitive story with lots of action scenes, and lovable downtimes between.

But again, I really enjoyed the story. The non human MC is very likable and relatable. The story is also written in a somewhat comedic tone, though it isn't the kind where you'd be laughing. The non traditional Cultivation take is fresh, making for a more unique story/plot unlike traditional Chinese cultivator novels with the arrogant main characters, idiotic antagonists, with unbearable Chinese cliches.

The story even made fun at these cliches to hook the readers in more at the start. Though with how often it was happening unrealistic, the snake ate a lot of such people towards the start of the novel,

like an arrogant immortal reincarnation into a loser tr*sh male, vowing to avenge them, get their girl, et cetera, only to be eaten promplty.

This is also one of the rare novels where side characters actually reappear again, and aren't completely forgotten / disregarded; or at least so far. You get mentions of how they developed, occassional side povs, and meetings between them eventually.

I really suggest reading this novel. I only wish there was more side developments, mysteries to uncover, and deeper spanning plots; as if so I would've easily gave it a 5. The characters are not flat at all, though they do somewhat lack some realistic depth due to the fast pacing, prioritizing moving the plot foremost.

As a side note, I read the manual forever ago, and it's also a good read. But, this is one of the rare times I think the novel was actually better though. As usually on NU, all the novel versions of manhwas I read turn up a lot worse in novel format, like SSS Class su*cide Hunter. The art of the snake manhua also wasn't that great <<less
