I like it! The initial setting is somewhat depressing, but I’m suspecting it’s connected to the existence of the different ‘games’; or rather, the various forces and influences in and behind it.

The difficulty of the instances in this novel are perfectly balanced at that ‘difficult, but makes sense’ side of the spectrum. Sometimes you’ll find characters in other stories bullshitting together solutions, but in my opinion, not this one. The reader gets the same information as the MC does, and she always outlines her reasoning. And frankly speaking, all I... more>> can think is ‘damn. That makes sense. I just wouldn’t be able to put it together’. She’s written in a way that shows she’s genuinely extremely intelligent, which is hard to see and refreshing!

Not quite a spoiler, but if you like eldritch-style forces and sanity meters, you might want to stick around. The setting of this story isn’t as simple as ‘one system exists, makes instances, the end’. Definitely some Cthulhu-esc mythos gonna play into this in future. <<less
