Jiang Liyun had always wanted to be a wealthy person since she was young. Although she had a difficult early life, she later worked hard and managed to amass a fortune worth billions. However, she married the wrong person and was left partially paralyzed by a scoundrel. If it weren’t for Feng Yi, who grew up with her and never left her side, taking care of her, she might not have survived.

But even Feng Yi passed away early.

Her life was full of regrets.

When she opened her eyes again, she found herself back in 1987, the day after she went on a blind date with the scoundrel. At this time, she was young and vibrant, and there were countless business opportunities waiting for her to explore in this land she lived in.

This time, whether it was marriage or career, she would succeed smoothly!

***

After her rebirth, Jiang Liyun rejected the scoundrel and sighed as she looked at Feng Yi, her neighbor, who was thin and frail. The Feng Yi who had taken care of her properly in her previous life and could effortlessly carry her, now looked like a bamboo pole. What could she do? She could only work hard to make him strong.

***

Feng Yi’s father passed away early, and his mother remarried. Among the five children in the family, he was the least cared for. Except for Jiang Liyun living next door, no one paid attention to him. His biggest dream was to marry Jiang Liyun, and if he couldn’t marry her, he was willing to spend his whole life following her. From one day onwards, Jiang Liyun started feeding him…

Feng Yi was so happy he was about to faint.

***

Everyone in the village knew that the Feng family wouldn’t arrange a marriage for Feng Yi, the “useless” one, so he was destined to remain a bachelor for life. However, Feng Yi “married” himself off, to the third daughter of the Jiang family. As the third daughter of the Jiang family became wealthier and wealthier, he became the most envied man.

Reading Guide: The female lead is reborn and gradually becomes wealthy starting from selling, with family stories included.

I like the pacing of the story and it's interesting enough for me to read it. Sadly, it's not free. I wouldn't mind if they're charging their work since translating a story isn't easy. But the thing is, their translation is confusing. I'm in Chapter 50s and I still don't know what the FL's father's real name is. Other characters' names and their pronouns are also inconsistent. I suggest you just MTL it. It basically just the same.

I enjoyed the story. And I love how pragmatic the FL is.... more>> She doesn't dwell on revenge but puts all her energy in making money.

She really acts her age (mentally a middle-aged woman) unlike other reborn FLs I read that blushes from a single kiss. <<less

The rebirth novel had always been my favorite genre, even more so if it had a good enough plot. This novel might not have a refreshing plot but it still had its own charm.

MC was a dominant party in this story and ML felt more like her little follower since he always listened to MC unconditionally but his character really complimented MC well since MC loved to take charge. However, if you seek romance, maybe you would be disappointed because the romance itself was very scarce. The story focused more... more>> on how MC built her business from an ordinary breakfast stall to a franchise with more than 100 branches.

There were several conflicts in the novel but nothing major or excessive. I thought there would be family drama but it turned out, it was only minor disagreement at most. MC's family wasn't perfect but all of them had their good sides. MC was also quite open-minded and didn't resent her family just because they didn't have the same point of view as her. She even helped them when there was any opportunity so her family could finally get out of poverty.

Meanwhile, ML didn't have many feelings to his mother or her new family and he cleanly cut their relationship early. They also didn't make any wave in the story because they knew they were at disadvantage if they had any conflict with ML. So, both of them started their business without any burden.

After that, it's quite predictable. They became very rich and they lived happily ever after. The end. <<less

Not sure what's up with the bad ratings, but this is a pretty solid story in the 'going back a few decades in China genre'. It's far more realistic than most. The MC pretty much gets a do over of her life and makes the most of it. The MC and the ML have to work hard over years to make it rich. Where a lot of stories fail, is their inability to pace things. This story has well placed time skips, that make the MCs success make sense. MC... more>> was also old enough in her past life to be skilled at various things, but luckily she isn't some Mary Sue.

The characters are also more believable. Very few characters are straight up villains. The MCs family members have flaws, but are still likeable in their own way. There is face slapping, but it isn't so dramatic.

This story is one of the more down to earth, business success stories. Definitely recommend unless you're into the more fantasy like ones. The MTL is easy to read too. <<less

It’s a good novel well written painted with very imperfect characters, some are interesting some less. I kept reading it to know how the story would unfold. The FL and ML couple dynamic was a bit weak but cute. FL is the main driver of the story. It kept me entertained.

Not a well-written novel, but enough to pass the time. I agree with Bookmunchies' review — there are too many plot points that had potential but were left unexplored. The main character has no real personality and feels bland, and the same goes for the rest of the cast. The slice-of-life scenes aren't engaging either. I ended up DNF-ing at chapter 39 after skipping several chapters, and honestly, you don't miss much even with the skips. It really doesn't need to be over 100 chapters — the amount of irrelevant... more>> scenes says a lot about the writing quality. I've read many short Chinese novels with 20 or fewer chapters that offer a stronger sense of completion and far more satisfying storytelling than this one. <<less

It's an alright time killing novel, it just feels as if it ended prematurely, like there was supposed to be another arc or 2 but for some reason the author ended it there. There is actually not a small number of things that are very annoying but it's been a while and 5 novels since I read it and I'm only writing the review now so it's not really going to be very long. The ML is the type that exists for the FL, a cute puppy, it would've been... more>> more satisfying if he had something outside of her, but it's alright this way too. The FL is very money oriented and in the beginning they were saying how much she regrets not being there for her little sister and how she's going to make it up to her, but that girl might as well be a lamp tbo, there or not there not much difference. The older sister is actually a super interesting character and it would've been good if she was explored a little more and not completely neglected by the author. The author is actually very much only focused on the FL and very biased towards her, all the other characters are chopped liver to them. A lot of plot points that could've been more explored are just mentioned and abandoned so it feels lacking. The FL keeps everything she's doing a secret from her family even tho she always says how good her parents are to her, it just seems like she is seeing every single connection as a burden and helps out as an after thought so things just solve themselves. The novel brings up some topics that they author doesn't really know much about and overly simplifies and misunderstands the core of, which is just insulting to the seriousness of the matter, it's actually better to just skip putting it into the novel entirely than to insert it in such a way.

The tl quality isn't that good, genders, names and tittles keep changing but it's readable enough if you're just resting the brain. <<less

I just switched to Raws because there was 1/2 a chapter missing at some point in the teens. (Seems a common problem with this translator.)

It’s still early, but I just want to say the ML is such a sweet, puppy-like little cutie pie. Every time he is so happy to be complimented or feels cherished because he gets to eat a chicken leg, my heart breaks for the him of the last life. He died young and was a good dad to such an ingrate.

I’m happy he’s cherished in... more>> this life, but it just breaks my heart every time. He’s so pure 🥹

FL knows it and seems very willing to make such a good child happy in this life. Yay for redos. <<less

Just meh. Not great, but not the worst... hence the 3 star. There's not much romance really. Even the side characters have more spotlight than ML. ML is just an afterthought or as good as a tree in the background. Am not satisfied with the romance, no fluff, no sweetness... just bland.

Am surprised there doesn't seem to be many reviewers talking about the "g*ooming" like feeling in ML and FL relationship. FL is a 50+ year old lady soul in 20~ish yr old body in a relationship with a 19yr... more>> old ML. And this maturity of FL shows in everything she does and says. Infact she even sees ML as a kid in most times...I didn't get the peer vibes from her towards ML at all. Wouldn't it feel weird if the roles were reversed? If ML was this 50+ yr old dude pursuing a 19yr old FL?

TLDR: Don't read if you are looking for romance. Read if you just need a pass time or educate yourself on Chinese economy back in late 80s / early 90s. <<less
