[Face-slapping satisfying story] [Beloved by all] [Smart female lead, adult CP with Sheng Yuxiao]

Li Xiaoya was born in a poor mountain village. Her mother died when she was three, and her father ran off with a mistress.

When she was seven, the “Life Swap” TV show crew came to the small village and immediately chose Xiaoya.

But when filming began, they suddenly switched to the village chief’s granddaughter instead.

Later, the chief’s granddaughter went to the big city and appeared on TV. Netizens praised her for being poised and well-behaved, saying she’d become the goddaughter of an incredibly wealthy family. How enviable!

The netizens also said that Xiaoya from the same village was originally chosen, but supposedly she stole and grabbed things, cursed constantly – good thing she didn’t make it on the show!

Xiaoya had no idea a chapter of life that should have been hers had been stolen…

***

On the second day of filming, the rich young master who was swapped to experience life in the small mountain village met the dirt-covered Xiaoya.

Despite her young age, Xiaoya would stand on a stool to cook for him, trek through mountains to dig up wild vegetables for him, and even save the one piece of candy given out in the village to bring back to him, holding it until it melted.

The arrogant young master’s heart completely melted.

*

So while the village chief’s granddaughter was touring Disneyland in the big city,

The young master was helping Xiaoya dig in the fields and carry manure.

The life was too hard; the young master really couldn’t take it anymore. In a fit of anger, he summoned a group of rich second-generation kids to dig fields and carry manure together… Instantly it went viral online, crushing the ratings of the other group.

**

Later, she was recognized and taken back by a top wealthy family. Her grandfather was gravely ill, her uncles and aunts were either crazy or disabled. No worries! The young master helped her with everything!

Even the fiercest villains fought to be her father!

To be frank, this is one of those ah Mary-Sue power fantasy type novels? Xiaoya is basically a genius, beloved by all who will have a smooth sailing life. Powerful people adore her, she gets involved with business, she has ties to organized crime. She's cute, she's brilliant and all that.

That being said, it's pretty entertaining. A majority of the story does take place in her childhood and her dealing with her biological family. There's I think 2? Time skips?

I guess I still enjoyed this because I enjoyed the escalation... more>> of shenanigans. Like it's starts out at the village and then she's dealing with her rich people family problems and then it's just straight up organized crime. And she's still like ten.

I quite like Xiaoya as a protagonist. She tends to be in charge (yes at ten) and is surprisingly morally gray but not that surprising considering her relatives.

Romance.

Spoiler

Yes the male lead is the aforementioned young master in the summary

[collapse]

It's a big age gap but to the novel's credit, he never felt weird? Like there were points where he was overprotective but more like in an older brother way? Honestly it just felt that he found her like cute and lovable and wanted her to live a good life.

Anyways don't get too excited for romance. She's underage for a big chunk of the novel so nothing until the last arc.

Anyways I do think this novel is entertaining and not too egregious. I wouldn't say it's tightly woven, there's a illogical things like umm netizens hating this impoverished ten year old girl just because she's supposedly a thief and equate most of her actions to manipulation (???) and well xiaoya's many impressive feats. But within the confines of it's premise, I think it can be a fun read <<less

😩 I had a long review that didn’t save and quite frankly I dont think I’ll accurately recreate it.

MC is very OP things go her way a lot and for the most part there isn’t an obstacle that gets in her way whether it’s a mental problem, financial, survival etc etc she’s got it. But she’s a very likable and has a warm but flexible mindset, always careful to keep things in check. Treat her well and she will return it, but she tries to keep things fair for the... more>> most part. Her initial strengths are more mental/emotional though in the last arc/extras you can see how accomplished she’s become physically. I just think it’s kinda sad that most of the adults in her life really on her so much for emotional support, like they got power and money and skills yet they all are too insecure without her guiding them. I’m almost embarrassed how many adults just look to her for answers to their problems. Like it’s fine if she a child runs to adults or in some cases teenagers for money/help but it got frustrating that the adults always turned to her in times of trouble. Especially when you see other times that they can function without her but prefer to hear her opinion first. She’s only seven for a majority of the book, like maybe 3 people who don’t look to her for answers and instead mentor her. Young master sheng and the assassin foster father were my favorite figures in the book. They treated her like something precious and nurtured her into a great character. I did get annoyed with how much they attribute her skills/good personality to her genetics rather than attributing her own life experiences to it as well

Spoiler

She’s super smart. As long as she had access to the right books she could learn anything. Even if she never met any of them and just escaped the mountain village I know she could have thrived so long as she could access a library or something. But if she had no access to anything her whole life and stayed in a rural area I doubt her genetics would do anything. It’s never just genetics, it’s the environment and access to resources as well. But her grandfather and uncles all attributed it to their family’s genetics and said she was the only good one of them since she was the healthiest and most sane. Nevermind that the rest of the family are trained mafia people, it’s only their lack of self confidence and ableist attitude that kept them from power. It’s only after she returns and supports them that they reverse and adapt. But for a good chunk of the book there’s still a thread of ableism from characters that interact with the three major disable characters. Like the characters themselves have a bit of self hatred because of their disability but even after they change they still get treated as useless by Wei Lin, their father and even the servants. Even MC says something infantilizing them in the later chapters.

For the most part she’s very kind hearted and a good child (albeit grey morals) but her paternal grandfather attributes it to her father being a kind and upright military man. But her life experience shaped her, the people she met shaped her. It can’t just be said it’s the right dna.

[collapse]

I think the villains were fleshed out well and woven well into the story, the only exception were the antagonists in the arc with Qin sister. Those were very shallow and gory for the sake of shock factor. Wei Lin is the main antagonist, his end was so satisfying, he is not one to go down alone he will drag others down with him which funnily enough is how he fell into MCs trap. Li Qingqing was a bit disappointing, she’s a short mind foolish adult in a child’s body, but her fate at the end, watching her desperate unraveling was satisfying to read. Another minor villain got earlier set up but for a good majority of the book I thought he was a loose end forgotten and written out maybe a third of the way into the book. But his reintroduction added a thrill and cover for the real final villain. There is a hidden danger that didn’t get revealed til the last arc, but the idea it brought was so interesting I just wish they had set it up better/earlier instead of just shoving it into two chapters.

I for one think the romance was truly unnecessary. For the majority of the book she’s a child so her strongest impression is that of a child. The romance with ML doesn’t happen till she’s an adult, he treats her like a doted younger sister or daughter. The last arc was when she was a preteen/teen and it was so short you don’t get to shift the mindset that she is older and romance between them wouldn’t be weird/icky. Honestly a lot of the interactions between them you would think he’s her main parental figure since he’s always teaching her things, taking care of her health and milestones. Him and the other guy qin are like rivals for her affection but again it just comes off as a pair of brothers with a strong sister complex.

spoiler on the romance between MC and ML

Spoiler

ML didn’t seem aware at all that he was interested in her romantically until others put that thought in his head. He busted wanted to be her number one. But He can be her number one person without being her lover though in the later arc you find out that them being each other’s most important person always happens no matter how many times the life restarts.

Still not my cup of tea, even though I read and enjoyed similar plots in the past. We just never got enough time to see them as adults or on a more equal footing so that the romantic shift would be more natural.

Big spoiler

Spoiler

Their worlds is just part of many within a game where outsiders can play with the story whether they want to correct the story, change protagonists, treat it as a transmigration or rebirth story. Our final antagonist was a player and ML is quite wicked with him torturing/threatening to keep him alive in cruel ways to ensure their current run through of the game survives up until he “convinces” him to go out and try to give MCs parents the happy ending they deserve and convince other to try as well (yes he does say maybe it’s foolish but he’ll just keep finding new players to torture and blame it on the current player so if he doesn’t do as asked, the new tortured player will go after the original for revenge.) ML is very confident after hearing no matter how many players to their world him and MCs deep connection is inevitable. He’ll find his way to her no matter what. That’s honestly what made me accept them together even if I prefer them as platonic lol. During the guys first attempt he did try to save MCs dad but that guy was stubborn and died at least knowing about MC. I just wished the author had written about a happy ending where they all lived, MC got to live with her parents and both sides of her family, reunited with ML. You know like a real HEA route.

There was a character I didn’t like at first, little An. She felt like an afterthought but by the final chapter I guess you could consider her a foil to MC, they share many similarities and MC would have likely grown up to be just like her if she had been raised by her maternal grandfather who believed competition was the best way to raise children much like An girls dad who treated his kids better based on the connections they bring him. I feel like by MC accepting this girl she was accepting a part of herself, especially with how cold and calculating she was. It didn’t make her a bad person but it took MCs acceptance before she could be confident in herself.

I lllooovvveeee the female lead character!!!! 😍 She is a genius but not like usual story where the genius is cold hearted or just know everything so easily. She learned it all through observation, reading, and the most important thing, mentoring, from both good and evil people around her. She's open minded, not easily judging people, that's why she has such expansive networking. When she's a child, the author knows to maintain her innocence as a child, showed us how a genius child think, sharp but still lacking some wisdom.... more>> So, the character setting is really make sense and it makes me enjoy the story to the fullest. Thumbs up to the author for designing a perfect setting and logic for all the characters in this story! <<less

.. Being in a game BUT no, the game part is just a small part & it near the end where it logically explained

I learn alot. Like, really alot from this novel, about the philosophy if life, there's so many good quotes inside

The MC is what you called OP, mary sue etc. Just my cuppa tea!

I know that this novel seems unrealistic, I get it, what 7 yo girl is that mature & easily control the situations? Yes she's intelligently learn fast & can be called a genius. I never met or heard a person like that irl that's why I thought it's unrealistic

But, so what? I read fictions not non-fiction or someone biography. I am INTENTIONALLY reading fictions for unrealistic novel, so I DON'T CARE about the characters being OP or mary su (or gary stu). Still I dislike weird novel tho.

But, this? This novel is interesting since the beginning, slice of life & too many philosophies to learn from

The MC is strong, physically & mentalnya strong. My cuppa tea! <<less

I loved this novel! I will say that many may not like this because everything almost just falls into the FL’s lap and everything just always works out for her. While that is true to some extent, what really got me into this story and kept me was her mental fortitude. Innocence, genius, loyalty, cruelty... the author blends her character together so well where it doesn’t come off tacky. A lot of the story is and not so subtly about mind games. I really can’t articulate fully what drew me... more>> to this and fell in love, I can only say to read it and give it a shot. So many twisted and warped individuals show us that you can still find other humans that you can connect with.

The ending wasn’t too satisfactory for me but I’ll live. <<less
