The story and its premise seem typical of the genre, however the delivery is excellent.

The MC is a genius, without being over the top arrogant or dense. He has a strong starting power, which really does help him, however, does not end up being the answer to every problem that appears. Hard work and training play a major role to his development. Multiple distinct fleshed out characters leave you waiting for their next interaction with the MC.

So far it has been one of the few novels that have me hungering... more>> for the next chapter, while also it maintains a constant value on re-reads on my extra extra free time. <<less

Well done academy novel, unlike the rest of academy novels out there, this is original with his principal focus on learning magic, not following or saving damisels like the rest of academy novels. For me its a 4.2-4.4 out of 5, due that I feel that is too long.

Spoiler

around 700 chp to pass from first grade to second grade, and I dont know how many grades will course the MC

[collapse]

But its very interesting the interactions between characters, and its pretty funny.

This the story of academy Life of the dark Archmage. The spirits run away from him, while the undead fear him making them the perfect servants

Fun story but never going to finish as we are still. on year one after nearly 500 chapters. If pacing wasn't so questionable then this would be fun story.

All the characters are lively and live in their own without main character in the world. It's fun to see characters who don't just exist for main character but live and breath in the world.

Lastly watching character... more>> slowly live up to rumors that originally weren't true... <<less

My enjoyment (or increasingly lack thereof?) for this novel may have been heavily influenced by the way One Punch Man, or even The Eminence in Shadow, handled having an overpowered main character.

The reason why it works in the two aforementioned series is because the overpowered characters, Saitama and Cid, are both essentially at the end stage (s) of their growth, power-wise.

In contrast, this series gives the MC an 'endless amount' of both mana and common skills (obtained from professors in his previous life, which kind of makes him a Gary... more>> Stu) while also, at the same time, making it so that, position-wise, he is at the beginning of his growth as a "student."

What this means is that one character, in order to grow, takes on all the plot challenges, and essentially chokes out all the other characters' development within the story.

Saitama and Cid can roam around and deal with final bosses while the supporting cast can deal with threats in a way that highlights their own abilities.

Meanwhile, because Yi-Han is dealing with everything, the supporting cast becomes increasingly more pathetic, which leads to a situation where threats don't feel "serious" because the only ones having trouble with said threats are these "weak" and "pathetic" side characters.

Overall it's a shame because it seemed like the author was actually putting in some effort to build up a world.

But none of it really matters because the 'game mechanics' and 'trials of hardship' are ignored because they are irrelevant in the face of Yi-Han's endless amount of mana and endless amount of hidden skills obtained from the seemingly endless amount of eccentric professors in his previous life. <<less

A fun novel to read, light and a clueless main character who is being shaped by teachers, whether this will be good or bad only the author knows.

It is hilarious. The MC works hard unknowingly cause he was a grad student in Korea before transmigrating. If you were or are a grad student you would know how painful being a grad student is and act exactly like the MC. The humour is witty and hilarious. 10/10 would read again.

I've been reading the MTL version of this novel, and while the translation sucks at times, the actual plot and story development is hilarious and amazing. It kind of reminds me of tr*sh of the Count's Family but with the plot focusing on academy life instead of world-building as TCF does.

Similar to Cale from TCF, the MC of this novel is constantly misunderstood by his peers and professors. He personally wants to be a slacker by graduating and getting a cushy position in the imperial court. However, he has an... more>> unlimited mana source and a lot of talent (a lot of it derived from his time as a graduate student), and as a result, the professors put more pressure on him to succeed and become a better mage. Of course, instead of complaining about the workload, the MC works even harder because, in his mind, the Professor controls his grades and he needs to get good grades to get his bureaucratic position. But in the Professor's eyes, he just keeps meeting and exceeding their expectations because of his passion for learning magic, so they pile even more work on him.

While the MC is a little OC, his incredible ability at all kinds of magic is explained so it's not like it comes from nowhere like other overpowered MCs who are born with their power. The only skill he was really born with was his incredible mana amount, but even then, that can be a detriment for mages in this world since they need to work even harder at control. So MC honestly had to work hard for every bit of his OC'ness and the novel really goes into the time and effort he put into becoming so good at magic.

There are a lot of hilarious interactions that result from this constant misunderstanding, so it's a really enjoyable read so far. It is definitely a more slice of life and a chill kind of read compared to more serious novels, so if you're into that kind of stuff I highly recommend giving it a try. <<less

Good pastime read, interesting characters that can be just absurd but still tolerable not too much of romance but shows some hints, The MC has potential not that super OP yet not so many 3rd rate villains because many of his schoolmates still acts like a child and very simple minded with some exceptions, school setting is unique etc, enjoy

THIS IS SO GOOD!! Originally I was quite intimidated to read this given the amount of chapters it has, but then I devoured 600 ch in less than a week without realizing it...

Firstly, one of my fav thing is the MC's personality. A totally relatable and funny guy, he's not too strict but also not too lax. I also liked his relationship with his friends and professors. It really feels like reading a struggle of a highschooler/college student, so you can't help but empathize them a little. Also up until... more>> the ch I read, there's no mention of any romantic interest at all!

If you need a refresher from reading heavy novels, then this is the best novel for that! Not only it's light, has adventure and fantasy element, has 0 to little romance, and it's quite funny. Tho if you dont really like a slow paced story this isn't really for you... up until ch 660 theyve just entered the 2nd year <<less

I love this novel so muchhhh. Normally, when reading I can get bored sometimes which makes me pause to read other novels and then come back to it. This novel hasn’t made me done that. It’s such a fun read. The MC and the misunderstandings surrounding him are funny and not annoying.

It's a decent and overall enjoyable read. At worse, it's average but it's still a pretty good academy novel. Unlike other academy novels, the MC is not trying to save the world or the academy. He's doing his best to survive and learn magic to be the best civil servant he can be. I do agree that at times it can feel dull and repetitive. Often times, the solution to the problem is the mc's mana. The main character is op as he essentially has infinite mana and he has... more>> a better grasp of understand magic than the others, granted that it is due to his diligence in studying. Having said that, I really enjoy the other characters and the shenanigans that happens. The things they do are pretty interesting and funny. Sometimes the side characters became a bit too simplified as you get further into the story which happens when a story becomes this long. However, I would not say that it is a major issue compared to other novels. One thing the author does that I love is how some details that are mentioned get expanded upon on a hundred or so chapters later.
Spoiler

Like a professor being missing and having an arc with them latter on.

[collapse]
Even though that does not happen for every single one, it's nice when it happens. The world building is pretty solid as you explore different parts of the school, and the cities during vacation. You get to learn a bit about the culture in the world by seeing how the MC obliterates the common sense of other peoples through his nonsense. <<less

This story follows our protag Yi-Han as he is somewhat begrudgingly forced to join a semi-crazy Magic Academy.

Ultimately his end-goal is to have an easy going life as a rich government bureaucrat.

The MC has two main traits which drive the premise of this story: his own hard work ethic and his overwhelming talent for magic in general.

... more>> Ironically, they are the two things that get in the way of his own goal the most.

There is a lot of dry/trolling comedy in this novel. It can be hit or miss at times.

Despite that, seeing all the different types of magic systems explained semi-in-depth has been a refreshing change for me. Ive always felt the most interesting things about fantasy worlds was the most underdeveloped (magic).

Nice to see a novel actually explore that route for once. <<less

Well, what to say? I really enjoy this novel. First thing I want to say is that it is a school life comedy, even if it doesn't seem like it at first. Basically think of it just like any school life manga or novel, but in a setting of a magical world. You will not get drama, villains or battles of good vs evil type of things. It IS a comedy first and foremost. There are fights and conflicts, and some of them are indeed life-threatening, but most conflicts are... more>> just "kids adversity" type, at least until around chapter 700 when the second year starts. Afterward there is a bit more action and a bit more danger, also the world opens up a bit more. We also get a bit more background on MC's family. However, I would say it's still not really an action novel, but mainly a comedy. There isn't really a sense of danger to the MC, so don't go in expecting some big action drama.

Quick synopsis summary. MC finished grad school and seems to have gotten a doctorate degree, judging from the flashbacks. He was completely burned out from school (any grad student can relate) and wanted to take it easy for a while, but died and reincarnated in a magical world. He wanted to live a leisurely life, but according to his family rules he has to get himself a profession, which they will help with, but then he will be basically on his own. He told his father he wanted to be a magician because it seemed to be the most laid-back profession and so he was sent off to a magical school.

Since MC has worked his ass off in his previous life, he wanted to get easy grades now. So what he did, he selected classes with the fewest number of attendants so that the average of the class is low, and he could get an easy A in them. The problem is that he has an absurd amount of mana and that he selected the hardest classes and he showed talent in them.

Now, because of the differences in his mindset and because he doesn't know magic there are many misunderstandings and things play out contrary to what he actually wants. Instead of a leisurely life he attends absurd number of classes and does absurd amount of work. In addition the academy itself is crazy and has crazy rules and education style. The core of the novel is the interactions of students and professors and how MC tries to fit in all of that.

Basically, this is a nice novel if you want to get a good laugh and want to take a break from some s*upid drama. Yes, this novel is not perfect and there are some things that make no sense (like setting up students to fail). But it works here because this isn't a serious novel, but a comedy.

One of the biggest positives for me in this novel is that chapters are long and full of content. The pacing is also quite good, there is a good flow and there is almost no jumps back and forth in the timeline. Overall the writing is quite good.

Some of the things that I don't like is that MC doesn't really have self awareness and the writer sacrifices MCs character and storytelling for the sake of comedy sometimes. But this isn't as bad as in some other novels, so overall I would say it's acceptable. <<less

The translation is understandable, and I really enjoy reading this novel.

I just love when the MC does something, and everyone is like "as a expected of Wōdanaz" 😂👌.

This is fantasy, action, slice of life and tons of comedy (the novel matches my sense of humor in a spiritual level hahaha).

... more>> I like that there is no romance, no harem. Just the MC doing his own thing in a school full of craziness (the main conflicts are almost always the principal' shenanigans, ufff).

Our Yihan/Leehan... What a king, honestly. As a expected of Wōdanaz, in fact. <<less

Kinda funny I like it, it's nonsensical sometimes but as long as you ignore that it's a fine comedy read.

Don't think it's deserving of 5 stars as it is nothing deep but it is a fun read, give it a try.

Can someone please translate this? It's a hidden gem. I am devastated the chapters were taken down and I have nowhere else to read it

I don't usually write reviews but this novel is so worth it. Honestly, this is the novel I enjoyed the most lately. It was so funny that I found myself laughing like a fool at every chapter.

Great work, translator-nim!

I still think it is a masterpiece. So funny

You can tell the person who made the title did not read the book. As animals would never set foot near a creature such as Yi-Han.

The story is quite good a interesting twist on academy novels. If you have ever read insane litch its like that story but from the perspective of the students. A madman Litch owns the academy and will play extremely annoying and dangerous pranks on you. Have fun.

The character is also decently well written and kinda fills out an aspect you don't nessarly think about with... more>> these Shonen like "work hard to ultimate power" type characters in that the academy has a normal amount of work that could be expected of a collage institution. So doing "everything" in the stereotypical way would just lead to extreme burnout and stress. Which I enjoy.

The politics are nice as well as it focuses on more realistic teacher student politics well also refining the stereotypical concept of making every noble equal. Taking what is common in most settings to its logical extreme. Everyone is equally oppressed under the system causing shenanigans. I think the only other book that did this was a dark magic cultivation novel where this was how the sects functioned. So neat.

I would say that a lot of the side characters are decently stereotypical. You have the fat fren a lot of basic love interests (that the character mostly ignores in true Shonen fashion) and a lot of stereotypical goons to cause conflict. The professors are actually interesting and the author seems focused on making them quite interesting. Although the novel likes to take a monster of the week approach constantly adding new professors and new magic schools that the main character supposedly knows. And some of them do fall through the cracks. An attentive reader would probably hate such a thing.

I would say, book neat, I have to go to work now. <<less

The story revolves around Yi-Han, a gifted first-year student overflowing with mana, able to rival even the Principal's magical prowess. Despite his impressive abilities, Yi-Han prioritizes building connections with classmates for future endeavors, aspiring to a peaceful and comfortable lifestyle. The initial 50 chapters introduce readers to the world of magic, providing an immersive experience akin to learning alongside the characters. With a comedic tone, the narrative lacks significant tension or drama, resulting in a relaxed yet occasionally repetitive storyline. Each chapter typically sees Yi-Han effortlessly excelling in class, his... more>> stoic demeanor often misinterpreted as sinister but admired for its noble qualities. Sometimes there are some unreasonable situations in the academy, Like suddenly winter came and the ice king appeared or when Phoenix appeared and burned all the students' assignment papers. It's so preposterous, but so funny. We can feel the pressure that the students of the magic academy feel

[collapse]

Sometimes I feel annoyed with other students, both Lee Han's classmates and upperclassmen. As if you can't really bestow everything on Lee Han. But if the story isn't like that, it's not fun, right?

Spoiler

Look forward to the funny but troublesome otter Professor, Verdus 😂. He's funny, but I can't stand it if I have to face him.

I love people's misunderstanding about Lee Han and what the Wardanaz family taught Lee Han 😂😂

It seems like the story continues until Lee Han becomes the next Principal of Einrogard, just like Lee Han's mother predicted that he will become the future headmaster of Einrogard.

the protagonist is the typical lazy mf who's actually badass, but actually he's not because he's clueless most of the time and finds success by pure luck and everyone thinks he's a god, but he's actually not, and btw he's also the most handsome man in the universe.

The world building is kinda charming. It's trying to be a Harry Potter parody, but the world is interesting in itself and the author is not trying to bore you to death with exposition
