“Ah, this isn’t how transmigration is supposed to work.”

I transmigrated into the Northern Archduke, but he was somewhat broken.

The only things I could trust were my intuition, potential, and a single longsword.

This novel started off strong, but as I kept reading, my excitement slowly faded. The premise was engaging—our MC gets transmigrated into a novel his sister was reading, one of those "Northern Archduke" stories usually found in romance genres. That alone made it stand out since the MC isn't a woman, and there doesn't seem to be much romance at all.

The early chapters were the highlight for me. The banter between the MC and his sister before the transmigration felt lively, fun, and natural. It made me immediately interested in... more>> where the story would go. But then... something changed.

After the first 10-15 chapters, the quality dipped. The writing started feeling sparse, like the author wanted us to connect deeply with the characters but didn't quite flesh them out enough. The plot also took some wild turns that I wasn't prepared for.

New characters were introduced, but I didn't feel invested in them. The story started shifting into unexpected territory,

especially when zombies randomly showed up. Not just any zombies—ones wearing modern Earth clothes.

This twist wasn't even part of the novel world the MC originally read about, making it feel like a sudden, unexplained genre shift.

At this point, I couldn't get a solid grasp on what the novel was trying to be. Was it still a knight story? A survival horror? Something else? It felt like the author kept adding new elements without fully integrating them into the world.

The translation is decent—no major grammar issues that would make it unreadable. Other characters feel like real people, not just props for the MC. The concept had promise, and for a while, it was executed well.

I'm putting this novel on pause at chapter 44. I'm not sure if I'll return to it, at least not anytime soon. While it started off with a fun, engaging premise, the writing, plot shifts, and lack of clear direction left me feeling stuck in limbo. If you like knight stories with unconventional twists, it might still be worth checking out, but for me, the initial excitement is gone. <<less

This is a great piece of work - its trilling and engaging with just the right blend of lighthearted comedy and gripping moments.

The MC transmigrates into the body of Northern grand duke and with his wit and knowledge of the novel, he faces the obstacles in his way and aims to return to his world. He is also helped by a noble lady who is also a... not gonna spoil it. But I really like their friendship - shocking I know. A lady not falling in love with Korean MC... more>> at first sight and instead has deep friendship instead? Wow.

A solid entertaining read- definitely recommended. 9.7/10 <<less
