After being a NEET for several years, I found the world had completely changed into one full of dungeons.

Apparently, the area I lived in had become a so-called “Dungeon Stampede Quarantine Zone,” where monsters overflowing from the dungeons were roaming freely through the city. In order to survive, I used an app to awaken a skill—and what I got was 『Everyday Items Master』.

What an useless skill….Or so I thought. But somehow, I ended up saving a self-proclaimed S-rank adventurer girl and a famous dungeon streamer, and now they become way too attached to me…?

This was the survival story of a laid-back NEET who actually awakened the strongest skill, but misunderstood it as a weak one.

The start of this novel was pretty phenomenal, but the author really completely ruined it pretty fast. Though I read on original site by using mtl translation once I say on the tl paywall for a while (original sites free), so this could be part of the quality drop, but Id say its more due to the story as the mtl was good.

The story has mostly been taking in a streamer type format writing so far where op gods to reddit and asks what happened as he was a shut-in... more>> neet who has been in an long since abandoned city who lived off of delivery drones not knowing anything that's happened in the last few years (dungeon outbreak). It's been pretty comedic so far, though Im sure this could get repetitive later on.

But as I said earlier, the author took a sh1t on his story a bit too fast. They had a great and unique setup / story idea, but 10 chaps on the novel gets destroyed due to the female lead introduced and other elements that forces the story to stay a certain way.

The biggest aggregate is our 27yo neet pe*o protag. His incapability and airheadedness together with his unknowingly op powers was pretty likable and comedic. But this was only towards the start. The novel soon drops all pretense and our protag is no longer a neet for plot sake. They still try to describe him as one but the neet is now just a lazy gigachad outdoorsie god that now frequently does very roomie / extrovert things like going fishing saving someone, going camping, etc. The author writes him as very s*upid airhead and this is only being used for heavy heavy plot armor and plot forcing.

Next is the plotline, it is honestly just pretty bad. The MC seems to be pretty rich which enabled him to become a neet, so once his delivery drones stopped deciding to deliver and he is in a danger zone full of monsters... wouldnt the first fkn thing be trying to get saved? I can pass off him not thinking it as he's a neet but he goes to reddit and internet so much and at the start is so fearful of his life that it should've definately been brought up for him to hire someone to rescue him, though more likely that the government would have services like 911 for these things as the world is still functioning. But for plot sake our MC and story is forcibly staying in the long abondoned city.

As I stress again, the quality really just started dropping from c10ish, and this is partly due to our first female lead, a 16yo loli vampire who fell in love within 2 chaps. The girl who has already been nude and wants to fk the pe*o who got off to her before and runs away as classic jp virg*n protection protags go.

From there, though its only been 10 more chaps I read, they come on a duo set mostly doing slice of life things. Ah, but some paper antagonists came to kill her and our protag played and killed them like it was a lame chunibyou joke. Zero fear, zero remorse, zero anything.

I feel like its both intended and unintended that our scared as fk neet protag at the start is written as an unintended psychopath. This is because I feel like the author decided to scrap their old personality. And this is covered by a poor backstory of

him killing two thugs as a third grader and faking the boy who cried wolf by crying once the cops/adults arrived to pass off the blame.

Our protagonist just has way too many inconsistencies with his character, and ITS ONLY BEEN 20 CHAPTERS!!! He really is just being used solely as a plot device at this point. The story is really sloppily made that at this point I think the author is just writing out their harem wet dream scenario.

I would yap some more but the review is long enough as it is. Gist is the novel was a very good jpn fantasy novel at the start with some isekai feels but again, the authors work just went up in flames from their incompetency.

On a separate note too, this novel is mega paywalled. 60 chaps behind it at the time of its review... I was thinking about rarely buying it for once but it costs a $1 for somewhat short chaps for every single chap... leave some freebies TL 40 chaps is a bit much... but as I was waiting too long for free chaps I looked up the original novel and low and behold everything at least to where I read was completely free... <<less

Regarding the story itself I will not mention anything to detailed, because MyRamen already explained it pretty well, so I will just share my state of mind while reading that story

It started kind of funny but only for like the first few minutes and after that I can only say, that story is so damn exhausting. I mean seriously, that guy denies reality no matter what happens, ignores dangers on one hand, is the definition of a coward in the next and is a walking definition of a messed up... more>> psyche. I do not know if I should call him a sociopath or a psychopath but neither of it is done in a way that makes it interesting for more than a few chapters. After the first 15 chapters I was already so annoyed, that I would have cheered if somebody would have appeared who would have just slapped that MC to neverland. For example the companion of his - she just should take a street sign and hit him with it, until he gets it! That ongoing denial of reality is so over the top, that you have to say, that the denseness of that MC is so high that you actually would have to believe his density would make him crash into earth core. That is not the lovable kind of being dense anymore that is the kind of go to hell density.

I will definitely drop that novel, because if I go on reading it, I will need the psychiatrist, which that guy already needs <<less
