I have to get this Saintess with a damn terrible personality to join the hero’s party.

By any means necessary.

In his previous life, the Saintess in the game he played was the best all-rounder: the only healer, a master of divine power and a talented swordwoman, with a good personality and a strong sense of duty. But after transmigrating into the game's world and fighting his way through mercenary work until he became a paladin and the Saintess' escort, he found out that, in this world, she was nothing but a selfish childish narcissistic sadistic lazy tyrant. And when, finally, the main storyline approaches, with the announcement of the... more>> resurrection of the Demon King, she declares that she absolutely won't join the fight... But the MC knows that, without her, victory is unlikely, which would mean the destruction of the human world. In order to survive, he decides to 'educate' the bully with strong and forceful method (violence, harsh training, isolation, etc.).

No matter how you look at it, the Saintess is truly a terrible person. She throws tantrums that might actually end up killing people or ruin their life for good. Still, the MC's methods seem quite inaprorpriate. There's no way it would actually work in real life. You slap someone worshiped by fanatics? You die. You constantly beat up someone who's more talented than you in the name of training? She kills you when she gets powerful enough to do so. You ostracize the Saintess, letting her roam around the Holy City dirty and hungry? There's no way she won't be recognized, so the higher-ups immediately learn about it and everyone involved dies.

At first this last part seemed plausible because it felt like the Pope was far away in another city, but no, they are in the same city, a city so small that you can tour the whole thing several times in just a few hours. As a matter of fact, the whole 'writing a letter to the Pope to complain' thing makes no sense when you see the Saintess go to the Pope's office (actually the basement) immediately after the MC got taken there. She should have just gone to the Pope's office from the get-go if she wanted to complain.

At least, her personnality doesn't change suddenly, and she's still as rowdy as ever after a six-month time skip. She's just afraid of the MC's harsh training, so she tries to behave.

Anyway, the start is a bit weak logic-wise, but since it's just the start of the story, I'm curious as to how the story will develop. It has potential, I guess.

Spoiler

The hero is dead. And there are other transmigrators. They have all been summoned by the Demon King in order to win the war, thus the plot changes... and he's the hero now.
