A pretty relaxing and entertaining novel. It's the typical "FL transmigrated into a novel with entertainment industry setting as an artist with black history" but the plot twist is that, the FL is a mythical beast— Taotie.

Yes, it's pretty much a Mary Sue but come on. It's to be expected, right? The so-called antagonist of the story is a mortal, you can't expect them to defeat a mythical beast, right? Not to mention that the so-called antagonist doesn't really have much brain. She's just a jealous and petty villainess who's... more>> resources can't keep up with her schemes— her low level schemes. Anyway, her actions can barely affect the FL's live, in fact, the FL doesn't even take her seriously.

Anyway, I actually kinda like the FL's character design. Naive and pure despite the cruelty she experienced. Yes, she wasn't ab*sed or whatsoever when she was a child. But her childhood until her adulthood was pretty lonely. And I think that's cruel. There's this subtle loneliness and longing whenever she mentions how she once yearn to have a playmate when she's a child yet everyone just feared and hate her just because she's taotie. But I like how positive she was and how she was portrayed by the author. She's naive but sometimes sly. Childish but sometimes mature and sensible. Anyway, I like her.

The ML, on the other hand, well, not very much surprised with the ML's character design though. It's the typical doting ML. However, I kinda dislike the anorexia part. Anorexia isn't just the dislike of eating, it's the behavior of fearing to gain weight and wanted to appear thin, thus, avoids food unhealthily. Aside from not wanting to eat, the ML didn't exhibit any of anorexia's symptoms. Yes, I vaguely understand that it has something to do with the ML's real identity but I just really dislike how anorexia was casually used just to add some characteristics to the ML.

In addition, the romance made me smile like an auntie, if you know what I mean. It made me squeal sometimes even if I already read such scenes before. I don't know why though. Maybe it's because the romance was pure, like the taste of first love, and at the same time, not complicated.

Next is the supporting characters. In fact, they are not many. The supporting characters can easily be named. And while they don't have much character design— as their purpose is to ease the atmosphere and be friends with the MCs, I still quite like them. They are hilarious, especially QY who I thought will be an arrogant but flirtatious friend of the ML. Forget about being a flirt, he's a straight man. As for arrogant, well, maybe he once was, but then reality beats him into submission lol.

Lastly, plot wise, it was not that intricate. Also, although it was a story of transmigrating into a novel, that's not the main focus though. The OG novel plot wasn't even mentioned nor portrayed as important— well, it's not actually. The main plot was kinda expected but nevertheless broaden the world background so I guess that's fine. After all, if the MCs was plagued by the OG novel's plot, it was conflicting with their identities somehow.

Overall, it was a pretty lighthearted story which I quite enjoyed. It was funny and full of dog food. I, this single dog, was willing to eat such dog food lol. 8.5/10. <<less

This is such a great novel. Not only the comedy factor was full, it had super cute moments too. Although the plot was a bit cliche, I totally forgive because of how much laughter I had during the read.

the MC was super funny and ML was great too.

Started out quite bland that progressively got poorer, with many things seemingly nonsensical and one dimensional. From characters being inserted then pulled out, to MC being targeted so blatantly and a tad too much, on top off the lack of background and loose ends here and there including with major elements such as plot points.

Middle part, same issues but with some more background given and some loose ends tied up which made it more bearable.

This is where it also shifted from what seemed like forced exaggerated drama towards to the MC to leaning more on MCs growth.

At the tail end, this is much better since it has focused more on the MCs growth. The characters here also had more substance that felt more than merely being one dimensional plot devices. Also had previous characters that were abruptly removed from the scenes return, some brief, some a little longer but better than just completely being forgotten or so. Issues still persists but didn't really get in the way anymore.

The extras felt too short and messy but also gave more background and foreground.

All in all, entertaining read to pass the time. Not that good but not that bad either.

A sweet feel-good story you just have to enjoy. You don't to spend your brain, heartaches, angst, misunderstandings, schemes, etc. Just dote on our glutton little taotie as she finally found the things she have been deprived of in the fairy world inside a small human world as a rising little artist and finally fall in love with her food reserved that broke his promise!

I have to agree with @Shaw Johnson, the story really started and continued for a while to be an interesting, cute story about a gluttonous taotie who adapts to the life of a human actress in another world.

It was an enjoyable read to see her journey and while it had a great translation, things just started to drag out after a while. Like I feel like the main antagonist's ending, happened pretty abruptly.

There were also times where I'd be like "really?? All of a sudden?" due to some plot holes... more>> in the story.

Like when we suddenly get told that the og FL actually transmigrated into the novel, literally right before she gets her bad ending and where we just get set into a scenario where you just have to assume and think like, "oh- ig her powers also transmigrated over with her."

Such an enjoyable read!

So I've always loved the C-showbiz stories and this one has become one that I like the most too!

I read up to chapter 80 (translator bekiapobenjieming) and later MTL it myself. The translations were good and I really want to appreciate the translator note about the Chinese entertainment anecdotes. I'm no stranger with those things but the explanations and examples were easy to understand! The MTL were also easy to read. The sad thing is the MTL doesn't have the extra chapters so... more>> I would love to read the extra chapter when it's available here (please message me if it's completed so I can reread it again just for the extra chapter!)

The first few chapters were indeed kinda brainless, but on later chapters it gets better. Some of the characters were forgotten at the later chapters. Also, there was arc that flew so fast and confusing but it was still at the level that I can compromise with.

The villains were only there at the first half of the story, so they were not dragging the story, yay! I also liked the ML's family, such a uniquely funny family!

I love the origin story of FL x ML too, it was so heartbreaking and lonely, fortunately they met each other again!

You should read this novel! It was not much of toxicity like others showbiz story! It was light, lovely, and full of foods (that were eaten by our FL) !
