Chinese pastry chef Shu Yanyan crossed over to the interstellar world and found an Alpha beauty who had lost her memory. The beauty was obedient and sweet, and Shu Yanyan couldn’t resist her charms. They quickly fell in love and gave birth to an incredibly adorable baby girl.

Unfortunately, their happiness didn’t last long as her beautiful wife disappeared before their child even turned one year old.

Shu Yanyan was heartbroken but didn’t give up hope. She raised their baby on her own while working hard to earn money, hoping to hire the best agency to find her missing wife.

Two years later, she saved up enough money and traveled to a neighboring Empire to seek better opportunities. On this particular day, which happened to be the celebration day of the Huaqi Empire, every tall building projected the image of a person along with a text:

[The Emperor has recovered from her illness, and the selection of the Empress Consort is about to begin.]

As Shu Yanyan looked at the face of the female “Emperor” she fell into deep contemplation.

Wasn’t this her missing beautiful wife from two years ago?!

5/10 (Average, not particularly bad or good)

Very straightforward story. The world is not very detailed, and the romance is the only fleshed out feature. Emotional beats and other obstacles do exist, but are resolved very smoothly. Side characters are generally not fleshed out and only used as plot points in the romance even if they seem to be leading to something more. The romance itself isn't particularly novel or evocative, but it's certainly readable.

While the world doesn't necessarily need to be fleshed out in all novels, overall a little too much detail was put in, which can lead to unfulfilled expectations. For example, early on it seemed that there would be some level of conflict between the Emperor and a power hungry family member, but this ended up being resolved offscreen. Another weird bit was how much detail the AI bird companion got at the beginning of the book only to disappear. It ends up feeling like these are plot threads that got dropped midway rather than the book being planned around them not being relevant. The transmigration was also pointless but honestly this is common enough that it doesn't feel weird. The child, however, was handled pretty decently. Children in yuri can often feel like they eat up more screentime than their characters can actually support, but Yunmiao felt appropriately used to interact with the FLs and for other emotionally or logically consistent scenes.

Emotional beats do exist but are handled very smoothly. Appropriate emotional reactions like Shu Yanyan feeling insecure about being able to resume their relationship after the time that had passed and having raised her child alone for that long do take place, but are resolved with love, understanding, and a very supportive royal family and populace. This isn't a mark against the book, since it was clearly always intended to be written in a largely uplifting way.

However, some gripes do exist. While I don't think it's a huge deal, it's amusingly transparent how much Shu Yanyan and Chu Yu's respective rivals only existed for the sake of getting rejected. The store manager also was very transparently just an excuse for a quick face-slapping scene or two, but at least he served to bring together the FLs emotionally. If the rivals were going to be this transparent of plot devices, it would've been nice to at least have the existence of the rivals feel more integrated into the FLs' emotional journey. Chu Yu does at least get jealous and provoked by Shu Yanyan's friend, but Chu Yu's friend basically could've not existed.

A more material gripe I have is that I don't really think the period of time where the two FLs met up but hadn't yet realized that Chu Yu was Shu Yanyan's missing wife was handled as well as it could've been. Not enough detail was given as to why Chu Yu wouldn't connect the dots, and Shu Yanyan's thought process is honestly a bit hard to follow. This feels like a pretty core part of the premise, so it would've been nice for this section to have spent a bit more time developing clear mindsets for the two.

Spoiler free: The story was okay. Honestly, I got a little tired as soon as they got together. There was a bit of drama, but it didn't play out long enough. It was just a cute story about an omega and alpha couple who had a baby, alpha lost memory, omega was alone taking care of baby, then years later the alpha comes back and wins the omega back and cares for the baby. Of course, there's more to it, but that's basically the whole story. There were a major... more>> plot hole which bothered me the entire story which kinda ruined the whole thing for me once I finished it because I was hoping at least they would explain or fix the plot hole, but there was nothing at the end.

Spoiler:
Spoiler

The plot hole was that the alpha basically had amnesia and her memories never came back. The thing that bothered me the most was that even though we found out that the alpha was the missing wife and the other mom of the daughter, the omega accepted her right away. There was no 'but you're a different person now' type of thing. The omega just was like 'its u!! but im going to have a little hard time loving u... but I love you!'. She was just 100% ok with it. I guess I kinda wanted something more like 'I woke up to find I have a child' with the amnesia. But, that just bothered me. And for the plot hole, I guess I wanted her to have her memories back or somewhat have her memories back. She fell in love with the omega love at first sight and after finding out she's actually the mom and past lover of the omega, she also was just 100% down.

all in all, I guess if you just want something sweet, suggestive, and short. this is for u.

oh but translation is great. some pronouns be messed up but overall, its good. <<less
