This novel has made me hovering between laughing and crying, it was so hilarious, yet actually harboring a deeper sadness beyond. The way it was written and the POV it used was what makes the originally depressing and sorrowful mood became somehow funny.

I expected a bloody revenge, or s*um faceslapping by the ghost when I saw the title, yet I was given a basket of laughter and tears at the same time instead. I have absolutely no complain over it!

The writing style is using the subjective POV. So at... more>> the beginning you will see how the ML was scolded by the MC, and expect him to be some scum. But after reading further you will understand the whole situation and the more you read the more you will chuckle and see that:

The ML is super amazing! He is really good, and he loves the MC so much. It hurts, but like I said, the way it was written makes the angst lighten up.

The timeline was not written linearly, this is what makes the novel feels refreshing, because if you only read one or two chapters you will end up in a great misunderstanding about the novel. The whole setting, characters, and circumstance was not mentioned at the beginning, it was uncovered little by little as the story progressed.

I read this a couple years ago and remember how good it was so I'm leaving a review! This is the type of novel that's actually a tragedy but treated very light-heartedly.

MC comes back as a ghost after dying, possesses a model skeleton, and starts a haunting/stalking situation on the ML, who he thought was getting married to a woman. The (obvious) twist: there is no woman, the person the ML wants to marry is the MC. ML spread the rumor on purpose hoping MC's spirit would come back on the 7th day and the MC fell for it.

Anyway, they got their closure (for now), ML continued to live on for another ten years before dying and our couple reunites (in the most hilarious way possible) in the afterlife before reincarnating together.

This was so sweet.

The story is funny and lovely, the MC is a dense and a little fool and the ML was always in for the ride that was loving this silly goose. I didn't expect to cry, but I did and I really recommend this hidden gem.

Very cute novella about a guy who is just about to drink Meng Po's soup when another ghost tells him that his ex is going to get married on the seventh day after his death, which infuriates him and he immediately rushes back to the living world to... he is not sure what. He ends up haunting their apartment for a few days, and getting up to shenanigans both there and back at Naihe Bridge.

I didn't sign up for this. The ghost on the "cover" of the book led me to believe that it was a comedy. I was balling while eating my dinner and reading. I loved it. It deserves a re-read. I love all the characters.

What is the story between the Daoist priest and the little ghost? At first, I'd thought that the 'pig' was symbolic - because it started off as the pig running off with the cabbage but heck, he ended up raising oink oink pigs in hell?!

Its so sweet, the story is both sad and happy, I cry alot, the MC is unreliable character, the ML is very different from what MC described, and the ML is so head over heels to MC, he is so loyal, both character loveable

I just finished it so I'm full of emotions, despite it being short it's very cute.

It's so beautiful how they, even without being able to touch each other, pour out the affection and sadness of being separated by death and not being able to do anything about it.

I cried when I felt how much They love each other and how they communicated with small acts between them and this was the I love you of their little world. As a beautiful novelist, I also cried when I saw how sad... more>> and in love ML was, wanting to continue living the love that was interrupted, his anguish spoke for him.

What a gem of a story. Written with comedic overtones, the novella manages to pack a lot into a few short pages. I loved their relationship. Warning for the stoic reader: this true love story hit me so hard that my throat ached.

This story is so funny. Xiao bai the MC is so clueless its hilarious.

A lot of humour. A lot of sweetness. A lot of love. A lot of unbelievable fantasy. I love how everything went one circle. It was beautiful.

Its such a short story. Just read it, you won't regret ;)

Just stumbled upon this by complete accident and I will say I don't regret spending two hours reading this short story instead of doing my plates due on 4 days.

You will feel bittersweet at first because of the idea that both MC and ML didn't get the chance to be officially together before one of them died, and because of ML's actions after the MC died. However it was full comedy as the plot progressed and the interaction of the two was funny. They weren't your typical couple that was overly sweet but rather they were that couple that call each other idiot, fool, and many other names. They were actually both idiots in loved and it was also funny how the ML tricked the MC so that he won't yet reincarnate and actually ended up coming back because of rage. So good I actually am craving for more but I also feel this was enough the story ended in a satisfying manner.

Waah! This novel is so good, it's sweet and heartwarming and sometimes sad but when you completed the story you'll feel some kind of satisfaction.

I just gotta say that it's super sweet and is definitely worth reading. The characters are very likeable and the story kind of goes through built up misunderstandings and smashes through it all. The synopsis is a bit misleading tho because it paints the story out to be more of a comedy revenge novel when in reality its kind of a sweet story of misunderstandings packed with light fluff and a generous drizzle of comedy.

Love it when there's an unreliable narrator written well.

MC is the kind to keep a lot of things to himself and try to make a joke of everything.

Author didn't over-explain the relationship, but showed through actions, personal details, and small flashbacks what had actually happened in the past and what they meant to each other.

Requires the reader to read and piece together the past.

Lots of soft and bittersweet moments; at least there's a happy ending.

This was funny but also the ending was just so touching.

Also, this is why we freaking need to communicate properly people.

Communication is the key!

Legit though, all the misunderstandings would not have happened had they communicated properly. But also like, I get it that their situation wasn't very ideal.

This made me crack up. The brain hole of the MC is out of this world and well, considering he is already a ghost, it adds to the comedic effect even more.

Imagine being so jealous and annoyed that your supposed sugar baby/lover is getting married on the seventh day of his death and then he finds out that the said SB/lover goes on a blind date all the while getting ready to get married. So what can a ghost do? Inhabit the skeleton, dress up and spy on him. Warning: gotta run very fast and wear clothes that won't fly away or fall off though. There is a high risk of getting recognized and caught by said person you stalked plus having an exorcist called on you.

The fact that at the end of the seventh day of MC's death, the ML only really wanted to have something to tie him down so that he'll find him again and disn't really want to keep him as a ghost is refreshing to see.

Plus, the MC is so cute afterwards. He went on a bit of a jealous spree when he thought ML got married in the end because he asked a passing ghost about him not considering that there are a lot of other people with the same name. So instead of going on to reincarnate, he spends his time being a pig farmer and becomes a bigshot in the underworld. He even wrote a book about it.

In the end, when ML died and arrived, he saw this scene and got incessantly ticked off that he dragged off MC to get his punishment. Pfft. A worried ghost child tried to ask the grandpa with MC to save MC but ended up hearing things he shouldn't have heard.

Even their finale was really cute hahaha. <<less

It's just so beautiful that no words are able to satisfy that. It gut-wrenching painful but so sweet and comedic at the same time. The angst and comedy is so well written that I'm speechless. Everyone need to read this once. For those who love tragedy, this is gold, no diamond. The tragedy is so heart-wrenching but the HE at last seemed really plausible.

A must read. 5/5
