“Since we have some time now, let’s be honest.”

“What… do you mean?”

“You were trying to tell me something.”

Iliya swallowed hard. Although the other person spoke first, it was difficult to trust them so hastily.

“I don’t know what misunderstanding you have, but there’s nothing like that.”

“Your eyes are saying otherwise.”

Rus moved even closer. He stared intently at Iliya as if trying to read his thoughts.

“Yet I can genuinely sense that you dislike alphas. How should I interpret this?”

He muttered almost to himself while touching his chin. Iliya thought he was crazy. The idea that he had shown such emotions made no sense. Even if he had, how could this man be so certain? Did he possess some kind of mind-reading superpower?

“I’ve had that thought too. Maybe I saw something wrong. Perhaps I’ve been overconfident in my abilities all this time.”

Rus’s hand almost touched Iliya. Iliya squeezed his eyes shut. Rus withdrew his hand that had extended toward Iliya’s face.

“You might doubt me once, but twice is different. Tell me. No one can hear what we say here.”

Iliya slowly opened his eyes at the gently whispered voice. Rus had moved back and was crossing his arms. Is this an opportunity? If he asked this man for help now, could he escape that place? He was afraid that speaking carelessly might put him in greater danger.

“Opportunities don’t come often.”
