“Why would someone 17 years older than me fall in love with me?” College student Kadowaki, who’s clueless about romance, can’t help but be baffled by the unwavering feelings that math professor Matsushita has for him.

If only love, like math, had clear rules and formulas…

This side story of Unrequited Love focuses on Kadowaki’s perspective and also includes a special short story featuring Mikasa and Yoshimoto.

i have read previous work of this author, and it is definite to say they are an amazing writer. They can capture real human emotions and the complexities of personality perfectly, along with the complicated relationships that come with them. Each character has their own personality there are no text book samples, or stereotypical personas.

The story is written in two povs. The first half is by Kadowaki, and I just say I like his character very much. He might seem perfect, like someone who doesn't make mistakes, but I... more>> think it's more like he is the apathetic type, not necessarily in a negative way. He is literally a receiver, he takes in anything's that comes at him. But this is literally what sometimes makes him selfish.

Well, that's at least what I thought first, until a met the other MC, Matsushita. Ughhh! So freaking frustrating!!!!

i mean man get a grip, but at the end of the novel he gets to grow up so I can't say much.

The other side characters might not have much of an impact, but since it is only 15 chapters then u can explore them in their own story. Except for the sister. She was insensitive but I can totally see her in real life. She was just bitter, that's all. And she is so compelling and straightforward, u can't hate someone like that.

Give it a read if u are into real life like stories, that portray humans exactly the way they are, a principle of chaos that is not governed by anything except their own wants and desires. Like a straight man can't just become gay if he wanted to, but if that's what he got comfortable with and that's what solved some of his needs, then yeah, love will build over familiarity.

The two MCs are only alike in outward appearances and their shared passion of their discipline. But other wise I'd say Kadowaki and Matsushita need a lot of expressing to go through between them. Kadowaki can keep carrying the emotional burden for both of them, but that is just going to keep him as someone who doesn't fit his initial perceived personality, where he is independent and resolute and clear minded. <<less
