Gao Han, a cultivator and an assassin from an underground organization from future Earth, accidentally died during a mission when another planet collided with the planet he was having his mission on. His soul travelled to the Latter age of the Dharma Era on earth, and when he opened his eyes, he was already in the body of a Young Master with the same name as him, who died from a Qi deviation orchestrated by his own family.

Not only did his height shrink, becoming short, and poor, he was also an abandoned child of the family who was very close to dying– or should be said, plotted against to die in behalf of his cousin.

Coming from the future, he knew that the current Earth would soon face it’s demise, so he needed to cultivate earnestly to get back his strength and leave the current Earth or else having gotten a second chance of life would just be in vain if he dies here again…. However, how could he do so? The current Earth lacks spiritual energy for him to cultivate and even the air could poison people. It seemed that there was no hope in life: Aiyah, just kill him lah?

Zaki had taken the liberty to edit the synopsis as it was really so short. The synopsis in raws was enough in Chinese but not if translated in English: (the so-called ‘lost in translation’, no fault of the Author)

I like the relationship between the MC and ML. They can look so stoic but they bicker with each other and the ML is a drama queen who loves pretending to be weak.

I couldn't stand the nonstop bystander commentary. I don't care what cannon fodder a, b, c, and d are chatting about. It's always the same conversation too: they're not strong enough, oh maybe they are strong, wow they're actually strong.

It's the worst part about this novel. The author spends too much time writing about the random bystanders who... more>> usually die pretty quick or never show up again.

I couldn't read another 400 ish chapters of it. <<less

Writing a cultivation novel can be challenging, so I gave it a 4, even though there were parts I was uncomfortable reading. Overall, it's okay. I like that the chara's are 3D. I also like the last ch of extra

Downside: I'm slightly annoyed with the ML always bickering with the MC.
Spoiler

They are described as being taciturn, which is in line when they are dealing with others but honestly, half of the novel is bout em bickering.

[collapse]

Second, I don't like when a diff genre novel involvea political topic in the novel, western vs China.
Spoiler

U can write issues diff fr reality but is in line with the story without comparing "China" and "western". U can also use metonymy, symbolism etc. I find it very HYPOCRITE, when an author always portrays that a country/placed named "China" is good and being maltreated in the novel, but in reality the politicians in that country are greedy and only like to twist facts.

[collapse]

Also, I couldn't see much the MC's personality being an assassin in the 2nd world and in the succeeding story. Another, there were foreshadowing mentioned yet the author failed to write stories for them. Lastly, the main charas are OP, making the succeeding ch's predictable. Anw, this is still good and okay if u ignore the above flaws.

The other reviews are accurate too. Gao Han is taciturn, rarely explains himself, and therefore gets misinterpreted and slandered a lot (re: almost the whole time). His true allies are the ones who have to just trust that Gao Han isn’t going to betray them or go back on his word, even if it’s their first time making a deal with him.

Zhongli Tingzhou seems to have a split personality at this point, tho his Black cloth side remembers the white cloth side of him. White Tingzhou has no memory of... more>> black Tingzhou.

The lizard is an annoying pet basically. It decides to cling to Tingzhou, then Gao Han.

Gao Han’s parents are nice, and Tingzhou’s family help too, but the rest of the world don’t learn their lesson and listen to every rumor Gao Han’s enemies spread.

His past life doesn’t really factor into this life either, unless you count his merciless dealing with enemies when they provoke him and he can fight back.

Zhongli Tingzhou is more of an assassin than he is. Plus he basically wore Gao Han down into being his boyfriend. Gao Han expressed his consent by just giving up on arguing with Tingzhou. <<less

The author spends more time on cannon fodders who will be discarded after two chapters, they are always scheming against MC and it's getting in my nerves personally.

I want to know more about the world and the cultivation aspect but it seems like this novel is more focused on the face slapping :L disappointed since I liked the other author's work.

This was a nice novel, but I'm not sure I would want to read it again.

Gao Han, the MC was an assassin before he transmigrated, but I don't see much of that. He is the one who is usually more merciful and tries to ease things, while ML is more merciless and kills faster. Gao Han is also the one who usually does the most talking. ML is more direct and often insulting in his conversations.

I think it would have been more logical if Gao Han had been a special... more>> forces soldier or something like that.

The legendary master's wife, which is written by the same author, is one of my favourite novels. I didn't like this novel nearly as much as that one. It's still nice though.

Gao Han keeps calling ML a drama queen. ML likes to stick to MC and is easily jealous, even when their pet Fugui sticks to Gao Han.

He also doesn't mind acting in front of others. For exemple several times he acts like he is weak and stands no chance when he is fighting others or when they are attacked.

The novel has the couple traveling from earth to the cultivation world and later they even end up in the galaxy where MC lived his first life. This galaxy is being invaded by 'aliens' when they arrive.

There is some paradox here. When Gao Han transmigrated to earth his memories told him that his people came from earth in the past but earth was supposed to have been destroyed hundreds of years ago. A part of humanity escaped earth before it was destroyed and ended up in the galaxy where Gao Han lived in his first life and settled there.

Spoiler

However the couple save earth from destruction, before entering the cultivation world, so why would humanity still end up in the galaxy where Gao Han lived in his first life?

It is mentioned the couple end in a space / time storm so the time differences can be explained that way.

[collapse]

Like in most cultivation novels ML is much stronger than MC at the start. However here he is not uber powerful and from the moment they travel to the cultivation world their cultivation levels keep increasing in about the same pace, with ML usually being stronger. There are a few times where MC becomes the stronger one. When that happens ML works hard to become the strongest of the 2 again.

At a certain point the part about the immortal world was somewhat unclear to me.

Spoiler

At a certain time it seemed that when the road to the immortal world was repaired the cultivators would end up in the ring MC owned. This ring has a whole world inside it with millions of people living inside saved by MC and ML. However from the last chapter I understand that this isn't the case. The couple just hadn't ascended to the immortal world yet with their masters in spite of becoming immortal.

The novel ends with the couple deciding to ascend to the immortal world. We don't get to see what that world is like and how they do there.

They expect to be able to return to the lower realm again to visit their family and friends again. I don't exactly get why they make it seem that should be easy. It had been mentioned before that it would be quite hard to come back and might take a long time.

[collapse]

The end does close most things that had been left hanging as far as I'm considered. There are a few things that stay unclear.

Spoiler

MC's family is killed because they owned the ring that MC had. A servant betrayed their family and was expelled. He told a leader of a secret organisation about the ring. It never became clear to me how this person knew this was a special ring. MC said that his ancestor found it somewhere on the street. They never knew it was a space ring. So how could this person know. MC onoy found out about it himself by accident when he was much older.

I also find it strange that this person was later adopted by the leader of this organisation. MC's family had destroyed his cultivation after he tried to steal from them. So he had no cultivation and the organisation didn't get what they wanted after killing the Gao family since Gao Han had the ring. So why would their leader adopt this betrayer? He had nothing to offer.

I feel that the part of the monster invaders in MC's galaxy wasn't completely finished. MC and ML defeated the monsters and left it like that with the mentality that humans needed a strong opponent to become stronger themselves.

It is said that the monsters have a problem and they had hoped to solve it by coming to their galaxy. I had expected MC and ML to go to the monsters galaxy to check things out or at least permanently solve the monster problem.

[collapse]

Both MC and ML are quite OP, so most of their fights are quite predictable. However there are also several fights where they get wounded or where they end in a difficult situation. They can usually defeat people who are a cultivation level higher than them.

I didn't quite understand the part of the Supreme Sect insisting on getting the complete manual of the sword skill MC practices (it was invented by one of their elders who disappeared) in the later part of the story. I could understand it at the start when you know their sect doesn't have the completed skill, but at a certain point this part became weird to me.

I liked Fugui, the couple's pet. I wouldn't have minded it showing up more. It never really fought with them. It helped a few times, but it was always weaker than it's opponents. A lot of the time it was asleep or not involved in the couple's adventures.

All in all this is a nice cultivation novel that I liked reading. It does have a lot of things cultivation novels have, ascending, animal pet, war with demons, secret realms, MC and ML getting powerful treasures and even interstellar travel. <<less
