The Academy’s Weakest Became A Demon-Limited Hunter

Description

Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.

I possessed the weakest character in my favorite game’s Hell Mode. I want to survive, but the way the main character is being controlled is atrocious.

It can’t be helped.

I have to stop the bad ending myself.

This novel is surprisingly a good read for me. Even though it has the tag "Hiding True Identity" and "Hiding True Abilities" that I hate the most. Later on the stories when MC revealing his power and identity is one of the most epic scenes that I've ever read from novels. MC also hiding his power or more like deceiving others because his OP power is only activated in certain enemies. So MC is actually a weakling but because of his hardworking personalities MC gradually becomes stronger without his OP... more>> boost of power. This one of the rares MC that actually actively trying to solve the problem not like the MC's in most cases of novels like this that "I have to follow the stories/plot" which I really hate those kinds of MC's. MC actually trying to prevent the problems early if he can and sometimes even asking help when there's problem he can't solve alone, so MC is aware of his own limitation even if he has all the game knowledge.

This novel greatest aspect IMO is definitely the Heroines. They all have their own personalities, problems, dreams and when the novel entering the heroines arc then you can expect it's going to be good, I even almost cried in one of the arc. This novel have 5 heroines :

Spoiler
  1. Kaya, Green haired twin tails that also have stalker tendencies because she's the type of person who excessively idolizing the type of person that she admires which in this case MC. She's the heroines that kinda don't have arc but always helping MC from the beginning and also have her cool moment like in the final fight when she awaken her true power.
  2. Luce, the yandere of this novel. She's obsessive to MC because MC is the first person she opened her heart to because of traumatizing past childhood of her that make her distrust and hates other people. She have one of the best arc that almost make me cried.
  3. Dorothy, the best heroines and MVP of this novel, I mean literally. Mischievous onee-san with her characteristic laugh "Nihihi" "Nyahaha" that is so precious. She's someone who trying to find all the beauties and fun in this world to fill her memories in because she's someone who's going to die a painful, unfair, lonely death.
  4. Snow White, the princess heroines that stay pure and innocent despite the trauma that she has from childhood that making her have low self-esteem and have a hard time believing in someone who kind to her, She even prefers if someone outright hating her because she doesn't have to care about their hidden intention.
  5. Alice, which is initially started as enemies. IMO she's the top contender of Dorothy. She's a hero and queen of another world country that if you guess from other heroines name which have fairy tale's name it is Wonderland Kingdom. She's a person that save that kingdom and later become their queen but because of certain strong demon her kingdom is in danger and to save her kingdom she had to do the demon bid and become s*ave to the demon.

Oh boy so where do we became I have a lot to say but I will keep it short.

Intro: starting and premise is generic as you have already guessed it from the title you can find the lots of similarities from other novels of this genre but there are also some unique aspects which makes you to wait in anticipation, I like the way how he is not already too op to make the story boring just enough for the smooth progression

Main: regarding the storyline it is nothing to be... more>> amazed at but still good enough to keep you engaging with all the necessary parts for the good story.

There not much tension in the story so I would not recommend to anyone who is thinking to experience a typical shonen story as I rarely seen MC struggle in the story

I liked the characters of this story as fortunately the have depth and personality, each character have goal and purpose in the the story and most of them a actual braincell to function properly

There are also some of the beautiful interaction with love interest and you would probably began to like them as the story progresses, MC is also likeable he have his own likes and dislikes unlike most of the beta male jp MCs who are just horney.

Overall story is not a masterpiece but still good enough to enjoy it on you holidays or on your breaks

Conclusion: story is obviously made for certain type of people it's not for as ofc it's harem but you can still enjoy it in your free time. Fighting scenes are not that good but they do a good job in foreshadowing.

So I would recommend it to anyone who likes these kind of story still far better that those tr*shkais

Ps: shoutout the translation team to make this novel good tbh without them it would not as interesting as it is, and I am serious when I saying as I tried to read the mtl and it's not worth it thanks for your hardwork <<less

The narrative follows Isaac, who finds himself in the role of the weakest character in his favorite game's Hell Mode. Determined to survive and change the course of events, Isaac must navigate a world where the main character's actions are beyond his control. This premise sets the stage for a thrilling and unpredictable journey.

One of the standout aspects of this novel is the intricate character development. Isaac is not your typical beta protagonist; he is a Chad who gets things done and doesn't succumb to constant whining. His growth as... more>> a character is captivating to witness, especially as he faces adversaries who level up alongside him. The author skillfully balances Isaac's strength against demons with his struggles against other opponents, adding a cool twist to the story.

Moreover, the female leads in this novel are more than mere accessories to the harem. Each of them possesses distinct personalities, and their interactions with Isaac create hilarious and memorable moments. The blend of humor and the characters' quirks breathe life into the story, keeping it lively and engaging.

The world-building in "The Academy’s Weakest Became A Demon-Limited Hunter" is commendable. The author delves into the backgrounds of various characters, adding depth and intrigue to the plot. The intricate plot twists keep readers guessing, and the author's attention to detail enhances the overall reading experience.

I must also mention the author's ability to create an immersive and enchanting game world. From the European ambience to the presence of elemental magic and summoning magic, the novel incorporates game elements seamlessly into the story. The utilization of a level system, magic beasts, and conditional powers adds an extra layer of excitement. <<less

The story is a 1/5 riddled with plotholes. However, the execution is a 4/5. To the point that I would say that despite the constant attacks by demons, the focus of this novel is actually the romance. Isaac always just uses Hunter to steamroll the demons, so it's a stream of SOL + training chapters with love interests occasionally interrupted by oneshotting demons.

Despite supposedly hiding his strength pretty much every love interest detects Isaac's strength soon after meeting him. The SOL is done really well and salvages the relationships but... more>> the meetings are really, really cliche.

Moreover, anyone who doesn't detect Isaac's power and grow interested in him pretty much falls out of the story. The main character of the game is largely ignored; I would be surprised to find out Isaac exchanged a sentence with him. The teacher (Fernando) that Isaac says is important and must be saved since he leads the opposition to the main villain has done absolutely nothing. The adults are ignored because apparently the MC and his love interests are such geniuses that the adults are too weak to be relevant (begging the question of why they don't hire at least one former genius to handle them).

The story just does not hold up under examination. The author hasn't even bothered explaining the specifics of how Isaac's anti-Demon perk strengthens him. However, the SOL is really nice to read, so I recommend trying the series just for that. Ignore the demon attacks and enjoy the SOL portions if you like it.

edit: I enjoyed the SOL, but thinking back the SOL also had a fair amount of cliches. A lot of the "dialogue" was also just the MC fangirling in his head. I enjoyed it so I did not mind. However, if you don't then there isn't much left to enjoy in the series. <<less

So many characters, especially later on, have such terrible personalities. Everyone is so arrogant and I really don’t understand the appeal for characters like that, they just irritate me. It’s the same thing with tsunderes, it’s just mind-boggling how popular they are, to me it’s akin to so many people believing in flat-earth theory. Like how is that possible? Why do you enjoy reading about the MC getting treated like sh*t so much? Are you a sad*st or masochist or something? I don’t understand this world and it’s so disappointing... more>> because I could enjoy so many stories if it weren’t for tsunderes and annoying characters, but alas that is my luck, I wish there were some stories without tsunderes or many arrogant characters, but they don’t exist. I can tolerate a little bit of them, like a few chapters and then they get destroyed and their personality changes, but when it’s recurring, like it is in most novels, it’s so f*cking annoying. I would be so much happier if novels had characters with likable personalities, but I guess that’s just my life <<less

This story is very nice.

The hero is a hard working person that have a cheat that work on a specific enemy, the cheat doesn't mean that he can streamroll everything though. His opponent is not only that specific enemy but other as well. Said specific enemy can also be absurdly strong. So Isaac still need to work hard as his cheat work as enchanment to his base level.

The heroines are great. They are have their own personality and goal that they wish to achieve. The romance is nice and the... more>> rivarly between heroine can be hillarious. Author has told that MC will have harem of maximum 5 female and those are:

Spoiler
  • Kaya which author sometime forget but still a good herione.
  • Luce the most yandere heroine in this story.
  • Dorothy is the best.
  • Alice the enemy turned lover
  • Snow White which is just too pure

If you find some of the name familiar, there is a reason for that.

It's kinda bad, but I'll admit it's good in some spots.

The story is incredibly weak. Because of MC's interference with "original events", it quickly deteriorates into a demon smash galore.

The system is fine. It doesn't make much sense, but it is very focused on magic and learning, so it gets a few points back for keeping up with the plot demands.

... more>> Fights are well executed, but lack any impact, even if it felt challenging.

Romance is... abhorrent. While MC connects well with all the heroines, it's established pretty early on who's likely the endgame option. And it shows in more ways than one, e.g. portraying two other FLs as yandere c*ck thirsty cardboards.

Don't read this unless you really have nothing else to read, it's bland. <<less

At a glance it's your typical game world Isekai, but much like traditional fairy tales are known for lessons and being disturbing if examined closely, this story has some shadows of it's own that aren't apparent immediately. Don't trust the premise of a, "demon limited hunter, " at face value because that's more of a story hook farther in.

The story has plenty of mystery, drama, creative magic combat, and a decent system. Their is a lot of tension in what happens where the outcome is very uncertain for the reader.... more>> The MC can sort of read peoples intent close to him, but the danger is enough to match that sort of advantage so it doesn't feel cheap. There will be things people like and don't like about the story but at the end of the day it's an interesting read if you put the time in. <<less

Under!! (if you know you know...)

Read up till 280 on MTL (it's one of the more acceptable MTL's I've read for those interested)

This novel ticks so many boxes for me.

... more>> Great MC, great setting and world building, great love interests, intriguing mystery and a well done power system.

I'll start by saying that the first 40 ish chapters while great might lead you to believe this is a good but not very unique Action novel, but don't be mislead!

The mystery real kicks in after some build up and the story becomes something I honestly didn't expect at all. A big theme here is twisted fairy tails, so taking stories like the wizard of Oz, Snow White and including their themes and morals in the story in various ways. It's honestly a level of writing that's quite rare in LN.

Another thing is that while it starts off seeming like an action novel with some harem elements, it kinda turns more into a primarily harem novel with action elements. Don't be put off by that, the romance in this is great and as the overall mystery unfolds it only gets better.

I say that because I know people are put off by overly perfect Korean MCs that pick up girls like pokemon while being as dense as a diamonds (I'm one such person). Thankfully I can say I never felt that way with this novel.

Every love interest is likable and well developed. They all get a decent amount of time with MC before falling for him and it feels organic (the only weak relationship is Kaya imo).

MC is also not dense and is aware of their feelings and his own for them. He's also honest about wanting to be with all of them and doesn't deny it (it's fine to admit you want a harem in a fantasy world, finally!!). He doesn't go about this in a douchy way trying to pick up every girl for those worried.

I saw some reviews saying there are too many girls and old ones get forgotten for new ones. I half agree with that... There's really only 4 girls that are genuinely in a romantic relationship with MC and that he has feelings for. All those characters are recurring and constantly have moments with our MC. The problem is more in the fact that 80% of the cast and all the characters of importance are pretty much all female (we can't have Korean MC interact with other man too much, that's crazy...). This can grow old as to why he's always surrounded by beautiful woman, but thankfully he doesn't develop feelings for any of the side characters and their connection with him borders on a passing friendship at best (hopefully this doesn't change).

Our MC is great, he's smart, funny and hardworking while having pretty good EQ. He's genuinely heroic but not too stuck in his ways of righteousness. He does dip into generic Japanese anime protagonist territory at points... Being overly kind to people that are rude to him, being easily intimidated by his lovers and such things... But thankfully those moments are few and far between.

Finally this novel actually takes advantage of the fact that this is an academy life in a game world. So many novels just pick this setting and in reality make you go 'I have no idea why MC is even attending this place...' while constantly throwing plenty of filler at you. Not here, every arc feels like it matters, and the context of it being a school constantly plays into the plot. MC actually breaks down future events for us constantly. It never feels like author just wanted something to happen so now we're doing this arc or this thing randomly. We constantly get told "these are the events that happen in the next semester, I need to prepare that" (AKA, real setup). The author obviously put a lot of thought into the mystery and building the world.

Highly recommend! <<less

This is quite a fun novel to read and an easy one to follow. Title seems to be your average overpowered protagonist-type of novels but I assure you, that way of thinking is wrong.

Story is about our main character, who one day became a random character (Isaac) in a game he once played. Not only that, but the game is famous for its hell dificulty and knowing that the death of the game's main character would result to the world being destroyed meaning, he and everyone else will die too.... more>> Seeing that the main character of the game can't handle himself, our protagonist decided to act and try to block the bad ending himself.

Now here's the unique part, he's only OP when he's fighting demon but if the opponent is not a demon, then the boost that he usually recieves when fighting a demon will not activate. That's why he's OP and at the same time, not. The pacing is good and handles the balance between action and romance really well.

Heroines are all human beings, not some kind of NPC or flat characters like some of the novels out there. Each has their own unique personalities and goals to accomplish. One of the things I like the most about them is that you're gonna be familiar with some of them.... Why? Well, read the novel to find out.

Oh and one thing, this is one of the top novels in Novelpia even if it's only 260+ chapters currently so that's one way of telling that this novel would be good.

Let's proceed to the overall then:

- an engaging and easy to follow plot

- a lot of exciting moments

- lovely heroines

- good pacing of the story

- well balance between action and romance

10/10 would recommend for those who want a good read. <<less

The description right now doesn't say much about the novel right now, but it does have an interesting premise which I personally like very much. So as you may know from the description, it's an isekai, and our MC possesses a terribly weak character at the start.

Now, I'm at c7 right now so I can't say too much, but from the title and what I've read so far, our MC is basically ultra weak, but is able to become OP as heck in very specific situations. I guess you could... more>> say it's like he's playing a very niche or highly specialized class in game, haha.

And this, combined with a nice helping of misunderstandings means that we have some interesting situations and bluffing needed on the part of our MC as they interact with other characters who don't know about his rather unique situation, haha. And I don't know about you, but like I always like to mention in my reviews, I always like me some good misunderstandings in novels, haha. It's always so interesting to see how the MC handles all these misunderstandings, or keep them going on purpose xD

Well, at any rate, it's an interesting novel to read. ^^ <<less

This is mid. The MC's personality is bland: hardworking and kind. The only notable thing about him is that he likes harems. Though it's annoying how the author keeps bringing it up as if that's enough to make an interesting character. A lot of the plot arcs are also boring. In these types of stories where the MC knows what's going to happen in the future and is able to thoroughly prepare for it, the author's supposed to throw in a twist to keep things interesting. But for half of... more>> the arcs in this novel, the MC tells you what's going to happen, he prepares for it, and then the story progresses exactly like he said. The worst part of the novel is the training segments. Every day the MC trains his magical abilities which is fine, but the author spends so many paragraphs describing the training sessions when it's virtually the same thing over and over again. He's literally just doing reps and casting the same spell over and over again, but the author feels the need to describe it in detail every time. Even when he makes progress, it's usually something like being able to cast an ice spear instead of an ice ball. Now instead of spending half the chapter describing the MC casting ice ball over and over again, he's now casting ice spear over and over again... <<less

Going into this novel, I wasn't expecting much and I was pleasantly surprised by the writing. The tags said that the protagonist is overpowered, but after reading early on, I understood that this comes with heavy conditions, which is basically in the title. The protagonist only gets OP when he fights demons. Any other time he's working his bu*t off to get stronger. He manages the relationships at first to secure safety as the heroines of the game are the super strong ones starting out. Now, comparatively when he... more>> (the protagonist) fights demons early on he only gets boosted enough to make it possible to defeat the demons. He doesn't (and never will, at least to the point I've read) one shot the demons. It is always a struggle and the fights have been mostly satisfying. I think the only fight that was the least enjoyable was the very first fight with Trevion.

That aside, the plot has many twists and turns, referencing the game as he goes. The numerous referenced final boss "The evil god" and the fear behind it is very believable. Reading the continuous events that build on the characters and make them lifelike and not 1 or 2 dimensional really help sell this story to the reader. Some previous reviewer's have said the pace is atrocious but I must strongly disagree. If you are reading this like a slice of life book you are going to be completely caught off guard. The book is fast paced, but not to the point of concern as these types of games always have something interesting happening, so him being thrown into a game world helps make the rapid pace of events happening believable. Plus it makes for a more enjoyable reading experience when you never have a dull moment.

I also like the humor derived from the "main character's" constant failure to get the right events/choices and having the protagonist complete/correct them, ensuring a good ending while avoiding the bad ones.

Overall the logic in the writing is sound and there is very little, if any, suspension of disbelief for this novel, in my opinion (besides the initial premise is that he reincarnates into a game character, but I knew that going in). <<less

A strange novel. Initially, while reading the first 30 chapters, I had the strongest urge to give this a 1 star and just leave. However, once the basic settings are established, the novel starts redeeming itself a little.

First, we can discuss the beginning of the novel. The intuition I got while reading was that the author simply didn't hold even the slightest love or affection for the world they built. Basically every aspect of the novel is either cliché or stolen. There was basically no innovation or original aspects at... more>> this point. On top of that, the author actively showed disdain towards character building. The best example I have of this is an excerpt from chapter 15. It reads: "I wasn't interested in whatever realizations Mateo had. When he heard Ian's main character philosophy or beliefs, and reflected on himself, it was obvious that he was talking about something like that.... (one protagonist monologue later)... This bastard hasn't finished talking yet?" When I read this, I was incredibly close to dropping the novel. Moreover, the story arcs in this part of the novel were shockingly bad. There was basically always zero setup, zero climax, and zero resolution. Arcs were wrapped up in just a couple of sentences, like the author was getting bored of their novel. It was really just terrible all around.

However, the novel thankfully starts picking up from here. The main reason is simple: in this world built by the author, they only hold affection for the female leads. You can honestly forget everything unrelated to the female leads, and it would not affect your enjoyment of reading the novel in the slightest. This is especially true for the few male side characters introduced.

Thankfully, at least the way the author handles story arcs and emotional resolution was drastically improved once the female leads were properly introduced. Don't get me wrong here - the novel is still just at a very basic level. Everything about the novel is still cliché. Despite that, I was impressed enough by how much the novel managed to improve that I'll forcibly give it a 4-star rating, even though it probably only deserves a 3.5 or so in my eyes.

Overall, you can read "Demon Limited Hunter" if you're interested in reading about a transmigrated MC building his harem. If you clicked on this novel looking for anything else, my advice would be to look somewhere else. The harem aspect is somewhat well done, but everything else is mediocre at best. <<less

A really solid harem story. It was kinda rough early on such like the constant character window checker and the usual lore dump. Although it wasn't that much for here. I think the translator group (GTL) has been using a lot of "by the way" sentence which kinda put me off but it's a just a small nickpick. 10/10

If I started talking too much it would be a spoiler. This is one of those novels where I really believe you need to just read it, the only spoilers I can give are things to look out for some might not like, mainly: it's a harem story, he hides his identity, there's misunderstandings.

BUT As some that always hated "hiding identity" stories and have this 5 stars this Is the best way you can make a story with that tag. The characters are fleshed out so well and thr... more>> tag is there and you feel it but it's not as frustrating because the people that are often involved and part of the situations quickly find our part of the truth so it's almost like only the surroundings don't know. I knoe that another frustrating fact his seeing the MCs power go unrecognized and it will be like that for a little bit but the people that know the truth compensate it by misunderstanding him to be greater than he thinks he is. Also it's like there's 2 stories: him being OP in the shadows and his weak self that everyone know constantly getting stronger so he gets recognized for his growth but his true strength is hidden since it's conditional.

Do you could just read it as a "weak to strong" story if I'm being honest.

The best part tho? Isaac the MC. Everything he does makes so much damn sense, not just logically but emotionally too. He's not one of those "Chad motionless MC" and he's not a dense MC at all and he's not a pushover but k ows hoe to back down a little too, he's just so good every time he does something you don't think " that's relatable, I would have done that too" you think "the way you handled that was very satisfying" because its not just about being relatable it's about enjoying the story too.

The translation and font and styling add so much to the story too.. For this one I feel the need to shout out the TL and Genesis site.

All in all, MC is enjoyable to read the characters are constantly gaining depth without useless drama all the time to do so, sometimes it's just them getting closer or getting over their worries or getting stronger, and the Lore is getting better and better. Even the most frustrating moments are mild and compensated by something good right after.

The power System is one of the best I've seen.

If you're looking for a good story and don't mind a harem, read this please. <<less

Interesting take on the whole 'Transported/Reincarnated Into Another World' novel trope.

The story follows Issac, which is an extra in a video game that the Protagonist used to play. One day suddenly the Protagonist replaces Issac and now will live his lives, being an extra in this "Game World".

TLDR

Refreshing take on an isekai harem novel. Actual personality and character background that makes the female leads feels more "alive". Chad Protagonist who gets the job done and doesn't whine all the time. Not to mention they have YANDERE (I mean who doesn't... more>> love yandere).

Full Review

At first when I heard the title of this novel, I have doubts whether or not this would be a good read. I've often met novels with similar plots such as these which talks about an MC who reincarnated/transported/etc into another world or into a game world, and they would start out as a weak character who is underestimated by others but he continually trains hard, and proves them wrong.

This novel has those essence in the story, and at first I was pessimistic thinking this is just going to be another beta MC who whines all the time, and that the story would be filled with unbearable tropes with their harems which has no characteristics. Well, I was proven wrong.

Amazing World building and Plot Twist

I have reached about 100 chapters of the story and I can say one thing, which is this story has amazing world building and an intricate plot that keeps me guessing about the characters and how the story will move forward. At first I thought that they wouldn't think too much about the actual world and background of each character since that's what they commonly do with many isekai novel (which focuses on OP MC, Harem and Fanservices). Well, this novel isn't one of those.

This novel actually delves deep into the background of each character, and makes you wonder what makes them do what they do, especially the current antagonist of the story,

. There are many other time where you wonder about how the story would develop, and what is the actual backstory of a certain character, including the MC himself.

Harem Members with Actual Personality

First off, unlike the common isekai harem where the MC are surrounded by many girls who just so head-over-heels for the MC and just straight having no characteristic other than being "damsel in distress", and serves as nothing but fanservices, this novel actually gives personality to those characters and each of them has their own backstory. Here those female lead are more than a 'trophy' for the MC that only purpose was to chase around the MC without any character development or purpose to the story, but instead acts as their own person, making the world and the characters feels more alive.

Hardworking AND Smart MC

You might find these traits in other isekai harem too (although not all have these traits), but I personally find Issac to be different from those other MC, probably because of how he approaches problem, by not overthinking and overcomplicating the solution (to look smart to us readers), yet he still makes those solution to the problem unique and interesting to see.

Are there other similar Novel such as these one?

I would recommend the novel "Fated To Be Loved By Villains" and "Swear Fealty To Me, My Subjects!" since both has similar settings to the story, and has intricate plot and world building, along with actual personality to the female lead. <<less

This is a very good story with a very interesting setting. The romance is bad though.

The core draw is that MC is on hell difficulty, and to survive it he had to dump all his points into a damage bonus against demons. So against demons he's more or less OP power tripping, and for everything else (like fighting his classmates) he's nearly the worst (except he improves this over time through sheer effort). MC is also incredibly level headed and moderately crafty, which is nice. He's no genius manipulator, but... more>> he uses his information of the game to his advantage quite well.

The stats system (well really the system in general) is pretty unique, and it's actually focused on magic. I'm so tired of mages punching people with magic, please cast spells. He casts spells. There's quite a bit of wishy-washyness in the system, mostly about what titles / elements a person can have, which makes it less grounded than it could be, but it's decidedly not deus-ex-stat bonuses.

The only gripe I have is the harem/romance element. It's not that I dislike them inherently, its that the story (eventually) follows the strategy of several teen girls who should be in therapy throwing themselves at the stone-faced protagonist who's inner monologue is more or less "i mean they are attractive but crazy so i'll just stand here this is a solution." chapters are dedicated to this. It is insufferable. He refuses to reciprocate for good reason (the world may end in 1-2 years, or 3-5 business days honestly), but he doesn't draw any boundaries to the point that the target audience is painfully apparent.

The author is also vaguely trying to make MC be both cute and cool (he's short & kinda pretty, but gets buff as hell), and I don't know why. It's not like any girl likes him for his physical appearance, they like him because uhhhhh let's see: slept nearby while camping (????), first ever friend, showed powerful magic, and for the likely actual FL, is a good conversationalist and has an eldrich thing vibing where his soul should be. <<less
