This is a pretty good novel about a person called Nero who somehow possessed the body of an unknown extra to the newly released prequel of a game he used to play all the time - Chronos Lord. He paid for early access and somehow ended up in Aryan Lord with Time Cube abilities.

In the original game, all routes ended with the destruction of the world, no matter which character or decision you made. Nero is thrown 15 years in the past and constantly sees the various ways the world... more>> ends when the percentage of destruction increases; he begins trying to stop the world from ending so he can stop getting those visions and enjoy a peaceful life or get sent back home.

It's a bit of a munchkin journey as he finds hidden pieces and tries to prevent future threats with his knowledge while getting crazy strong, building a home base with crazy magical advancements (flying city anyone?), making allies, avoiding crazy people, discovering the truth about the world that he thought was a game, etc.

It's an interesting fantasy story that gets a sci-fi twist while still maintaining the fantasy concept.

Why I think you should read it:

  1. His personality and ability. Nero is not cruel or too cold. He's pretty level-headed (for the most part) and logical in his decisions while being pretty likable. His main ability, the Time Cube, is put to creative use and never forgotten, even when he gains other magical combat abilities. Overall 8/10 for maintaining character consistency and he uses his brain instead of going magic smash all the time.
  2. The allies around him are not left behind despite his quick level-ups. Even though they might not be at his level, Seneca, Theo, and others (don't want to spoil) are not just scrap characters waiting to be rescued by Nero. They have moments of brilliance and do things that he cannot do, and he actually needs their abilities.
  3. Power scaling is adjusted decently. There are people Nero cannot beat despite his cheats and the consequences of certain actions (injuries, death?).
  4. It's a solid story that slowly draws you in so I would say give it a chance until chapter 60ish to see if you like it.
