The year is 241, Sixth Era. Constantinople trembles under a tempestuous sky.

Emperor Constantine lies slain, his army shattered on the field of battle. The heretical empire, drunk on victory, has devoured the Eastern territories and now sets its sights on the heart of the empire: Constantinople.

Seventeen-year-old Princess Theodora ascends to the throne, inheriting a realm teetering on the brink of collapse.

Rome is about to fall.

The gears of fate spin wildly as a transmigrator materializes on the rain-slicked streets of Constantinople.

“According to the original plot, Constantinople is doomed to fall,” he muses.

“Better spirit the Empress away first.”

Pretty interesting story with some Lord of the Mysteries vibes. Seems like it's been dropped due to lack of popularity, which is a bit of a shame. It's interesting enough that I might try to MTL it.

Quick summary: MC transmigrates into a VR game that he was a pro eSports player for. This game is set in a fantasy historical European setting with some weird tweaks, where we've got modern technology (phones, guns, satellites, AIs) but hordes of barbarians and heretics are still a major threat.

And the magic system is... more>> a bit similar to LotM, where people consume magical ingredients to advance down specific paths, gaining physical and magical abilities along the way.

Now finding himself trapped within a world much like the game he's an expert in, MC knows that in order to survive the series of events that begins with the fall of Constantinople... He needs to gain power, by advancing along the magical system, which requires recruiting people to form a mercenary band. (Who conveniently end up all women. Hey, it's a harem story.)

I'd say that the main selling points are the world building, the occasional bits of intrigue, and the combat. The magic system is pretty neat and the setting gets a bit more interesting detail in volume 2. Combat is mostly squad based and written on a tactical level which is more interesting than the usual.

The romance and relationship is a bit weaker, but our MC has some serious hangups so it might be something that's meant to get more focus in later volumes. <<less
