This is a book with gaming elements inside, similar to A Slight Smile Is Very Alluring or Love O2O. But instead of RPG elements, the author integrates PUBG elements instead. Thus, instead of doing quests and killing monsters, they are looting guns and killing other players instead.

The female lead, Shi Yao, is a glutton. She likes to eat a lot, often getting lured away by food. She even has the Wi-fi connection of all of the restaurants along a food street, auto-connecting to them as she passes by without having... more>> to type in the password. She isn't really a particularly formidable person, being unable to predict the future, possessing no superpowers or exceptional fighting skills that allow her to defeat any enemy before her, and she isn't able to remain completely calm and cool under all circumstances either (If that's the kind of inhuman protagonist you are looking for, you are really barking up the wrong tree). However, her simple personality turns out to be a blessing for her, as earnest and straightforward people tend to be more well-loved by those around her, and such is the case for her. And despite her 'blur' appearance, she does have quite a keen eye that allows her to perceive her surroundings clearer than most common people do.

The male lead, Lin Jiage, is cold and perhaps a little unlikeable at the start. However, as the story unfolds, a more thoughtful, a little awkward, and extremely petty him starts to show, forming a contrast between his cold exterior and rich inner thoughts start to surface. I think that's when the story gets really good. Basically, the story is focused on how Lin Jiage tries to court Shi Yao, resorting to all kinds of ploys he has up his sleeves while trying to uphold his image, well, only to be impeded by his past self. Well, honestly speaking, Lin Jiage is quite a despicable person, but in the adorable sense, especially due to how petty he is over smaller matters.

I think this novel is really well-written in the sense that everything is tied up nicely. It might take a while to show, but the changes in their mindsets are shown rather conspicuously with each event, and the developments are quite relatable to.

Unlike other YFY's books, this book has minimal misunderstandings, no r*pe, no angst, and the sort. Of course, there must be several conflicts here and there for the plotline to advance, but most of these are resolved quite quickly so that it doesn't leave a bitter feeling inside.

Since there's less drama, it won't be as exciting as most others female books out there, but instead, it goes on a slice of life, fluffy kind of road, a little similar to how Kenkyo Kenjitsu is, focusing on the details, but more on the romance. <<less

At first I unaware who's the writer if Lu Jinnian didn't appear as a cameo and ML's friend mentioned "A Billion Stars Can't Amount You". Hahaha. So it's Ye Fei Ye!

So what? She can write something cute and fluffy too! MC is adorably cute.... ML is adorkably cute... Hahaha... Fun too read, light, comedic!

... more>> Did YFY really penned this story?? I find it hard to believe. Lol. I didn't think that she is capable of writing something that doesn't torture us readers. This story has some of the most passionate fans around on Webnovel. I wouldn't have read this if it wasn't so highly recommended.

This story is no doubt very cute. Reminds me of A Slight Smile is very Charming w the gaming elements and campus romance. A must read if you enjoy pure fluff!

I am halfway into the story at 349 and it's becoming toooo draggy. Too many meaningless plot filters! The repetitive text messages, and predictable seemingly endless banter between ML and his older Sister or roommates that can span several chapters has became stale. It was funny the first few times but not when the same formula is recycled throughout the story countless times. I will enjoy this story much more if it was more concised. I highly recommend 'You're beautiful when you smile', a story about e-sports and romance between professional gamers! <<less

It's quite heart-warming. A ride of fluff and sweet moments. I was reluctant to pick this up because yfy's other books had lots of angst. Sometimes r*pe or domestic violence too. Which make me loose interest in those novels or skip those parts to move forward. Surprisingly this novel was quite simple and could be called a slice of life romance. Characters in this novel were fun.

Male lead was my favourite. He is good. Looks cool and has a god like demeanor. But his inner thoughts give him up. He... more>> is just a highly intelligent but shameless person. He would do anything to get what he wants. Sometimes he even stoops quite low for his propogandas. Yet I find him lovable in the end.

Female lead is a total foodie who would do anything for food. Her favourite past-time, passion or expertise is eating food. Despite being a glutton she has an intelligent mind. She possess clear sense of self. She is able to perceive people near her clearly. She alao has ability to analyse situations and act accordingly.

The bestfriends of female lead are loyal and so-so. But the beat friends of male lead were a comedic relief.

  1. The backdrop of novel is school life till now and highlight of story is video games. ML is a video games genius. We could call him a superstar. While FL is a fan and beginner who is clearly not made for video games even after playing it for quite long. I recommend this novel. Yfy has done good work writing some realistic romance.

Surprisingly, I'm really liking this so far, despite my initial wariness due to my utter distaste for the author's other novels. It's been quite simple, fluffy, and the game elements are there but tbh, they aren't as prominent as, say, A Slight Smile Is Very Alluring. There have been a few misunderstandings, but for the most part they aren't that bad or frustrating where I just want to chuck my phone to the other side of the room or beat up both leads lol.

As for the characters: I... more>> quite like Shi Yao, she's not as perfect as FL's tend to be in these novels, and altho she can get nervous and even shy at times, she won points imo for standing up to the ML instead of backing down / not saying anything. Her glutton personality is really, really cute tbh, it's done in a way that I personally don't find annoying, altho the whole "I eat so much but I never get fat" thing can get a bit annoying tbh.

And the ML? Surprisingly....I don't find him that annoying or boring. At first glance, he seems to be the typical cold, aloof, incredibly talented and handsome, rich, and clean freak ML. Despite this, since we get his POV unlike a lot of these stories, we actually find that he's quite vindictive, has a poisonous tongue, and childish even over silly matters. He's even... funny? at times. So, due to this he loses some of the mystery of the usual cold, aloof ML, but I really like it since despite not being quite a likeable person, he seems more human and fleshed out.

All in all, I'd say this has been a cliché but enjoyable read so far. I'd rate it 4/5, not because it's writing is phenomenal or the characters are deep and relatable, but because it's been so long since I've been able to read a fluffy, simple modern novel tbh. If you're looking for something light yet cute to read, I'd say this is a great choice tbh. <<less

This is so cute!! I really enjoy this author's novels, but sometimes the misunderstamdings and angst get a bit frustrating. So when the author and translator have both said this novel will have much less angst and much more comedy/sweetness, it went straight to my 'read this first' list.

The first real conversation of the couple then involved a misunderstanding and Yao being a bit weak and my heart fell... had I been tricked as well??

But then the ML made her cake fall onto the ground and Yao turned into a... more>> tiger, unwilling to waste her time on him anymore.

The writing and translation are excellent. The story involves online gaming and starts while the couple are in university so it has a very similar vibe to 'A Slight Smile is Very Alluring', but I'm enjoying this even more because the leads seem slightly more nuanced and less perfect.

Yao lives to eat and the ML's room mates provide comic relief.

Highly recommended if you like romance and want a break from angst and tragedy. (I'll update this after more has been translated.) <<less

Though it'll be a long time before I bring myself to read this again (after skimmign every 20 chapters till the end of the raws)

This honestly made me cry as heck. It made me remember of youth. I might be a bit sentimental at this point but gosh. I could really say that this is a half realistic half fiction story. But this is my opinion after all.

It might take you a bit bored for the slow but stable progression of the feelings but arent this just normal in... more>> real life. Thats why I could somehow say this is half half.

Despite how I'm always reminded that the main couple would be together I still cried everytime something heartbreaking happened to them *can't say since its spoiler*

But yeah, all in all the story is great. I like it. But its emotionally taxing for me right now as im not usually reading realistic story though this is not really realistic but kinda so its still not something I could take on right off the bat. But surely someday I would comeback and read this until the end and proudly stan as a fan who finished the story <<less
