If the cover art turns you off, just ignore it, don't judge a book by it's cover.

I have many words to describe this work of art, but it is better experienced than told about, so go, read it, then give it a review as I did.

For the story itself, even though there are so few chapters, the progress is good, the characters are interesting, the world-building might be a bit lacking so far, but it is so few chapters after all, you never know what the future holds.

Metagaming aside, I don't like this MC. Misunderstanding troupes usually have a wishy-washy protagonist but this one especially so; let alone how nothing about him seems "real". The MC can be seen as a beautified version of himself to others, but that should appeared to readers as either inherent to MC character or completely farcical. Here, it's always viktor.

There's also a lack of story or anything interesting, be it the world or its characters. Misunderstanding as a troupe is pretty good if the author invested in world building and exposition, cause only if the readers regconize the severity of a situation can they realize how other characters are misintepreting the MC. Here, again there is only viktor. I can't stress this enough, but there's almost nothing explored or revealed everytime there's a misunderstanding. Not when he elicited sympathy from the empire's envoy (ok, maybe a little here), not when he talked to the empress nor when he fooled his way into a succesful coup.

Ofc, there is room for somehing interesting but I don't believe I want to read more. 30 something chapters are enough. I don't like the MC; I can talk a bit more about the supporting characters being one dimensional or how the MC is boring, but nah.

The novel is written well and the beginning chapters are interesting but after about 60 chapters it is clear that only those interested in campaign style novels can enjoy it ... more>>

The continent has magicians which can produce small fireballs but that's it they are not mentioned again, the side characters are not well fleshed out, the basic characteristics of people other than MC can be basically divided into 2 parts. The people MC considers allies or enemies where allies are smart and enemies are dumb and have below average IQ

The 5/5 stars are for the author, this story gets a 4/5.

Well written with likeable characters. The story however, is limited by it's format. Paced like a KR comedy* military story to it's detriment. The villians must be dumb and quick and the plans long and complex

The authors talents would be better spent writing longer novels imo.
