Not sure why the rating is low. Not the best but it is quite pretty good!

I'll admit, at the start, the protagonists' actions can be a bit frustrating and don't seem to line up with how they act later. Some characters seem to hate our MC. But as the story unfolds, it makes sense—they were influenced all along... more>>

Quick rundown: Our MC, Chu Xihen, has had a rough life since birth, yet he stays both sane and ruthless. I also questioned how that was possible, but in the last quarter, we finally get the full backstory—his, the ML's, and even the clown's.

There are many twists in the story but the remarkable part of the story for me is the extra about, Bai Jinli. I thought I would dislike him, but he deserves to be a book proganist, really. I really enjoy the extra about him but it's a pity since the author said that it is meant as a side story only 🥲 <<less

I swear, I really wanted to love this story, but there's just one thing that made me drop it at chapter eleven.

The story's set in an apocalypse, with our MC Chu Xihen transmigrating into a book. We don't get much info about the book, just that it's an apocalyptic story and Bai Jinli and Lou Su are the main characters. Chu Xihen is currently Lou Su's boyfriend, and they've been together for two years. In the original book, Chu Xihen dies at the beginning, right when Bai Jinli and Lou... more>> Su meet. It's a premise I totally dig, I love these kinds of stories, especially with Chu Xihen being described as a total beauty. But what made me bail were Lou Su's friends and how he reacts to them.

From the start, you can tell Lou Su's two besties absolutely hate Chu Xihen. One of them even

tries to kill Chu Xihen early on, hoping to use the excuse that Xihen was weak and got taken out by a mutant. But our MC ain't weak, and he ain't got no mercy, so he ends up killing the friend. Then, Xihen and Lou Su meet up like, a minute later.

That chapter was written so poorly, I can't even describe how bad it was. Especially that friend's lame and failed plan. But honestly, I was like, 'Maybe the author's making Lou Su's friends hate the MC for a reason, like some kind of natural force of the world is against Xihen?' Because there's literally no reason for their hate. And even if there was, Lou Su, who's supposed to want to break up with Xihen but shows the opposite (he really doesn't seem to hate Xihen at all), just watches his friends use violence and rude words against Xihen. Like, I get he's weak at the moment, but he doesn't react at all to his friend's rudeness toward his boyfriend. He just stands there. We even get a hint that Lou Su's friends don't go as far when he's around, but still, they clearly hate Xihen's guts. And Lou Su trusts them to take care of Xihen? No wonder he dies in the original story; Lou Su never tried to help him.

Just to clarify: according to Lou Su's friends, LS hated Xihen and wanted to break up. That's also in the original book's description, so Xihen doesn't question it much because it makes sense to him. But Lou Su definitely doesn't act like he hates him. He even

refuses Bai Jinli's help and shows affection to Xihen.

So why the heck doesn't he react when his friends treat his boyfriend like dirt? I get that in their current situation, it's safer for everyone if he keeps his friends close, but still, he doesn't even try to understand why they hate Xihen. I even thought, 'Maybe he's afraid of losing their friendship?' But that doesn't make sense because: first, his friends are super loyal and treat him like a boss, so they're not gonna ditch him. And second,

when Xihen kills one of his friends, he doesn't even care! He doesn't mourn or question Xihen,

who made up a story that a kid could see through (Xihen lied so poorly because he doesn't care if Lou Su knows the truth or not, but still: what doesn't make sense is Lou Su's reaction to it). <<less
