This is my favorite manga so I was super sad to see that the manga finished early bc of health reasons ;;

The story is sweet, positive, and wholesome! With a mixture of fantasy and cooking which I adore! ♪ (๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑) ♪ I hope the illustrator recovers well! And thank you for the beautiful journey ♡

Now Imma pick up from where the manga left off! Let's continue this journey in the novel! (๑•̀ㅂ•́) و✧ We continue here on chapter 59, if anyone else is wondering!

Easy and light read, nothing complex.

I enjoyed the food and fighting, although I must say that I was quite surprised that the interc**rse was actually described. I was expected a fade to black but to my surprise it actually played out. Really unexpected, I even came back to check the tags here to see if I missed something.

But anyways I recommend the story, if you like an obsessed ML this is also for you. No big misunderstanding trope or anything made me quite happy.

It's a good story, I love Slyvia's interaction with the fairies and ml.

It's a little fast paced at the end, but that's okay, as the story is more focused on the romance of the leads and their current life, than that of the world around them.

So it can feel rushed if you didn't remember all the build up (?) of the current world events, no worries thou, it still is a good story.

I like the story and it satisfied my itch for a sweet romance.

3.5 but rounded up.

This story is a lot of... well... food. Everything is tied to the idea of food and cooking. While not a bad thing, there will be times when it feels like the story was just written to describe food. Plus the story feels like it moves super fast so it's really one long love letter to food.

The MC was transmigrated into a story where she discovers she can use all forms of magic. Learning that magic needs summoning circles to work, she tattoos these circles onto herself.... more>> However, despite being a former tattoo artist, that's as far as using her pre-transmigration profession went. She's smart and a very capable cook. However, there really isn't much to her personality outside of cooking and being happy when she sees people enjoying her food. There are moments of heroism from her but food is her driving force (which makes sense given the title). The moments of heroism can also be seen as the fact that's not a terrible person but she's not actively going out to help people with her massive magic talent.

Spoiler

She gets pulled into this world by a faerie who is under a dragon's orders to bring "something" that can help the ML. She ends up absorbing a scale of said dragon when the faerie accidentally tripped her down the stairs. Unfortunately, this meant that she died in her original world and it made said faerie feel super guilty.

The body she inhabits is initially just a wood/nature mage but due to the dragon's power, she can access all types of magic provided she has the right circles. This leads her to being able to grow whatever she wants and to cook it relatively easily. She also tends to be rather c*cky and will eat random things to test their tastes even if they might be poison.

[collapse]

The ML is the Crown Prince of one kingdom who is wandering as a mercenary. While written as a bit of a softie at times, he's still a bit jaded and kind of wary of the MC but this quickly wears off when he realizes he can taste her food. He also discovers fairly quickly that she can use more magic than she should be able to. The food plus plot armor makes him fall in love with her fairly quickly but it takes a little bit before he truly realizes his feelings for her. Then the story suffers from whiplash as he quickly becomes very yandere like.

Spoiler

Like his change is super fast. He goes from hoping he could taste a meal properly with her to getting upset that she even looks at another guy. The story gives the reason that he had imprinted on her as his mate (being that he and his family line are all descendants of the black dragon). He also does not tell her about this imprinting until the last chapter and then it's kind of glossed over cause apparently she's totally okay with the fact that he can no longer live without her.

This change is also super jarring as this is the guy who split his emotions into faeries because he was tormented and alone as a child. He, of course, forgot he did this and believed the faeries were from the dragon. It's pretty heart wrenching later when they start to disappear when he becomes happy being around the MC.

[collapse]

Everything in the story is easily solvable and I would say that this is almost closer to an adventure slice of life kind of story as opposed to romance. While the MC does find the ML attractive and he really enjoys her cooking and the fact that she is nice, there just doesn't feel like there is anything to their romance. It's a "decided they were romantically involved" kind of plot.

It doesn't help that there will be points where the story will have a bit of whiplash. The ML's change in personality is the most noticeable. While I did like the change and the reasoning why, it just made a light-hearted story become so much more intense. Which was weird for it to happen in the final portion of the story. I was also not expecting the final three chapters of the main story to be smut.

Even the fates of the villains seemed rather anti-climatic. Not that they were really doing much to impede the ML and MC anyway. Then there is a last chapter twist that just leaves me scratching my head.

Spoiler

In a bit of a meta moment, we read from the perspective of a writer and their publisher. The writer flat out says that they felt their original ending wasn't good which was why they rewrote it. Leaving us all to consider that the story the MC was part of was the rewrite of the story the MC read.

It added nothing to the overall story.

[collapse]

While I can't really go and say that this would be a story that'd come to mind when people ask for recommendations, it's still an okay read. Her magic and tattoos are nifty, the faeries are cute and will tug on your heartstrings, but that's about it for this story. <<less

I enjoyed the food descriptions very much. Some other series don't do it well, or it can get monotonous and tedious. I think what helps this story's is that the food choices change up a lot, very good variety of different dishes.

The romance is cute and fun. I was pleasantly surprised by the explicit nature of the end of the story. I didn't expect it bc other stories would often gloss over that kind of thing.

I thought the meeting of the "heroine" and ML was trivial. The issue that arose... more>> felt a little forced, but that was minor.

Normally I love after stories/SS, but this one was kinda not necessary. They ended the main story so well that the SS was just random non-sequitors about their lives. It didn't really enrich the story. Maybe the last chapter of the SS was interesting and cute, but the rest was bit of a slog to get through. Like leave the reader on a high, not on a random mid side story.

Spoiler

I found it really cute that the MC calls the duke, "uncle."
